Summary: Starts Slow, But Ends Right On Target
Review: It took almost fifty pages for the book to really get going, but once the torso was finally uncovered, things really started to move. I really enjoyed the book over-all. Dr. Scarpetta has not yet lost her touch. She is still the strong, yet human Chief Medical Examiner that everyone who reads the series loves.

Summary: really exciting book, kept me on the edge of my seat.
Review: this was a really great book....i even got my screen name from it. Cornwell writes exceptionaly well. i am looking forward to future books by her.

Summary: She keeps getting better
Review: I've read all of the Dr. Scarpetta mysteries that are out in paperback and each one gets better. Cornwell is developing a flair for character development. I'm waiting desperatly for the next one to come out in paperback so I can find out what happens next.

Summary: Cornwell Puts A Good Impresion On Me
Review: I am a teenager, and this is the first book by Cornwell that I have read. I was very hooked on it. It took me 5 days to read and I had it all the time. The one downside I found to this book was this: her homosexual sterotypes in it are tastless. For example, because Lucy (Kay Scarpettas Niece) works for the government, Cornwell decides to add a little side plot of her being found out about her being gay. Why does she have to be gay. We can all do without that in the plot. Otherwise, this is an excellent book.

Summary: UNNATURAL EXPOSURE is unnaturally tedious.
Review: I've read some of the ellegantly worded reviews already, and I feel I'll just be repeating what the sharp and savy people on this website have already commented on about U.N. Mind you, This was my first introduction to Pat Cornwell's work ... and let's just say that it was not a complimentary one. Her main Dr. character is too tiring to follow, like some butch dyke superwoman is what I got as an immediate overall impression. And, yeah, the book was way too technical for the level of interest the story really was able to sustain, plus the autopsy and landfill descriptions were definitely far too gross to serve the author up any further accolades as a substantive writer. I had to drop the book back off at the library after the fifth chapter, as I was getting bone weary and irritated with following the antics of this phrenetic, sexually frustrated, borderline psychotic main character. I mean, I work a private job that gets public more than I care to have happen, and I too have to occasionally root around in filthy trash to look for missing radioactive sources. But that doesn't mean I feel to need to ply others with a slop-by-slop description of my experiences.

Observation: From other reviews that I've read concerning her other novels, it appears that P.C. is an uneven writer, and is allowing a favorite main character to grow into a nasty bitch that perhaps better belongs in a women's prison for the elitist, sexist, and aggressively haughty. I don't believe I wish to follow the baby buggy-type bouncy mood swings in such an author's work. (Makes me want to reach for the ibuprofen.) END

Summary: Redundant secondary storylines?
Review: This was the first Cornwell novel I've read. I have since read Postmortem, her first novel. I was disappointed to find some similarities. The criminal sought to harm Kay, someone broke into her office computer (which she thought was impossible--in both stories!), and there was a conspiracy from within the government.

I also prefer to have the crime solved with hard work and good old deductive reasoning instead of sheer luck and a long shot (this applies to both books).

I'm going to try a few more Scarpetta tales and I hope for a little more brain power and a little less redundancy.

Summary: Awesome! Thought it kicked ass!
Review: I really thought this was a good book, I thought it had lots of detail, suspense, and all that stuff. This was the 1st book I've read in a long time, and I would like to read more of this type of story now...

Summary: Intriguing, suspensful...disappointing ending
Review: I am a first-time Cornwell reader, and enjoyed this novel very much. I liked how she developed the characters (even the minor ones) and although the idea of a biological terrorist is nothing new, I felt she presented this one in an original way. The book kept me on the edge of my seat throughout, until the terrorist's motivations were explained. I felt like I was missing something. As a huge fan of Jonathan Kellerman, whose Alex Delaware novels dig deep into the madman's reasoning for his crimes, I was disappointed at the "why" factor for all the mayhem. However, I was thoroughly entertained and look forward to reading another of Ms. Cornwell's books.

Summary: One of the few books that keeps you wondering, who did it.
Review: I happen to hate reading but Patricia entices my mind with all of her background info. Her knowledge of what she is writing about is so genuine. Most authors ramble on but her point comes across and draws a person in. If you have a love for science, mystery or just a heart for a good psycho killer, who done it case than this is the book for you. Anyone who has not yet read this book is missing the most important piece of info they could possibly obtain. Stories like this happen everyday.

Summary: Spectacular, suspenseful, exciting!!
Review: I thought the book was excellent!! I've read numerous books of hers and when I found them on audio books I was thrilled! Both my husband & I travel alot & it makes time go much faster when you can listen to an audiobook. He's hooked on her books now, too! Keep up the great work! I'm looking forward to "Point of Origin." We've turned on several other people to the audiobooks & they love them, too!
