Summary: Mr. Perfect not so perfect
Review: Mr. Perfect is the first novel I have read by Linda Howard and I have to agree with one of the other reviewers - 3.5 stars.

I found the mystery parts of the book pretty intriguing and suspenseful, but the romance parts, I would have to say were really not that exciting and really not believable in some parts. The dialogue between Janie and Sam was often times hilarious and I found myself laughing out loud as well. The concept of "The List" and the plot around the list was interesting along with the murders occurring because of the publicity generated. Howard did do a really good job on the interaction of all of the characters and their development.

Based on this book, this author is not one in which I would run out and get her next book to read as soon as I could.

Summary: A Fabulous Read!
Review: I've always enjoyed Ms. Howard's writing, but she has truly outdone herself with "Mr. Perfect". The mix of humor, romance and suspense is just right. I laughed out loud so many times while reading this book, my husband began to think I'd lost it. Jaine is a great character, prone to cursing and jumping into the middle of fights. The banter between Jaine and her neighbor, Sam, is witty and quick. Do yourself a favor and pick it up.

Summary: not bad
Review: first of all i have to say that i love most of linda howard's books. but this one was not one of her best. when came it came to romance not half as good as shades of twilight and when it came to suspense not half as good as dream man. i think that ms howard should stick with for usual writing style. the humor was good and would love to more of that in future books. i didn't like the way she wrote only from the heroine's perspective. the didn't seem to have any dept and unlike her other books you are not transported into the pages. i thing this book was more romance than suspense and the romance was not that great! romance novels should be more romantic not with a heroine that has been in love a number of times.

Summary: Not Perfect, But Not Bad - 3.5 Stars
Review: There were things that I liked about this book very much -- gutsy heroine, dynamic hero, and an interesting storyline. The characterizations were all quite good, and the plot moved along at rapid clip. Howard is a very competent writer, at times inspired, and she adds some really nice humorous touches. What I didn't like about it was the eagerness of the heroine to leap into bed with the hero so quickly. Like, she's supposed to be smart, right? There's nothing wrong with using raging hormones as motivation; in fact, most romance novels are based on this. But to me a book is so much more interesting when there's more tension and when the characters keep control of themselves longer; anticipation is half the fun. While I think it could have been better, all in all, this was an enjoyable book.

Summary: Mr Perfect is the PERFECT READ!!
Review: What I loved most about this book is the dialoge. I caught myself so many times laughing out loud to the antics of the main characters Jaine and Sam. Their strong personalities just made for a great read. Every friday night Jaine and her 3 coworker friends get together for happy hour. One particular night they were talking about the Perfect Man. As part of the fun, they compiled a list of "perfect requirements". What started out as a joke between friends suddenly esculated into a full blown controversy. Somehow, the tv stations, magazines, and internet webbies got ahold of this list. Most people got a good laugh out of it. But someone didn't. Someone crazy enough to take it personally . Someone who wanted these women dead. Suddenly, Jaine and her friends are trying to stay alive. One of them is dead and they know the killer won't stop until they are all 6 feet under.

Summary: I GOT TO PAGE 64 AND GAVE UP
Review: I seem to be in the minority here, but I couldn't find any reason to keep going with this book. If I hadn't read the "Books By Linda Howard" list in the front, I might have thought this was a "first effort" gone wrong.

Summary: Mr. Perfect
Review: This is one of the worst books I have ever read.

It has a thinly conceived, unlikely plot, and is poorly written and edited (i.e. the thought at the beginning of chapter 2 does not make sense given the ending of chapter 1, the main character's [Jaine's] name is spelled incorrectly toward the end of the book [Jane]). Suggestions to the author and the editor: Invest in spell check software and use it, and actually read the proofs before a book goes into hardback print.

None of the characters are developed to the point that any avid reader would likely care about them, or their demise. The entire concept of the book is in itself demeaning to women and to men, as well as to the mentally ill.

In my opinion this book is absolute trash. Simon and Shuster should be ashamed to have allowed this to go into print. If this is typical of Linda Howard's work, it is a sad statement that she is a "NY Times best-selling author:" A sad statement as to the state of US reader's ability to discern garbage from good writing.

Summary: Bust-a-gut laughter! but no mystery
Review: It's not too often that a book makes me laugh out loud - and more than once - but this one did the trick. (I'm still telling the "mad cow disease" joke to appreciative friends.) The development of Sam and Jaine's relationship kept me interested, the sexual tension and love scenes were hot.

But the 'mystery' was glaringly easy to solve.

Summary: Mystery Solved
Review: In short, the book kept my attention but the mystery wasn't much of a mystery. The love story between the two main charactors was nice but a bit on the "teenagery" side.

The plot/storyline was original/fresh.

Those who enjoy Sandra Brown's thrillers may be a bit let down.

Summary: Mr. Perfect is Perfect
Review: I was hesitant to read this since the preview in the back of the previous book introduced characters that were not very likeable but once I started reading the book I sure changed my mind. I laughed, I cried and my heart pounded. The story is exciting and very suspenseful. What a great read! Buy it! Buy it! Buy it! You will love the characters! I did not want to see the story end.
