Summary: Disappointment
Review: I've read all of Linda Howard's books and this was definitely not one of her best. The characters were very shallow and you never really fall in love with any of them. The hero is sexy but aside from his quick comebacks to the heroine, I'm not sure why they would want to be together. I did like the twist about the bad guy.

Summary: The Best Linda Howard ever!!!
Review: This is the best book by Ms. Howard in my humble opinion. Before, I was always enchanted mostly by her male characters because they were such dark and dangerous guys, but this time, Ms. Howard livened things up with a very interesting heroine. Instead of the deeply emotional heroines of the past, Ms. Howard gave us Jaine Bright, a feisty woman in her thirties with a dirty mouth and a passion for fast cars. How could I not like this character when I discovered she drove a Dodge Viper? My advice is to buy this book because the sizzling between Jaine and Sam is true to Ms. Howards previous style, but enhanced by Jaine's independent nature. I couldn't put it down and am already reading it a second time.

Summary: Mr. Perfect
Review: While this book is mildly entertaining, it lacks the warm sensuality of Ms. Howard's earlier books. This is one that once read will not be cherished and re-read as are many of her earlier books. Ms Howard needs to decide if she's going to concentrate on going mainstream or if she's going to stay with romance. This book unfortunately, won't really fit either category.

Janie Bright has a gutter mouth and a mind to go along with it. I think Ms Howard is trying to interest those of generation x but she will lose many of her baby boom readers, those who have been faithful readers of hers. Janie is ready to hop into bed with Sam after seeing him naked through his kitchen window. Too much time is spent on graphic descriptions and too little on building the relationship between Janie and Sam. They hate each other and almost instantly, they're very hot for each other. Ms. Howard provides little basis for this other than Sam's physical attributes.

And "the list" takes up way too much of the book. It gets so far out of hand to be unbelievable - and detracts from the book.

I think Ms. Howard needs to go back and read some of her earlier books to recapture the essence of what made her one of the best writers of her genre. Too bad she's trying to leave it behind.

Summary: A winner
Review: Every Friday after working all week at Hammerstead Technology, Jaine, T.J. Luna, and Marci meet at the local watering hole for some wine, food, and talk. Jaine, the leader and most outspoken of the friends, discusses what she feels are the most desirable traits in a man. Her three buddies join in and soon they create the MR. PERFECT list. The first five requirements are serious, but the remainder deteriorates into a farce to include penis size.

Marci gives the list to a friend who manages to place it in the company newsletter. Soon, the list becomes a media event as TV and newspaper reporters bombard the quartet of women requesting interviews. However, the satirical list triggers a murderous response by a peer who decides in a rage that all four women must die. Jaine's lover and neighbor, detective Sam Donovan is in a race against a psychopathic killing machine ultimately targeting his cherished significant other.

MR. PERFECT starts off humorously, but quickly combines elements from romantic suspense with a thriller that gives the book a cross genre appeal. The romance between the hero and heroine is hot and sexually explicit. The friendship between the women is special and adds to the overall feel of the taut story line as it juxtaposes against the ravings of a solitary lunatic. With her perfect list, Linda Howard is destined to be on the New York Times best-selling list.

Summary: simple easy reading....too unbelievable
Review: This was a great idea...just never full developed. It read like it was written over a weekend....cardboard characters....I almost tossed it when the main characters first slept together and he proposed right then and there....just too simple. All in all a waste of money, I won't make this mistake again.

Summary: Ms. Howard's back!
Review: This book was so good that I read it in one sitting! I've read most of Linda Howard's books. I skipped the last hardcover because the reviews were so bad. However, Ms. Howard redeems quite nicely with this book. The character development was good, the interaction wonderful.

Summary: Couldn't put this one down!
Review: Linda Howard has done it again! Donovan is absolutely the hottest! Jaine is so true to life you can relate to her - and her friends. The verbal sparring between Jaine and Sam is a riot and the sexual tension (in true Howard fashion) becomes so thick you are just dying for the moment they actual get together! As others have said, the whodunit is a "no-brainer", but that doesn't matter with a Howard book because it is her interaction of the characters that really makes it worth the read. Don't hesitate...this is a GREAT read!

Summary: Hmmm..how about Mr. Boring?
Review: Ok, first of all, I'm not going to recap the plot. If you've read the review by Amazon, it's good enough. Second, this book's biggest problem is that it tries to combine two genre's in one, and as usual, the romance is just there so the bookstores will put it in the romance section. This book would have been MUCH better if 1.- She didn't have so many characters. 2.- The who-done-it was more of a sub-plot..HEELLLOOO, this IS supposed to be a romance novel, right? And 3.- Jaine and Sam needed more of the spotlight. Linda gave the sub-characters too much voice and as a result, the main characters suffered. Personally, this was better than her last three, but the style was about the same, and it's definately NOT worth a repeat performance. I, for one, think her best work involving a large group was Heart of Fire..the characters had a voice but there was no doubt who the stars were. PLUS, the sex scenes were WAY better. Anyone who doubts me, read and compare. As characters go, Jaine and Sam are the best two to date, they just got stuck in a lackluster book..It's a shame really, because what dialogue Linda did manage with those two was really good. So, my thoughts? Get this from the library cause you won't want to waste your money. Believe me.

Summary: Laughed out loud
Review: I started this book and never put it down until I finished it, except when I had to dry my eyes from laughing so hard that I cried. While I agree the murderer was pretty easy to pick out, the best parts of the book are the relationships between the characters, the romance AND the friendship! I eagerly await Linda Howard's next book.

Summary: A reader from Alabama
Review: This book has to be one of Ms Howard's best. Not only has sheput forth her usually talent in intrigue, she's added a new dimension--humor. A wonderful spark.

Her heroine is spunky and very witty. The relationship between the hero and heroine is hot! This book has everything for the reader. Sex, laughter, sadness, suspense, and a very happy ending. You will not be disappointed.
