Rating: Summary: Stumbled upon this prey... Review: I read numerous books and, up until now, haven't read any of the prey series. I was suspect at first, since I'm in academics, I thought this series might be poorly written--as are some popular novels that seem to fly off the book shelves. Having been skeptical at first, I was floored by Sandford's writing and ability to place you right beside Lucas Davenport, and watch the fast-paced plot unravel. Lucas is a self-destructive character that seems to come out smelling like a rose by the end of the book. As of now there are 14 Prey novels, and I have purchased all of them--after reading Eyes of Prey, of course. Eyes of Prey is acutally the third book in the series and catches up with Davenport as he is chasing a killer that has a nasty habit of taking the eyes from his victims. The pace of the book is fast, and the plot is peppered with so many twists and turns that you will be unable to stop reading--I read the book in two days. Davenport is the type of character that keeps you wanting more as you finger each page, anticipating the next exciting plot-twist. I would recommend that you pick up all of the prey books, but start at the beginning--I unfortunatley did not. 14 in all and here are the books in order: RULES OF PREY SHADOW PREY EYES OF PREY SILENT PREY WINTER PREY NIGHT PREY MIND PREY SUDDEN PREY SECRET PREY CERTAIN PREY EASY PREY CHOSEN PREY MORTAL PREY NAKED PREY--just released this year!!!
Rating: Summary: Sandford at his best Review: I started at Mind of Prey, read to the end of the series, thenstarted at Rules of Prey. This is #3 in the series, which is best read in sequence (I somewhat regret not starting at Rules of Prey). This a well done work! It really has all the components -- memorable characters, suspense, and, rare for Sandford, even a little dose of mystery. Underlying the whole story is a theme of drug use, which is presented from different perspectives with a refreshingly neutral perspective. I strongly recommend this one, but after you've read the first two. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is I reserve that rating for truly excellent books... I think this falls just a bit short of that level.
Rating: Summary: Best book I have ever read Review: I thought "Rules of Prey" could not be beaten. "Eyes of Prey" are better. Full of dramatic irony, with the witness to be found. What an idea!! Please, John, write more of those books!
Rating: Summary: the ultimate Review: I was hooked from my very first prey book.I have read them all and can't wait for the next one.I was dissapointed when i read them all and there were no more.I got so caught up in luca's life and need the next book to see if he gets married. He is a very likable character and gets you hooked from the start. It's hard not to like him.I need to read them again.I read only romance until lucas and didn't know i would like murder novels but he changed it all.now i read james patterson too.I couldn't put the books down and became part of them.a must .read the whole series if you read one.
Rating: Summary: Complex and Captivating Review: I'm reading the Prey books in order and this is my absolute favorite so far! Kudos to Sandford for not only having two villains, but making them both interesting characters. Davenport remains the solid, multi-dimensional, not always likeable but always compelling hero. The twist at the end was terrific.
Rating: Summary: Best Prey Book I've Read Review: I've read Eyes of Prey, Easy Prey, Sudden Prey, Mind Prey, and Certain Prey--and I enjoyed Eyes of Prey the most. I liked all the characters, and the plot was just about right, although the relationship with the nun was unnecessary. Sandford has some serious skill, and he flexes it here, more so than in some of his other books. If you haven't heard any of the audio versions of the Prey series, I highly recommend them. Richard Ferrone (sp?) is amazing. Sandford and Ferrone are great together.
Rating: Summary: Awesome read! Review: I,ve read the entire prey series and have enjoyed them all. I especially liked Eyes of Prey and thought Sanford came up with a real lunatic in Bekker!Certain Prey is also a must read! These are the books you absolutely won't be able to put down!
Rating: Summary: Third in Prey series Review: In the third installment, Lucas Davenport finds himself pitted against two killers who have made a Throw Mama from the Train type of arrangement. Davenport also finds himself another woman. If you have read the previous Prey books, you may start to wonder if Lucas bags a chick every time he leaves his house. I started to feel like Sandford was unable to write a Prey book where Davenport wasn't hooking up with a woman, but I did not dwell on it long as this book has a suprise in the form of a mystery witness. Maybe you will figure it out before I did, but it was a nice subplot that took some attention away from the unlikely womanizing by the hero. Read this book, and keep reading the Prey series.
Rating: Summary: Great suspense--will keep you up at night until you finish! Review: It kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. (Or should I say the edge of my bed, because it kept me up until 3:00 AM finishing it?!) After I read this one, I bought as many of John Sandford's other books as I could find. Lucas Davenport is an intriguing and complex hero who grabbed my attention from the beginning. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Attention Keeper Review: John Sandford is incredible. This book along with the other prey books definately keeps your attention. Every book in the series is finished the day I buy it. Do not pass up this series.
