Rating: Summary: 5 stars at the beggining, 1 star at the end Review: This book starts out with a bang. It becomes, however, more boring as the book goes on. The exciting introduction sets a great foundation for an exciting novel. HOwever, after the introduction, it is all down hill from there. IT becomes boring and unrealistic. It seems as if Grisham is tryin to make a good novel and also portray the lives of the homeless. This however, is very hard to do. Grisham trades the excitement and suspense of his earlier novels for a chilling realization of homeless life. It is my personal opinion that the trade was for the worse. I thought this novel could have been much better if there had been more of an emphasis on suspense and excitement rather than that of a homeless informant.
Rating: Summary: The Street Lawyer : Its not John Grisham's best Review: The first chapter of this book is wonderful, you think your in four a really good read, your not. The Street Lawyer goes down hill chapter by chapter. A really predicatable story with a boring ending.
Rating: Summary: If you love Grisham books STAY AWAY - What a waste of time Review: This is a morality play under the guise of a novel. Hey John, stop the preaching and get back to writing gripping, lawyer stories. The premise is ludicrous. The thought of someone walking away from a million dollar a year job to work as a "street lawyer" is admirable but not one founded in reality. Don't you think this guy could have done a whole lot more by keeping his job and giving say, half a million a year to the legal clinic which could fund TEN lawyers? The only redeeming part of the book was the end where they finally reach a settlement. It's well written and clever. I wish the rest of the book was like this.
Rating: Summary: Not the best, but still good Review: John Grsiham's novel The Street Lawyer was really good but it wasn't his best. The beginning was really exciting but then the story line died down. The parts describing the plight of the homeless were very intersting and informing. However, the case itself lacked excitement. I don't want to give it away, but the case this time did not have as much mystery and suspense as Gisham's earlier novels. Overall this book was definately worth reading but don't get your hopes.
Rating: Summary: Not up to par with his past publications Review: Personally I was disappointed with this book. It seems that Mr. Grisham was at a low point or his editors were really pushing for a new novel. It's a decent quick read, but not the edge of your seat read like his past novels.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not great. 1st half up, 2nd half down. Review: I read this book because it was a Grisham. I really enjoyed the 1st half but soon realized that there were few suprises left to be had. I think the book was most interesting, however, and felt that there is a learning experience there for everyone.
Rating: Summary: AWEFUL Review: I've read all of Grisham's books an loved each and every one of them. The Street Lawyer is awful. It does not contain any of the drama, humor or catchy diologue that all of his others have. John, stick to what you do best: writing exiting books. If I want to read about morality and concience, I'll read my Bible!
Rating: Summary: I thought that this book was great but very predictable Review: This is a classic Grisham novel, although I must say that I found it to be very predictable. I believe that the content was excellent and it had a wonderful plot, but you knew what was going to happen as soon as you got halfway through it.
Rating: Summary: Grisham provides an outstanding perspective of the homeless Review: John Grisham provides a perspective of the homeless that most have not experienced...it was a reality check of our values and lives...as usual Grisham provided several interesting characters such as, M Green and M Brock...one of his best!
Rating: Summary: A terrific page turner-a must read for Grisham fans!!! Review: John Grisham has created some wonderful characters, but Mordicei Green is the best yet! "The Street Lawyer" has a fast-paced plot and a great storyline. Grisham's delve into homelessness reminds us how insightful he can be. I read "The Testament" before this one and wasted my time. I hope Grisham remembers what has made him a bestseller.
