Rating: Summary: Terrific Read! Review: I'm a fan of all of Katherine Neville's books. She doesn't let you down. This one grabs you from the start and doesn't let go until the end. The setting and plot twists are magical.
Rating: Summary: What happened Katherine? Review: I continue to be a fan of her other work, but would not reccomend Magic Circle. If you are into New Age mysticism, you'll love it. But for those of us who like the plot to go somewhere, forget it. Hours of tedius reading led to an unresolved ending. Too bad. Neville is brilliant and promising.
Rating: Summary: Music to my mind Review: This book is more musical than Cecilia Bartolli
Rating: Summary: Oh Thank God(s)! Its Greek to me. Review: Loved this book with all the greek myths 'n such. Wish the greek publishers got it together and get Katherine Neville's books translated and published here for poor us that have to read all the greats in other languages.
Rating: Summary: The best of Neville so far Review: I have read all of Katherine Neville's books and I think this one, The Magic Circle, is the best of the three. I was honestly astonished to find an American author involved in re-thinking history, first French history, in her previous work, The Eight, and now German history with this book. To me and my friends, it was quite refreshing. But I am not surprised to see that this author is sometimes being attacked. Those who stand up for ideas usually are. I always look forward to a new book by Katherine Neville, and especially the next one, since I am an artist, and I understand that her next work is about painters.
Rating: Summary: Josef of Arimathea and Santiago Review: Caterine Neville is very excellent on world myths and also the esoteric sciences. In Magic Circle, she writes about the visit of Santiago - St James - and Josef of Arimathea at La Coruna, that once was the ancient Celtic Brigantium, which almost nobody outside Spain know about. I find her books very very interesting to read and to think about with always new looks at old things.
Rating: Summary: FABULOUS - in every sense of the word! Review: How can you describe a book that's filled to the brim with mythology and fables - other than to say that it is absolutely *fabulous* - a feat of mythological proportion? Like the Labors of Hercules, Neville has pulled off a mind-boggling task. World Literature stands in a class apart, and this is certainly one fine example.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK! TROGLODYTES BEWARE!! Review: Am I glad I read this book BEFORE I read those other(negative)reviews! And since some reviewers seem to have set themselves up as the Thought Patrol, trying to prevent people from reading it - I thought I should go on record as agreeing with the positive reviews, which would seem to suggest that Magic Circle is a book that will appeal to readers who are independent thinkers, readers who want to look at things in a new way, learn something new while enjoying a fun-filled spin through history. This is a terrific, absolutely smashing, page-turner of a book. Even a great book. But it is definitely NOT recommended for intellectual Troglodytes.
Rating: Summary: You Can't Put It Down! Review: Katherine Neville's book, The Magic Circle, is absolutely phenomenal!I am not by nature a "novel" reader, but her writing is amazing; and the research! I know that it is often said 'I can't put it down,' but it is true; I can't! I look forward to reading her other books...and I thought that Trevanian was good?! Blessed Be! Aloha Nui loa! A Hui hou!
Rating: Summary: Deep and profound Review: I'm still in the process of completing "The Magic Circle" and intrigued by how much of what she writes is expressing the knowledge that I myself have been led to over many years as well as pointing to connections with people I have met. My own life is obviously part of the greater story, so one might think of me as one of the "messengers". I'm truly moved by the depth of this profound book.
