Rating: Summary: Great Kay Scarpetta book! Review: This is my second in the series and I can't wait to begin #3, All That Remains. I really enjoy them and highly recommend the series!!
Rating: Summary: Worst Audiotape Performance Ever! Review: I am a big Patricia Cornwell fan and an even bigger fan of murder mysteries on tape or CD. What I've found in all my listening is that the ability of the reader to act out the various voices - to act and not just read, period - is as critical to the listeners' enjoyment as a good plot. I don't know who made the poor decision to enlist Lindsay Crouse as the "reader" of this book, but it was a very bad decision. In the couple hundred audio books I've listed to, she is the third worst - only Jack Welch and the Rich Dad Poor Dad author reading their own books are worse. (Seriously, hire an actor - spend the money and don't do it yourself, particularly if you are a monotone reader or have speech problems like Jack admits he does.) Lindsay has one tone and one voice she uses for all characters, making it both excruciatingly boring and impossible to tell which character is talking at any point. Further, she sounds like she has a cold and talks painfully slowly, I had to keep stopping the tape and backing it up because I kept zoning her out. I have yet to finish the tapes. Do any of you remember the Visine ad guy? She sounds exactly like him but female. I am very frustrated that I paid good money for tapes too boring to get through and I just can't believe any agent or producer (author, for that matter) heard these tapes before they went to distribution and thought, "YES! Yes! That's the voice we're looking for!" I gave it one star only because Patricia Cornwell wrote it.
Rating: Summary: Nice reading, not so nice story Review: This is an easy book to read, I can't tell you that is a page turner or an exciting thriller, but it keeps you reading and interested in the story. The story of the killer is more or less good, but the reason of Sparacino to chase Kay is not so good because you really doesn't know anything about Sparacino. Now, the biggest mistake, Mark, if he is an agent, he can't tell anybody what he is, including his lover, I am wrong?
Rating: Summary: Too Exciting to Put Down! Review: I have read all of Patricia Cornwell's novels and I wait with anticipation for her new release each year. Her books are full of every emotion that a person can feel. Fear, hate, compassion, sorrow, love. It is an emotional rollercoaster with each turn of the page. I have NEVER read an author's work as I have done Patricia Cornwell. I tell everyone to pick up one of her books, and you will read it from cover to cover in one sitting. She is the best!
Rating: Summary: I just lost interested halfway thru the book Review: I know everyone has different interest or opinion. I respect that. Nothing wrong with that. I do love mystery and suspense. I have several favorite well-known authors. For some reason I read this author's books (first two books of the series) and I just lost interest halfway thru the second book and didn't bother finish it. Because I felt that the author was overdoing the character descriptions (unnecessarily wordy with characters as one of other readers had typed on the post) among other things instead of making the story itself or plot more interesting. Who knows the books at later series are much better, I wouldn't know.
Rating: Summary: Best Dr. Scarpetta I've read so far! Review: Body of Evidence is my fourth in the Scarpetta series. I started out with Black Notice and The Last Precinct. After devouring those two, I decided to start at the beginning and read them all. This Scarpetta mystery kept me awake, reading until two in the morning every night until I finished it. Cornwell not only knows how to weave an intriguing mystery, she has the writing skills that keep even the most sophisticated reader interested. Her descriptions are detailed and accurate. She not only can describe a scene, she can show emotion in her characters that brings them alive. She also is able to keep the identity of the killer a mystery until the very end. I can't wait to read the rest of the Scarpetta series.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable, Fun Reading... Educational Too! Review: I really have enjoyed the Kay Scarpetta series... (Postmortem, Body of Evidence, All That Remains, Cruel & Unusual, The Body Farm, From Potter's Field, Cause of Death, Unnatural Exposure, Point of Origin, Black Notice, The Last Precinct). I have read them all except The Last Precinct which I expect to begin very soon. I recommend you read them all for pure pleasure. They are an absolute delight to read. I also recommend these books to you (as well as to my clients) because they are a great way to see how vibration and reflection works with fictional characters while you are learning how your own vibration and subsequent reflections occur... Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: I really enjoyed Body of Evidence. I just discovered Patricia Cornwell and I've been reading all of her books. I love the interplay between characters and the relationships that she builds. My only problem has been that I've been reading them out of sequence. I found Body of Evidence well-written and engaging.
Rating: Summary: Thrilling! Review: I loved the ending! When it was finally revealed how the killer gained entrance, I was surprised. A real page turner, I really enjoyed the read and highly recommend this one as well as any Cornwell book. She really knows how to bring the characters to life. Can't wait to read the next one.
Rating: Summary: Second and going Review: This is the second P.C. novel that I have read and am hooked now. I've already bought the next three in the series. Again a must read.
