Rating: Summary: This was a marvellous read Review: I've just finished the magic circle. And I am still trying to get everything connected. I also read the eight and the other book Neville wrote. I don't understand how she does it. She keeps me wandering around in a world that feel I know and I feel related to but also keeps me in awe and wondering. All the ancient stories. How does she connect them like that? I like the heroine Ariel very much, she is strong and resourceful, but I sometimes don't follow her. I had to read again and again the explanations she came up with, in order to understand the story. I am a writer and I was intrigued. Then I read what she said about writing, and I recognized you can't control it, the leading characters are real and want to make themselves heard. This was a marvellous read. I wish her good luck, inspiration and stamina in writing her next story which I look forward to, too.
Rating: Summary: You wish it never ends! Review: Is great that I found another book from Katherine Neville "The Magic Circle". I discover her in 94 with the "Eight" which I consider one of the most inteligent and facinating novels I read in the 90's. I found it in Mexico City while I was looking for something to read as a rest. Now I'm getting into the Circle and it is just the same, a story with the end you don't want to happen, you don't want it ever to stop.
Rating: Summary: Waiting for the next! Review: I'D LIKE TO THANK KATHERINE NEVILLE FOR THE GREATEST MOMENTS IN THIS LAST THREE DAYS THAT I READ "THE MAGIC CIRCLE", I THINK IS VERY SIMILAR TO "THE EIGHT", BUT MORE HISTORIC AND TOO MANY NAMES; I FEEL A LITTLE DISAPOINTED BECAUSE IN "THE MAGIC CIRCLE" EVEN SHE DOESN'T MENTION THAN IMPORTANT CULTURES LIKE THE "MAYA, AZTECA OR INCA" FOR EXAMPLE, WHICH ONES HAVE MANY REFERENCES ABOUT SACRED PLACES AND MISTHYCAL MEN THAT IT COULD BE INTERESTING FOR THE COURSE OF THE NOVEL, HOWEVER, IT IS AN EXCITING STORY. I WAIT FOR HER NEXT GREAT NOVEL.
Rating: Summary: I hope Katherine Neville keeps researching and writing Review: I read "The Eight" when it first came out and was very much intrigued. I have lent and/or recommended it to everyone I know. I also enjoyed "A Calculated Risk", but not to the same extent. I am in the process of reading "The Magic Circle" and it is everything I hoped from having read "The Eight." Rating: Summary: Information abounds Review: Have just completed the Magic Circle (what can I say, living in a third world country is hell when it comes to buying books). I love all the information that Neville adds to the books. Great to hear that she will bring out a sequel to The Eight (my fave book this side of The Lord of the Rings).
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: I am a former bookseller, and The Eight was my favorite "hand-sell" to both men and women -- I had a shelf-tag that said simply that it was one of the best books I'd ever read -- Often I would recommend it, but the customer would have already read it (and loved it). The challenge then became finding another book they would enjoy as well! I think The Magic Circle will live up to that expectation.
Rating: Summary: A fan for life. Review: I discoved "The Eight" when it first hit paperback and enjoyed it as much as anything that I had ever read - I must have recommended to over 100 people and bought twenty-some-odd copies as gifts.I also enjoyed "A Calculated Risk" - but, in no way as much. If that was all that I had read of hers, I would have considered it successful but "TheEight" set a standard that was much higher. I feel that "Magic Circle" returns to that standard. Neville manages to pull some difficult things off because of skill and a very good plot. The "Joe is really your father" and "Mary, a long lost sister" type of thing became tedious and predicable in other mysteries where some character who no one knew was the same person who left town 20 years ago with his mother when she became pregnant by the town banker - but Neville interweaves it so well in the same family that it fits nicely. In short, I enjoyed it tremendously. I hope she keeps them coming
Rating: Summary: Great Three! Looking forward to her next! Review: I just finished reading all three of Katherine Neville's books, although not in order. I read The Magic Circle first which prompted me to read The Eight and then A Calculated Risk. Three fascinating books although I still favor The Magic Circle. Reading the Magic Circle awakened an interest in biblical history and I have since gotten side-tracked with the Dead Sea Scrolls. I'm looking forward to her next book.
Rating: Summary: A definite keeper. Highly recommended book! Review: At Chrismas there was a waiting list of 75 people at our local bookstore trying to get The Magic Circle in hardback. They said the paperback was about to come out, so I decided not to wait, and ordered the hardback from here instead so I would be sure to get one. Am I glad I did. I've now read the book twice and it's definitely a keeper. I'd highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Could not put it down! Review: I took The Magic Circle to the beach with me and I couldn't put it down. It came back full of sand! Now I have to buy another copy for myself, along with all the extras I am buying for my friends! Great book.
