Summary: He does it Again!
Review: The Street Lawyer by John Grishman is a wonderfully entertaining novel. It's about a middle-aged lawyer who is about to become a partner in a huge law firm and start making the big bucks. Then while working he and his colleagues are in a meeting a homeless man takes them hostage. After the event Michael is a new man. He decides to quit his job to become a poverty lawyer for D.C.'s homeless people that have no one to look out for them. He discovers a dirty file in his firm that got a homeless family he knew killed. He decides to file a lawsuit for big money against his old firm. The only problem is that he stole the dirty file from the firm! They decide to press grand larceny charges, which can be up to ten years. Michael Brock has already turned down millions, spent the night in jail, was in a crash with drug dealer, and got a divorce. In The Street Lawyer, John Grisham once again defends the voiceless and powerless. The book is a huge hit everywhere. The book's plot is somewhat predictable, which is about the only complaint I have. The Street Lawyer takes you to a new and different place where most people have not gone. .Another reason the book is so popular is because of the intresting characters that have something to say about everything. Every bookstore, airport, and library carries some form of The Street Lawyer. Other good books by John Grisham are A Time to Kill, The Chamber, The Client, The Firm, The Partner, The Pelican Brief, The Rainmaker, The Runaway Jury, and The Testament. For me the book held my attention and it was very hard for me to put down, so I give it a four star rating. If you have any interest at all in the law or homelessness I would definitely recommend spending the six dollars to buy this book.

Summary: A great and suspenseful book about how we can find morals.
Review: Michael Brock is a character we all should look at closer. He has it all. A beautiful wife nice job and a great car. But then he realizes what the true call of law is. It is well written and suspenseful from beginning to end. I was extremely fulfilled with my purchase of this book.

Summary: What did you do with your day?
Review: While many criticize this book as being hypocritical (i.e the character, Michael Brock willing to walk away from millions, while the author rakes it in) I think it accomplishes its goal. This book makes me believe that a person can be satified in a career choice that brings reward in terms of personal satisfaction rather than money.

Though it wasn't perfect in terms of character development, I enjoyed this book, the plot, the language, the narrative voice. No, I'm probably not going to quit my job to become a social worker or homeless advocate. But will I, like Michael Brock, begin to see things around me I haven't seen before? Will I find time to help where before I didn't even have enough time for my own pursuits?

More than likely. Thanks for a thought provoking book, Mr. Grisham.

Summary: HORRIBLE BOOK
Review: From the time I opened up this book, it was predictable! I only had to read the first 50 pages to know what would happen in the end - I flipped to the end to make sure that I was correct. Not worth the seven bucks!! - Grisham - WHAT HAPPENED?????

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Oh boy, oh boy!
Review: A typical example of middle class angst posing as a crime novel. Worthy topic given a simplistic agit-prop treatment fit for the intellectually challenged. Cardboard, two-dimensional characters. Flimsy and utterly predictable plot which drags us slowly but surely towards a painfully obvious denouement. Not an original idea in sight. On this form Mr. Grisham could do us all a real favour and go back to his legal practice, contractual obligations towards the publisher notwithstanding.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Not a thriller; a trite political screed
Review: Grisham clearly is tired of writing thrillers and is trying to branch out into social activism. Just like his earlier book on capital punishment, this exploration of the politics of homelessness is a tiresome read.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Very lame, poor attempt by Grisham.
Review: This book reeks of something written merely to capitalize on Grisham's popularity in order to make money. Poor plot, poorly written. A waste of time and money.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Novel that made me a John Grisham fan
Review: This book kept me interested from page one to the very end. Very difficult to put down Great suspence and fill of action. You can't help but ask the question, are big law firms really like that?" Now its on to the Grisham novels I have not read. Too bad the author said this one will not be sold to Hollywood.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: VERY INTERESTING
Review: I liked the focus of this book. It makes you think of the homeless in a new way. It brings to light some of the problems the homeless face such as where to spend the night or get a meal. It really made me think.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: ONE OF HIS BEST YET!!!!!
Review: Grisham has outdone himself. This book kept me interested throughout every word. It started with a bang and the suspense and action never died. A true Grisham classic.
