Rating: Summary: You Never Know About Crazy Sisters! Review: Avery Delaney has always tried to put the past far behind her. Unwanted by her schizo, conniving so-called mother when she was three days old, she was raised by her grandmother and Aunt Carrie. When she was eleven, she witnessed her grandmother's horrific death, before Avery herself was shot and left for dead.Miraculously, she survived. The man who did this is serving time in a Florida prison. This experience propels Avery into a life of law and order. Her razor-sharp mind and ability to gather data and decipher evidence has made Avery an expert in crime solving for the FBI. But soon, she is in danger, and will have to use every one of her skills in a case that hits close to home. And very painfully. Avery's workaholic aunt, Carolyn Salvetti, was sent a gold embossed reservation to a fancy spa in Utopia, in the mountains of Colorado. She figures it will be a welcome respite from the advertising business, not to mention a networking extravaganza. Then she persuades Avery to join her for the two weeks of luxury and decadence. But this vacation never happens. Jilly, the crazy sister is out there pulling some very cruel and murderous pranks. Just wait until you read.
Rating: Summary: Shallow characters, OK plot Review: These were the most one-dimensional characters I have ever come across. The good characters were so incredibly perfect both physically and morally, and the bad ones so evil, I kept expecting the next page to be a cartoon panel showing them donning their super-hero and arch villain costumes. I was rooting for the bad guy, he seemed the most human. The minor characters were all mindless robots incapable of showing more than one attitude or response. A shame, since the plot was actually interesting.
Rating: Summary: Fun characters and a fast=paced read... Review: If you're looking for a meaningful novel with subtext and complexity, this isn't it. What you'll find instead is a fun book that I read in a weekend. I was delighted to see the return of Noah to help Avery & John Paul rescue Avery's aunt from a hired killer, Monk, who we first met in Garwood's novel, Mercy. But you don't have to read that book to appreciate this one. The romance is a bit stretched -- but you'll end up falling a little in love with John Paul anyway!
Rating: Summary: It is as suspenseful as I had hoped! Review: I love Julie Garwood's books ~~ always have and this one is no exeception to the rule. I have to admit that I am glad she is also writing suspense novels ~~ I am addicted to that genre and it's a thrill to have one of my favorite authors writing in that area of reading as well! Killjoy is a suspenseful book about Avery, a FBI employee, who was supposed to have met up with her aunt in Aspen, Colorado for a couple weeks of relaxation time at a spa. Only her aunt never showed up there. Avery then joins John Paul, an ex-Marine who was searching for the hired assassin, Monk Edwards, to find her aunt and rescue her before she dies. The plot thickens and twists and turns ~~ and the person behind the plot is so sinister that even my breath is taken away. And I have read a lot of suspense books. Garwood is a talented writer that knows how to hook her readers into her imagination ~~ and keeps them entertained and enthralled till the last page is turned. This book is no different. It is more violent than Mercy or Heartbreaker ~~ but still, I enjoy her writing and how she manages to keep the reader guessing the truth till the very end. This book is such a nice pace from the gloomy spring Ohio has been enduring ~~ it's a perfect book to while away a gloomy afternoon. 5-25-03
Rating: Summary: very good read Review: This book is the third in this series of connecting characters. The book was typical Garwood style writing and all though different from Heartbreaker and Mercy with all the traveling around with Avery, it was still a very good book. I have this book on my keeper shelf and have read it more than once. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes Julie Garwood.
Rating: Summary: Bad book from a good author Review: A strange and violent story from an author I'd come to enjoy reading. Usually Julie Garwood mixes humor and mystery with a fairly believable plot. Not this time. The plot was just ludicrous, the humor lame, and the characters might have been cardboard cutouts. If this is the path she's following, I'll look for someone else to entertain me.
Rating: Summary: It's my First Time Review: This was my first time reading this author. I must admit, it was an interesting book, until I started forseeing events before they happened. The beginning of the book got me interested enough to read the story, I mean Avery's mom was a real trip. I was thinking Carrie was going to be one way and then she did a 360 on me. I was like oooh I don't like her, she acted like a spoiled, I've always had everything all my life and I need this done right now kinda of person, she could have been a bit more humbled. Then the whole Avery and Mr. ex-FBI, southern talking, jock falling in love while jumping in rivers and down water falls, yeah right! I did enjoy the whole evil sister parts,I thought she was just delightful. I wanted to know was was in the third letter. It was a fun quick read, no Jackie Collin's Lucky though, but okay.
Rating: Summary: Great Read! Review: This is the first time I have read Julie Garwood and I have to admit to being very impressed. The story is non-stop action. The characters are well written and very likable (or not). Garwood's style of writing is a pleasure too. It's easy and flows well, even though the chapters tend to skip from one view point to another--this just adds to the suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good suspense novel with some passion thrown in. A definite thumbs up from me :)
Rating: Summary: Killjoy Review: I have read all of Julie Garwood's novels and I feel this is the best one she has written. Killjoy was a book I didn't want to put down until the very last page.
Rating: Summary: KILLJOY - a can't put down book!! Review: This is the first Julie Garwood book I have written but I know plan on going back to read "Heartbreaker" & "Mercy". It was suspenseful and a fast read. I loved the quick wit of some of the characters!!
