Summary: An exceptional page-turner
Review: Awesome!! I highly recommend this book

Summary: Raves, or Ads?
Review: A piece of advice to surfers reading these reviews: a rave is one thing, but one that seems so worshipful of the text in question as to be nearly orgasmic should be highly suspect of being less a neutral review and more an advertisement submitted by paid employees of the publisher.

Summary: Implausible story with many technical inaccuracies.
Review: Implausible story with many technical inaccuracies, and with unrealistic characters (even allowing for poetic license). The technological aspects of the book were not authentic. I believe this book had the potential to be excellent. More research, better writing, and better editing would have helped.

Summary: The more you read, the more you want to read. It's great.
Review: This book keeps you guessing the whole way through without ever giving a clue to the outcome. The characters appear real and the real life situations are something you hope to never experience. Pardon the cliche, it's spellbinding and I could hardly put it down.

Summary: Good Plot No Excuse For Poor Technique
Review: The plot is engaging, even the characters, but the poor techique and skill with which this book was written was just distracting enough to keep me from complete enjoyment of this thriller. Much of the flaws I was floored to think had gotten past the editor's desk without correction, some so glaringly apparent as to be mistakes not made by any serious writer since High School.

Things such as shifting tense in mid-narrative, or the use of what is called "author's voice" where the author himself intrudes on the story to expose some plot point instead of doing it through the perspective of one of the characters. In fact, shifting point of view is so repleat throughout the book that I had to stop and sigh each time it happened in pure annoyance.

Still, the story and plot were engaging enough for me to keep at it. I finished the book and was even satisfied with the ending. And if getting me to read his book was all the author was about, then he accomplished his goal. But he could have made the experience a much more smooth and less jarring one for me. And I unfortunately am unlikely to buy the next one.

Summary: A thrill to read from start to end.
Review: David Baldacci weaves a rather complicated plot like a master tailor. Everything from economic theory to the frightful advancement of our hi-tech society is woven into a story so enthralling, one will have a hard time putting this book down. And unlike other "renowned" authors, Baldacci's character development pulls you more into his story making you a part of the book rather than a reader of it. Baldacci is the reader's author in that he knows what his readers will want and he writes exactly that. Something to make you think, and make you feel, this book will surely make you yearn to read more of Baldacci's work.

Summary: Outstanding! The best author ever to write!
Review: I have to say, after reading Absolute Power I thought to myself, "How could someone write this good?" Never before has such an author kept my interest in a book like this one. Now he does it again with Total Control. The suspense is out of this world. The storytelling is unbelievable and the book overall is flawless. Too bad you can't give a book 10 stars. This one well deserves it!

Summary: Mystery A minus, Human interest, zero: Irritating
Review: The characters in this book are not even one-dimensional: They are name-tags on games pieces moved around by the author. What description he gives of their persons and concerns are sketchy and cliched. Lazy, lazy writing. But the mystery is compelling, so I read on, resentful of how much time it takes to find the solution to an totally abstract puzzle without emotional content.

Summary: Highly intriguing - more depth than Grisham
Review: My third David Baldacci book - just as captivating as Absolute Power, as unnerving as The Winner - imagine that people have this much control. I find this authors plots to have more depth than Grisham. I finished it last night and can't wait to start A Simple Truth. Baldacci is my new favorite writer.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Heart-Pounding - Start to Finish!
Review: Within the first 15 pages of this book, Baldacci spins the tale and continues the heart palpitations through the end. This is the second Baldacci novel I have read and I am thoroughly hooked! If you love action, drama and intrigue, you have to read Baldacci.
