Summary: Predictable, slow; politically charged
Review: Grisham's distinterest in writing suspense/thrillers is showing. This story is very predictable; characters are uninteresting. Yes, homelessness is a serious problem--a problem that we all are concerned about.
The story would be more impactful if Grisham had stated that he was going to donate the proceeds from book sales to homeless shelters.

Summary: Touching
Review: John Grisham is back. After a couple of dull novels he has really reached out and touched the hearts of many readers this time. I hadn't really thought about the homeless before I read this book. This book makes me realise that money isn't everything. To love and to be loved is the most important thing in life. A truly touching novel by Grisham.

Summary: And its not my favorate!
Review: Many people have critisized Grisham for writing this book, but I like a bit of a change. This book had more emotion that his previous suspense based novels. (though I still love all Grishams other works) This one was not so much a page turner but it is still a great book. Read it!

Summary: Grisham is becoming a better and more thoughtful writer
Review: I am a lawyer who quit a 6-figure partnership at a large corporate firm to represent injured consumers, so this book did resonate with me. Even though this book may seem schmaltzy and idealistic to some, I thought giving a greedy yuppie a conscience was a wonderful theme for a book, and it's beautifully executed by Grisham. Give it a read!

Summary: Where's Grisham's Action and amazing plot???
Review: Grisham's latest is not Grisham at his best. Thinking of previous books whith amazing twists and turns in the story, I found The Street Lawyer BORING. The story about the young ambitious lawyer that sees the light was not much more to me than a long story to get the space between front and back cover filled. No plot, no emotion, no action.

Grisham can and should do better. Looking forward to another classic like The Partner, The Chamber or The Firm.

Summary: It was fairly good.
Review: This is the first Grisham book I have ever read. It really kept me interested at first, but then the interest started to die off. I needed some romance, or some type of conflict on the side. The beginning was very well written though.

Summary: good
Review: THE STREET LAWYER is an entertaining read, although the moralizing is a bit heavy-handed: you should feel guilty about homeless people. It reminds me of Jane Fonda's recent statement that many living in Northern Georgia are in shacks without electricity...and Georgia's governor (who is from Northern Georgia) said, "Perhaps Jane Fonda didn't get a clear enough view of Northern Georgia from her penthouse." (since she IS married to billionaire Ted Turner.) The same feeling goes here. Grisham (who does generally seem to be a good-hearted soul, and not a hypocrite) is worth tens of millions of dollars, and wants US to ponder the homeless question? He would do better to help the homeless directly with his millions. If I want a straight and intelligent suspense novel, I'll read 10+ thriller novels like Craig Furnas's THE SHAPE. If I want to read about the down-trodden in America, I'll read a Dreiser novel. To mix the two elements with only partial success like Grisham does here, is only to be mildly applauded. But, it is not a bad piece of work altogether. So if you don't get the Furnas novel or a Dreiser novel (try AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY), you might as well get this one.

Summary: good book, bad ending
Review: I love reading John Grisham's books. I am always looking forward to when the next one comes out. I can wait a few more months if it means that his next book will be more complete. I was truly disappointed with the ending of this book. It ended so quickly. It was like there wasn't an "ending" to it. I can't say exactly what it needed, but for me the ending was too abrupt.

Summary: very good!
Review: This book was very well written. The story and the plot is a very good one but I agree with the others that it could have been better if John had taken more time to write it. Over all I really recommend this book to anyone.
