Summary: Was that Grisham?
Review: The Street Lawyer was probably the worst Grisham book that I have ever read. It seemed to have been thrown together too quickly. The "danger" the character was in (supension of sentence and possible jailtime) wasn't that dangerous. The characters were flat. After reading The Partner, I expected much more.

Summary: Another Fabulous John Grisham book...
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book, just as I have enjoyed all of John Grisham's previous titles. He is a wonderful author, and I will continue to read all of his works in the future. "Street Lawyer" had such an excellent plot, and I could picture all the characters in my mind as I read (especially Mordecai). I don't understand how some other people on this summary list have given this book such low reviews - I thought it was a great book because it deals with one of the least talked-about social problems in our country. So few people are willing to help the homeless; therefore, if this book "tugs at the heartstring" of more people to help the homeless, then Mr. Grisham has written a very worthwhile book.

Summary: Readable entertainment, but technical legal flaws
Review: As per usual Grisham, the book is entertaining. Grisham should practice more real law, however, and know that you can't settle claims on behalf of clients you THINK you will have, but don't have yet. Also, how much ethical difference does it make, whether the people thrown out onto the street have a legal right to the building, when the outcome in either case is freezing to death?

Summary: a fast read that holds your interest
Review: Grisham has done it again. The Street Lawyer is a very fast read that truly hold your interest. The development of his characters is outstanding. I felt like I was right there with them. The homeless problem is one that I had not given much thought. Truly thought provoking. I'm ready for his next book.

Summary: HEART WARMING STORY!
Review: I have read all of John Grisham's books, and this is among the best. The story was very plausible, and the characters were very believable. The story about Ontario almost brought me to tears. And throughout this novel I kept thinking why isn't something done about this problem. The plot was very real and as I got into the story it was hard to put down. I really do recommend this novel to anyone who cares about our social system and likes John Grisham novels.

Summary: wait for the movie...
Review: Grisham's first still stands as his best, even though I believe my love for that book stems from its similarity to "To Kill a Mockingbird". With the exception of "The Partner" I find little of Grisham to recommend to others. His latest makes great vacation reading - where you might be looking for something "lite" to read. I'd wait for the movie...

Summary: NOW,I'm a Grisham fan!
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book.It wasn't another cookie-cutter law story. It was fast-paced and had enough character developement to make me care, but it didn't get bogged down by excess introspection.

Summary: A thought-provoking treatment of the homeless.
Review: John Grisham seems to relish getting down to the nitty-gritty of a social problem area and at the same time exploit the good guy-bad guy motif to heighten reader interest. This formula continues to make his work both timely and thought-provoking for high school students and adults. It should be recommended reading for curriculum-integrated social studies and English classes.

Summary: Boring propaganda
Review: John Grisham took $27 dollars from me under false pretense. This book is nothing more than page after page of meaningless stastistics and propaganda. The characters are tissue paper thin and the plot development almost nonexistent. Also, if there are so many homeless in Washington D.C. how plausable is it that Grishman's main character stumbles across that one tragic family on his first night in a shelter? Save your time and money - give this one a pass!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Suspensful, heartbreaking, but not as good as The Partner.
Review: I was saddened at the plight of the street people and of poor Ontario and his family. I was able to envision Mordecai without effort, booming voice and obvious presence but the plot was more of a movie script than I would have liked. All in all definately worth a good nights read.
