Rating: Summary: WOW!!! Review: Had I known that this book was so socially relevant, I would not have waited for it to come out in paperback. How great it was to read something that makes you THINK about others and enjoy yourself so much at the same time!
Rating: Summary: Great book - Realistic portrayal of homeless plight Review: This book was well-researched and very true in its explanation of the plight of the homeless. I liked the plot twists that could actually have happened - illegal eviction leading to death in a snow-covered car. The author highlighted the details of homelessness the average person doesn't know - I especially liked the character Mordecai Green. Thanks for a great read and a reminder of the reality of life for those around us on city streets.
Rating: Summary: its a different kind of good book as far as grisham goes Review: if uve read the rainmaker, ull love this book. i didnt think it was suspenseful (thats not a bad thing, though it may sound that way) but instead i thought it was very interesting. in fact, it was so interesting that i read it in 3 days. i think this book should be read in public schools instead of all that shakespeare stuff, cause grisham has made a two great characters in michael brock and mordecai green. if ur lookin for an AWESOME read, then get this one.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: Not worth keeping in my bookshelf. Weak story, and Grisham seems to becoming more predictable with his stories. Traditional drawn-out Grisham style, but with no substance. I already have doublt about his new one, The Testament. Let's pray Hollywood will leave Street Lawyer alone !
Rating: Summary: Now I understand why it was given to me Review: I'm a non-native English speaker. One day the Congressman I worked for gave this book to me, he was cleaning his shelves, and said it would be good to improve my English. Now I understand. It is not more than a good thesaurus.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely the worst Grisham book yet. Review: This is by far the slowest, least interesting Grisham published to date. I kept waiting for it to get better, but that just never happened. He was obviously trying to just crank out another piece of work to satisfy a publishing contract. I was a huge Grisham fan in the beginning but am waning quickly. He needs to quit while he's still somewhat ahead.
Rating: Summary: Grisham is becoming predictable Review: One of the worst novels I have read.I used to like John Grisham's novels but with time I have become disappointed. The last one is vintage Grisham except that the vintage has grown stale. This novel has a very predictable plot: young lawyer has an outburst of ethical guilt and puts his firm on the dock. Reading the novel was a waste of time, no value added. Seemed like a cut and past of previous novels. If Amazon had an empty star category, this novel would get it.Somebody should tell Grisham to sit back and relax. Maybe it would be better if he wrote a novel once every two or three years. His reputation might improve.
Rating: Summary: Realistic! Review: This is one of the most realistic stories that I have ever read. It has been a long time since I have read a story that could be this close to non-fiction. of course It's not, but every lawyer has a compasionate side, and this book clearly expresses the true possibility that this may happen in real life. This may not be as interesting as most grisham fans expect but my personal experiences with the homless, from seattle to DC, and the legal profession...This could be real!
Rating: Summary: An average addition to your Grisham collection Review: This book is seems to be written with the sole purpose of highlighting the hard life of the homeless and somehow blaming all this on greedy corporate yuppies who doesn't give a damn about the unfortunate street people. Although Grisham does succesfully create a beautiful and somewhat touching picture of the homeless, the dramatic side leaves much to be desired. All in all, this one might come as a disappointment to Grisham fans, especially those who enjoy fast-paced action. If this doesn't sound interesting to you, then you would want to skip this one and pick up Grisham's next book, The Testament.
Rating: Summary: Terrible for a Grisham novel. Review: Overall, it is ok for a normal book, but is not something I expected from Grisham.
