Summary: Connelly doesn't disappoint!
Review: Angels Flight is not as good as Void Moon, but it is still a great crime novel. Connelly is your better-than-average crime/suspense novelist and he doesn't disappoint with Angels Flight. Harry Bosch is great & the story basically is about the murder of 2 people, one being a high-profile lawyer. It is better than just your average 'whodunit' as it is still political enough to be interesting and still clever enough to keep you guessing throughout the book, with enough twists to make it believable. After a few crappy crime/suspense novels that I have read in the last couple of days, Connelly was just the ticket to get me back into great ones again & I have just ordered all his books!

Summary: Bosch is back and I'm glad.
Review: "Angels Flight" is Mtchael Connelly's sixth Harry Bosch novel and its wonderful. Harry is asked to look into the murder of a Los Angeles lawyer famous for successfully suing the LAPD. The lawyer is killed just before a new trial is about to begin. Harry must investigate other cops and the seemingly resolved case of kidnapping and murder of a young girl comes into play. As usual, Harry's personal life is a mess and his new wife reverts to old habits. Racial and political themes run through the story. Michael Connelly is the best police/detective novelist writing today and I say this with all due respect to Block, Parker, and Lehane. If you have not read any of the Harry Bosch series I strongly suggest that you read them in order of publication.

Summary: One of the best in the Bosch series
Review: Angels Flight was one of the best in Connely's Harry Bosch series. You can't put this book down! While the whole series up to this point has been excellent, I think this book is going to stand out for me, even after I read the last three, as one of the best (out of 9). This book just had the right combination of everything- suspense, murder, drama, intrigue, mystery, excitement and twists and turns. In this book Bosch seems to come up against everything possible: fellow officers & law officials, his wife and close friend, a city on the edge of rioting, more than one murder to solve and one of the most powerful families in LA. Anyone who knows Harry knows he's capable of fighting anything though and winning. And any fan of Connely's knows his writing is far above the rest.

Summary: Murder,mayhem,pedophiles, riots ,intrigue-it's all here!
Review: This is the first Connelly book I have rated under 5 stars and I given much thought as to why, in my estimation, this is the case. The plot...the mystery...the ingenuity...everything is there.So what is missing? The Harry Bosch that I know and admire has changed.He is not the Harry I met in the tunnels of Vietnam in The Black Echo, and accompanied through Black Ice, Trunk Music, The Concrete Blonde and The Last Coyote. Although it is a magnificent read, somehow Michael has softened Harry and in doing so has lost his personality - has lost his ramrod features and his very nature. In my opinion, Connelly must get back on track and let Harry be Harry, and Michael be Michael. I read his story on his site (michaelconnelly.com), in which a man berates him, saying if he had children he would never write such graphic books about brutality etc., especially to children. And Michael says he did not understand until he had a child himself. I have children,and, of course, I would not want any evil to befall them, but that has nothing to do with what I read and where the real world is, where such things happen and where it is up to people like the old Bosch to make it right. I hope Michael will give us back the old Bosch in the next novel - the Bosch with the stregnth of character and yet the sweet,lonely vulnerability that made Bosch, the Bosch we know and admire. This is a book not to be missed, but one in which Michael misses the mark of the genius he has so wonderfully portrayed before.

Summary: Welcome back Bosh - you've been gone too long
Review: WOW! What a read. Wish there were more stars to award this book. Michael Connelly has brought Harry Bosh back in full glory. The twists and turns are all there, as Chief Irving pairs Bosh with his old nemesis, Sustain Chastain, to solve a case that combines all the dangers of every case that has been in the public view over the past 10 years. There is only one problem with this book, and that is that Michael Connelly has totally ruined every other author on the market for me. I can no longer enjoy mysteries or adventure stories by any other writer. So I have to read trash until Connelly issues his annual fare. I find myself re-reading Concrete Blonde and Trunk Music because the re-read is better than the first read of any other author. Keep 'em coming, Michael. Bosch is the best of them all.

Review: Angels Flight is the pinnacle of Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series. A brooding, somber look at race relations and politics in the world of Police Investigation, and a captivation read from start to finish. Harry Bosch is a true hard jaw hero, caught in a web of lies, politics, and a city ready to explode from racial tension. Bosch may be unorthodox in his methods but we root for him all the way because despite his short comings and inner demons, he is the perfect reflection of us, and how we do what ever we can to see justice served. To the cold start to the shocking final chapter, Angels Flight ranks right next to The Poet as one of Michael Connelly best work to date, and in my opinion, this is the best of the Harry Bosch novels, and it's a great staring point to anyone who has not have the privilege to read this fine series.

Summary: Good writing, good reading, good book
Review: This book has the seal of Michael Connelly, it has to many turns, but the problem with that is that you know that if the book has many pages left, the person who they thought was the bad guy it is not.
This book will keep you reading and interested in the story and the clues that they discover are visible, you will understand why, not like Jeffery Deaver's detective Rhyme who deduct the things from nowhere and you sometimes not understand why.
At the end of the book you will see that politics are politics and nobody can change that.

Summary: One of the author's best work
Review: I am on a Michael Connelly run as I am doing some summer reading and this year, decided to read the bulk of his works. I read THE CITY OF BONES last year and was so-so about the whole uproar. Well, Mr. Connelly has definitely proven why he is one of the foremost authors in this arena. ANGELS FLIGHT brings together all sorts of topics that all readers of the detective/mystery/thriller novel is interested in: intrigue, the police brotherhood, betrayal, social cynicism and commentary, murder in all of its horror and "glory," and most important of all, Detective Harry Bosch. This time, he is married and watching his marriage fall apart, as L.A is falling apart after the horrific murder of one of its most brutal and ruthless civil attorneys is violently murdered in cold blood. The city is blaming cops all over the place, and again, Harry is singled out to solve the murder or be framed as the fall guy. Unlike THE POET which has a rather implausible finale, or CONCRETE BLONDE which pulls a long-standing character into a rather comprised role of the sociopathic serial killer, ANGELS FLIGHT creates a myriad of characters that may easily be a killer. It is suspense writing at its best and definitely stands alone as one of Connelly's best work.

Summary: Great Listening -- Want to Hear More
Review: This is the sixth book in the Harry Bosch series and I have listened to or read all of the preceding ones. Angels Flight, I believe, is one of the best. It involves many tangents and subplots that give the book depth. Many characters also appear in previous books so I recommend reading them in order. In addition, Dick Hill, the reader of the series, is excellent. I listened to the end of the book while on a long drive. My passenger, who had missed the first 70% of the book (other than my brief summary) was enthralled by it, and commented on Hill's quality performance. Although the Bosch series is described as in the "hard boiled" genre, I don't think this is an adequate description -- I find Harry Bosch much more complex and believable than lead detectives in similar series. Good listening and I'm glad I have a couple Bosch books remaining.

Review: High grade entertainment from the beginning to the end. Harry Bosch enters a cobweb of intrique. Hard to put this book down once you start reading. Lots of fresh twist and turns. Enjoyed it very much.
