Summary: I am disappointed......could be better......
Review: I've read all of John Grisham's books, "The Street Lawyer" is not in the same caliber as ther other earlier books written by the author. The author could make it more exciting, but the story didn't get into any kind of climax at all. I liked John's idea of helping the homeless, but that is the only thing I liked about this book. As a fan of John Grisham's book, I expect better books from him.

Summary: A disappointment - even for a Grisham-fan.
Review: I've really enjoyed most of Grisham's novels, but this one was truly a disappointment. The subject matter is compelling, but the plot was lacking. If this were a movie, I would have walked out before it was half over due to boredom.

Summary: Could've been better
Review: As an ardent reader of legal fiction and a dedicated fan of Mr. Grisham's writing, I was very disappointed with this book. The main character, Michael Brock, was unbelievable and predictably swayed toward the PC social commentary depicted in this novel. Some characters were very well done (ie. Mordecai Greene and Ruby, the addict). In fact, I cared more for them than the story's protagonist. The first few chapters were wonderful, but the story declined from there as Brock began his downward spiral into the dregs of society. Also, the courtroom battle lacked any strong energy or interesting characters, as found in The Runaway Jury or The Rainmaker. Read this book in paperback form. It's not worth the hardcover price. Sorry, John.

Summary: WHERE'S THE MOVIE
Review: I HAVE THE AUDIO & COULD NOT STOP UNTIL IT WAS FINISHED,I'AM NOT A BIG FAN OF READING SO I'AM TRYING TO LISTEN,THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF THIS STORY LINE WAS JUST FANTASTIC ENJOYED EVERY SECOND AND HOPE TO SEE THE MOVIE IF THERE IS ONE,PARTS BROUGHT ME TO TEARS.

Summary: PREDICTABLE. PREDICTABLE. PREDICTABLE.
Review: Unispiring and, oh yeah, predictable. Save your money and get his earlier books if you haven't read them. Perhaps Mr. Grishom should actually work in a big law firm rather than taking pot shots at "big time greed." I'm sure he's churning out novel after novel because it's a "higher and noble calling." How much time and money has Mr. Grishom given to the homeless?

Summary: He Who Needs Less Is The Wealthiest Of Them All
Review: Grisham managed to help me understand, I mean, TRULY UNDERSTAND, that "he who needs less is truly the wealthiest of them all."

Yes, I have seen the homeless in cities ranging from El Cairo, to Bogota, to Manhattan, to San Francisco. And yes, I have offered a slice of pizza here and a buck or two there.

But now I see these unfortunate (or privileged?...?) people as potential professors, allies, and friends.

Mordecai Greene brings a smile to my face upon rememberance of his name; I even plan to find myself a place near Mission & 16th in San Francisco, where my tutors-to-be abound. In all honesty, I want to work in a "soup-kitchen."

No, I am not going to change my life because I read this book. No, I wont open a soup-kitchen myself. But, OH YES, I am going to share precious moments with the homeless, whenever and wherever I can, for I have learned their potential, their courage, and their VALUE.

Thanks John Grisham! Thanks Mordecai Greene!

Summary: Good, could have been better
Review: I learned a lot about the homeless from this book and enjoyed most of it. I have read many other reviews by people who hated it. They are surely entitled to but I think that most people hate to come face to face with some of the reality that JG throws at them, i.e., homelessness, rascism, abuse of power. I encourage JG to keep writing about it regardless. I will say though that I don't understand why Michael couldn't have given Ruby anything different to eat besides donuts and cookies!

Summary: It is a fantastic book, I've listened to it twice!!
Review: I really liked so much about this book. I was drawn into the main character's life and wanted to continue past the last page! Terrific characters, plot, flow, storyline, twists...

Summary: After a brief ruch with death he converts to a street lawyer
Review: This book was the first John Grisham book I ever read and to tell you the truth it's really good. The way he portrays his attorneies, legal people,Jugdes and all those other law people is briliant! I like the character Micheal Brock and how he told the police he was suing them for a ilegal search. It was so tactful! That's what I think,I am now converted to being a lawyer because of this one book.
