Rating: Summary: Kate Reading is Dr. Scarpetta!!! Review: Of all the various audio books I have listened to during the last year, this one is the most excellent. Although the book was not Patricia Cornwell's best work, Kate Reading has done an exemplary job as the reader. Her steady, smooth voice takes you through every twist and turn in the experience of Dr. Scarpetta. If you are to purchase any audio books, you won't go wrong with Ms. Reading.
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Out of desperation I decided to try a Patricia Cornwell novel. After all, she is so frequently a New York Times Bestseller she must be great. How wrong I was. Throughout the novel I was left wondering how all the forensic legwork was going to lead to the killer and the virus. Well, one never finds out how Scarpetta's efforts lead to the killer, but you do find out who the killer is. A miscellaneous character briefly mentionned in the beginning of the novel. The worst thing any author can possibly do is leave the reader with a weak ending. In this case the ending had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the novel.I am puzzled.
Rating: Summary: First 2/3 of the book is good--last 1/3 DISAPPOINTING!! Review: I enjoyed the first 1/2 or 2/3 of the book--there were some "annoyance factors", but liked the story. What happened then? Was the last third of the book tacked on in an evening or what? The "resolution" was confusing and made no sense to me, there was no further explaination of what happened to 2 major characters that were more fully explored in the beginning, and many loose ends were left open. I stayed up late finishing this book and wish I'd gotten some much-needed sleep--I am starting to feel as ill-tempered and obnoxious as Dr. Scarpetta is beginning to seem! :)
Rating: Summary: Well, it was a book. Review: This was my first time ever reading anything by Patricia Cornwell. Being a high school student I thought that the book wouldn't keep my interest for very long...well I was right. The book in my opinion started off quite slow but as the plot progressed it became a little more interesting. I wish I could say I read it in a matter of days, but the truth is it took me a Little bit longer. I had to read the book in sections because some parts just wasn't doing it for me. The ending was a little disappointing but did provide some closer. Aside from the technical drivel and totally gruesome descriptions, I'd say it was a book.
Rating: Summary: A major letdown Review: The ending of this mystery is an incredible letdown: the loose endings will leave you more mystified than if you'd stopped reading halfway through -- which is what you should do if you're already reading it. I have to put this down to sloppy plotting and worse editing. This is not Cornwell's best.
Rating: Summary: Nothing New Review: Much the same as any other PC novel.Dr Kay is superior, her neice is gay, and all men should be treated with utter contempt. Readable but certainly nothing to be read here that you won't have read in all of her other novels. As I said after the last one I would love to see a Marino based novel with no Benton,Kay or Lucy.
Rating: Summary: Dragged on Review: The description of the book leads you to believe that it's going to be a stalking book more than anything else, but in actuallity the majority of the book revolves around a woman's life and the examination of evidence. The ending royally sucked too. I'm thinking this might be a good book for female activists.
Rating: Summary: This is a real great book!! Review: This is my first time reading Dr. Scarpetta's investigation. I read this book for my high school outside reading. I though it's gonna be another boring book in the first, but I really cannot stop reading the story as I went through it! And I finish it in two weeks because IT'S REALLY GOOD!! Looking for a book for outside reading or whatever? This is a great one!!
Rating: Summary: It was okay but definitely not her best work. Review: Ms. Cornwell left a few strings untied on this murder mystery. I was surprised because this is not her style. Definitely had a interesting ending but it is confusing as to how the reader is supposed to have gotten to this point. As usual, I enjoyed Ms. Cornwell's effort to lead her readers to the climatic moment of intrigue and suspense. I hope she continues to lead us down more paths leading to Dr. Kay Scarpetta.
Rating: Summary: Why so quick?? Review: Once again I was captured by the writing of Ms.Cornwell. Unfortunately she has, once again, disappointed me at the end. Cornwell has the abitlity to keep the reader attached and always wanting more. The new topic of germ warfare was especially interesting. My only complaint is that what should be the climax or final showdown is just simply stumbled upon without any deduction. I feel somewhat let down by the ending of Ms. Cornwell's novels.
