Summary: Excellent read for this first time Cornwell reader
Review: I found this novel to be very fascinating. Especially interesting were the medical terms and proceedures. I plan to read many more of this author's novels now. I was pulled along by the mystery , but I must admit I do agree with those who found the ending to be less thrilling than expected. It was a bit anti- climactic and far less intriguing than the bulk of the text. I would still recommend this novel to anyone, for the majority of the story is quite fascinating. :)

Summary: Excellent!
Review: The gruesome detail in this novel keeps you wanting more and more. An exciting read, especially for those who like the 'technical' details of the autopsies.

Summary: Cornwell is literate - as usual.
Review: Some reviews on this website have been too carping and without analysis. 'Horrendus!' don't mean a thing. All of the Scarpetta books are page turners because Cornwell writes well and knows her subject. In the Scarpettas she is always a writer of perception and quality. Central characters in Hornet and Southern Cross were two-dimentional and the plots didn't 'pull' the reader along. I agree with the reviewer who sees the flaws in the awful Benton. We have only Cornwell's word for his great IQ. In the Scarpetta novels Ms.Cornwell doesn't (yet?) seem to see how well Scarpetta and Marino are suited in the way that Sipowitz and the Lady are. Marino is a truly memorable character. Give him space Ms. Cornwell. That would be SOME book. I always buy in HB on publication day - in England we have to wait. It's always worth it. I'm a novelist too and know a good novel when I read one.

Summary: I can highly recommend this book.
Review: This was a great story. The ending really surprised me, although I should have figured it out. Patricia Cornwell is one of my favorite authors, although she lost me with Hornets Nest and Southern Cross. I decided to give her another chance when I picked up UE. I wasn't disappointed in the least. I wish the ending was a little more exciting and on edge, but overall a much better book than the other two mentioned above. I would have given this book five stars except for Benton. Why is he always a shadow figure? He never really developed a personality that makes him seem like a real man. He is always in the background, just a fill-in character. Lucy did not get on my nerves, for once, she seemed to be more of a comfort to her aunt rather than her usual spoiled self. I will definitely pass this one on.

Summary: Start at the Beginning
Review: This was originally the first Scarpetta novel I read, actually heard as I listened to the unabridged tape version. I enjoyed it, I did not find the ending disappointing or a let down, although there were loose ends. It enticed me enough to read more of her books. I started with the first and read through, reading UE again. The whole thing was more enjoyable the second time when I had all the background and the loose ends did not bother me so much because I hope/assume they will be addressed in time. Scarpetta is getting a little "mean" but I think its good insight into human character and how what we do influences who we are. I recommend Cornwells books if you enjoy the process of a series with its long term character development.

Summary: Thriller, kept me on the edge of my seat
Review: I haven't read a book this good in years. It kept changing then in the end she tied all the cases in togater as a whole.

Summary: What happened to the climactic ending?
Review: This was the first Patricia Cornwell book that I've read and I was impressed with her attention to detail. It was a good read, but the ending? Where's the climactic ending? It was as if the author ran out of time and came up with some lame ending just to meet a deadline. After reading the reviews of her other books and I might take a chance and read another one of her books.

Summary: My thoughts about unnatural exposure
Review: Well, I just got finished reading the book and i am sorry that I kept it put away for so long. It is a wonderful book and Patricia Cornwell did a magnificent job writing this one. I think out of all of them, this one is my favorite. Some parts confuse me like the medical words she uses in it, but it is very well put together. If you like mystery, you should read this book.

Summary: Predictable
Review: This is the second novel I have by Patricia Cornwell, and I was greatly disappointed. I felt that there was too much personal struggle and not enough action. One minute the book is dealing with Kay's personal issues and then the book goes back to the terrorist. The themes did not blend as smoothly as they did in The Hornet's Nest.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Nice details, interesting plotting, a bit tedious
Review: This was the second Kay Scarpetta novel I read. I especially enjoyed the autopsy details, and (since I've missed several of the novels) the tidbits of the characters' pasts. As with the other Kay Scarpetta book I read, I found the pace of the writing to be a little tedious, however I enjoyed the story enough to keep going. The way Cornwall handles the difficult social issue of homosexual acceptance through the chracters of Ring and Lucy made a nice side line to the progression of the story as a whole. I look forward to getting and reading more of Patricia Cornwall's Kay Scarpetta novels.
