Rating: Summary: Something totally new and different Review: I agree with those readers who said The Magic Circle is a Tour de Force. A book that covers two thousand years and is able to connect all that history and mythology is really incredible. It seems to me that many reviewers have been nit-picking things they didn't personally agree with, and have missed the forest for the trees. Who cares if the romantic scenes in her books are not to your personal taste? There are only TWO of them, for heavens sake, in a 500 plus page book. I have read the book three times now, and each time I learn something new. Furthermore, there is no other book like this one in the world. So if you want something totally new and different, this is it!
Rating: Summary: I recommend it to everybody I know Review: I would like Neville to write a book sometime about her experiences living in Harlem. I saw her interviewed on television, about when she worked with the Black Panthers, and I think a book like that would be quite a treat! Meanwhile, I'd say that if you don't want to think about other cultures, don't read her work. As for me, I recommend it to everybody I know.
Rating: Summary: Amazing author! Amazing book! Review: The Magic Circle is a book that changes your life. Or maybe it doesn't because some people maybe don't want to change their life. Anyway, I love it. You know I read her other books too, but this one, I read it the minute it came out in Spanish. It was the week Octavio Paz died, and I thought maybe he was speaking to her. Amazing author. Amazing book.
Rating: Summary: Enjoying every word! Review: I absolutely love Katherine Neville's books! A friend of mine told me about The Eight and I LOVED it! I guess it was a little bit more personal for me, since Catherine Velis and I share the same birthday (but not the same year). The book influenced me so much that I recently learned to play chess. I also finished A Calculated Risk. Another great story! I'm almost done with The Magic Circle and I've enjoyed every word so far. I think what I've liked most about all 3 books is the sense of humor in her writing. She has provided such wonderful entertainment for me and her many fans worldwide. I hope she keeps up the great work!!
Rating: Summary: Lots of fans in Spain Review: I'm a Spanish journalist. I read The Eight and The Magic Circle, and I found them wonderful. I read a lot, usually a pair of books in a week, and I don't lie if I tell you that these are two of the most perfect books I read. I hope she writes soon again another one, and I hope we can get it in Spanish. I know that she has here a lot of fans. Thanks very much for give us the pleasure of her stories.
Rating: Summary: BEST! Review: The Magic Circle is one of the best books I have ever read. My husband agrees. He thinks that if she could turn out books like this a little faster she'd be twice as big as John Grisham.
Rating: Summary: Better than chocolate! Review: I'm a single mom, full time student, and lifelong reader of good books. I think Katherine Neville's books are some of the most exciting and intriguing books written today, and I read a lot of books. Thanks to "The Eight", I am learning to play chess, and teaching my six year old son, too, and now after just finishing "The Magic Circle", I have all sorts of ideas for my upcoming Archaeology papers. I live in Utah, and thought it quite amazing that she incorporated Salt Lake City into the book. I really look forward to more books of hers, and will spend the time waiting by rereading the ones I have. I always seem to find something new I missed the first few times I read them. They are better than chocolate.
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: I just finished reading "The Magic Circle". I loved it! The theme of a continuity of religious symbolism is a favorite of mine and I don't get much time to read up on it. I read "The Eight" when it came out, and I think I'll read it again. I am presently reading "A Calculated Risk".
Rating: Summary: Thank you for sharing your journey Review: I have just finished the Magic Circle and am again delighted to have had the opportunity to travel with Katherine Neville through her storytelling. I first discovered her work in the "Eight" some four years ago at the public library, and was very disappointed to find no other book listed under her name. Fortunately, I again came upon her book "A Calculated Risk" a couple of years ago and was again pleasured by her storytelling. However, it did not seem to be at the same pitch of the "Eight". Now, with her newest story, she has reached an even higher resonance. The initiatory process has been perhaps the fundamental construct of my life experience to date. Her take on this subject covered many of my own diverse studies and it was heartening to have them played out in such a dramatic way. We now are entering the transitional point where it seems we either will crash and burn again, or launch into a new realm of universal interconnectedness. My thanks go out to the author for being there and sharing her journey with this reader.
Rating: Summary: I'm hooked! Review: I just finished reading the Magic Circle. I enjoyed it as much, if not more, than The Eight and Calculated Risk. Can't wait for the next one. I just can't seem to get enough of Neville's books. I admire her style and depth and am amazed at the detail of her research. She certainly doesn't cut corners! I found the discussion on Hitler and the occult extremely interesting and I wondered how much of The Magic Circle is actually factual. What also struck me was "as above, so below." I'm hooked and would like to know more about which of the sites in Greece have this mystical connection. She has given me many hours of pleasure and provided illuminating insights. Great book for the new millenium.
