Rating: Summary: Prey Rules! Review: The "Prey" series is one of my favorite.Sandford creates some really great characters in this series and one great detective in Lucas Davenport. The stories are always gripping and believable. The action is fast paced and nerve racking. Most importantly, unlike so many other detective novel series by other other authors, the ending doesn't cheat the reader. Start with the first book in this series and work your way through - you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Gruesome and yet excellent!! Review: The eyes, they just had to go. If not, they would haunt you long after the vicims were dead and buried. Cutting them out, that's the ticket. The murder of a well known lady in the town shocks everyone... When Detective Lucas Davenport gets the case, he's not sure he can do it. After recent butal cases, these nasty murders is not what he needs. The eyes is the worst part... Davenport soon realize that he's up against an evil man with a twisted mind and a facination for death, but yet very intelligent. Trying to catch this person will be hard... This is one of John Sandford's first books in the Prey Series (#4). And he shows with this book that he's a great writer. His way of adding twists and caputring you right from the start is only a couple of the things that makes him great. The killer of Eyes of Prey can, to a certain extent, even be compared to Hannibal Lector. The gross almost rituals and the horrible acts. Sandfords way of describing the way the characters think, their desires and their way of acting is unique! Once you're started reading the book you're trapped. No way to get out until you're done with the book. Highly recommended to anyone who loves other Prey-books, and thrillers!!
Rating: Summary: You will want to read all the books in order! Review: The reader is instantly engrossed in the story and the characters. Sandford's hero, Lucas Davenport is likeable and three-dimensional. The reader is drawn to his struggle to come to terms with his job in the police force, his responsibilities to a daughter he rarely sees, and his 'other' life as creator of fantasy war games/simulations. The antagonists in this book and the others featuring Lucas Davenport are chillingly real. The ready becomes easily engrossed in the plot as Lucas attempts to solve crimes both evil and frighteningly ingenous.
Rating: Summary: Action packed Review: There was never a dull moment in reading this book. The more I read the book the more I liked Davenport, not for his strenghts but for what made him human. I had been apprehensive about continuing the prey series, but after this book the Author leaves no decisions to the reader. Must read Rules of Prey, and Shawdow Prey before reading to give more insight into Davenport. Truly fantastic reading!!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Thriller Review: This book got me hooked on John Sandford! I'm currently working my way throught ALL the Prey books now. Can't get enough of Lucas Davenport. Very Cool dude!
Rating: Summary: Dont Look NOW Review: This book scared the hell out of me. It is another win for Sandford. Eyes of Prey will hook from the first page. It was a complete joy to read becuase it was a surpise with each tunn of the page. I have read all the Prey books and if you haven't you are missing one of the best characters in Lucas Davenport. Sandford know how to create a character that make you want to read more about him.
Rating: Summary: Yes for Eyes Review: This is an early "Prey" novel when Lucas Davenport was working as a detective with the Minneapolis Police Dep't. He is troubled by a failing relationship while attempting to solve the murder of a physician's wife. He suspects the doctor is involved despite an ironclad alibi, and clues from a possible witness who may have been with the victim prior to her brutal death which included the removal of her eyes. Sandford shows his ability to take the reader into the depths of madness and to surprise the reader with his deftness to tie together all the loose ends. It is such a pleasure to read a book that you are fully satisfied with and still be surprised at where the author takes you with the ending. This book is highly recommended, both for newer readers and for those who've read the earlier "Prey" novels years ago but may have forgotten how good they really are.
Rating: Summary: Eyes of Prey Review: This is in my opinion the best of the series so far!! Bekker is a perfect villian. He was so perfect that he made into 2 prey novels.
Rating: Summary: Lucas & the maniacal doctor hit the streets of Minneapolis Review: This is my first Lucas Davenport book and I AM IMPRESSED! I read it in two evenings and am now reading "Silent Prey". I found the book humorous, outrageously violent and sad. Quite an array of emotions when you read Sandford. Huh? I just hope that Lucas finishes the job in "Silent Prey" that he started on Bekker in "Eyes of Prey". Bekker deserved to get the daylights beat out of him and more for what he did. I like the Lucas character despite the fact that he is so burned out and same goes for his pal Del. My only comment about Bekker is wonder what Stephanie ever saw in him. I like my males masculine, not prettier than me. I guess I will have to include Lucas Davenport on my list along with Elvis Cole, Joe Pike, and Harry Bosch.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Prey Review: This is the first book of the Prey series that I read and was hooked from page one! Davenport is a tought as nails cop that plays no games. I dont' want to say to much, but the bad guy used Davenport in a cleaver way...I highly suggest that you pick this up. It will be hard to put down, it was for me.
