Summary: Thought provoking
Review: This book captures the attention of the reader by presenting a scenario that forces the reader to address the plight of the homeless. It forces you to examine your own belief through the main character's life changing experience. By reading this book, I doubt if many will get through without wanting to try to do something to make a diffence in our society about the problems the homeless face and how many are trying to change their lives for the better.

Summary: a very pleasant read.
Review: The Street Lawyer. Which I had to by, because I had to know whether this book was different from the other. A very thrilling and exiting novel, I declined lunch on my plane just to continue my reading of the book. I was looking forward to the ending of the book, to see how the storry ended. Is had a nice ending, in line with how the storry progressed. I like John Grisham again. Avery good airline book.As a Person living outside of US, but have lived there I don't know how much of the background that is fact or fiction, on the lives of the corporate US.lawyer. I somtimes feel sorry for him.

Summary: Grisham Takes on Homelessness
Review: John Grisham basically writes two types of novels: legal thrillers where a young lawyer takes on the mob, or courtroom dramas where a young lawyer takes on large corporations. I prefer the courtroom dramas. True, Grisham can get heavy-handed at times with the morals of his novels, but in THE STREET LAWYER, he combines his moralizing with believable and likable characters, something that was missing in THE PARTNER. The last chapter can be taken two ways: either as pure fantasy, or as Grisham's reminder of the good effects huge law firms could create if they would unleash their associates as advocates for the homeless and other disenfranchised members of American society.

Summary: Not his best work but still made me think!
Review: The first few chapters of this latest Grisham novel really held my interest, the story started out with some real action and I was ready to sit down for a nice long read of Grisham. But...it didn't happen. Half way through I thought it just HAD to get better, some twists and turns, surprises, would develop...but it just came to the predictable end. However, the social issue of the homeless stayed with me. Ironically, I have just returned from D.C. for a visit with my daughter and I saw these people in a different light. I had hardly noticed them before. Even though this certainly isn't his greatest novel to date, it did bring something more than just a good read to my attention. There certainly are stong opinions one way or the other on this novel, either you hate it (0) or you love it (10). Nevertheless, we will still be eager for the next work of this most acclaimed author. (My favorite also is "A Time to Kill", his first and best writing.

Summary: The Street Lawyer
Review: I was very disappointed in this novel. I was able to predict exactly what was going to happen, give or take a few thoughts, only after a few chapters. I really expected more from Mr. Grisham. This book was a quick nights read.

Summary: Decent effort
Review: I usually enjoy Grisham's novels; always a fast read, with tight storytelling that keeps you held until the end, where he usually tends to fall apart. Although, I have noticed that as he gets further along in his novel-writing career, his endings have been tightening up a bit, as well. I do agree with some other people that this is not one of his best; the storyline was enjoyable, but at times a bit unbelieveable and simplistic. But sometimes simplistic storylines can be the best. He portrayed the homeless quite believeably, without waxing too melodramatically on their plight. Overall it was a decent effort; perhaps with more time spent on the plotline it could have ranked up there with some of his better works, like The Rainmaker and The Chamber.

Summary: It could happen to you.......
Review: I certainly enjoyed this book. It should make everyone realize you can be a paycheck away from being homeless. I have empathy for those poor street people. It pulled at my heartstrings. Long after the read I couldn't stop thinking "this could be you".......

Summary: Eye-opener
Review: Though, I am not quite finished with the book, I have to say that it definitely has made me more aware of the homeless situation in our country. It has compassion and sensitivity. I don't understand how some readers could have given this book such a low rating. Granted it is not the best of his novels, however, Grisham has tried to open our eyes to a growing problem here in the U.S. It was not a waste of my time to borrow it from the library, and I agree with one critic, that the book would make a great curriculm-integrated book in the 8th-12th grade Social Studies classes. Keep the novels coming,John.

Summary: Different from the other books, but I think it was GREAT!
Review: If you read this expecting another typical J.G. book, you will be disappointed. This book started with a bang and had me waiting for the end, which came too soon. This book is probably the easiest to bring to the big film and I can't wait. For now, I intend to read it again and savor every moment.

Summary: A New Different Take!
Review: Although an avid Grisham fan who owns all and has read every single book he has written, I would not consider this his best book, but definately a good read. I really enjoyed a different twist a different location and the concern for the homeless. Grisham would have to write a really bad book to loose me as his fan.
