Rating: Summary: About a lawyer helping the homeless Review: A lawyer name Michael who goes out and actually helps people that are less fortunate, (e.g. homeless). In the beginning, a homeless held him and some co-workers hostage. The S.W.A.T team had no choice but to take him out. Michael looked at the dead body and said to himself, "Why?" After that incident, he started to feel compassionate to homelesses on the street. He aslo works like 200 hrs/month, which averages to 50hrs/week. He is mainly devoted to his job and he totally neglects his wife. She is afraid that they might get into a divorce.
Rating: Summary: Brain turning, eye catching, unbelievable marvelous! Review: I could not put it down. I HATE to read, but for a Great Lititure class I have we had to read a book of our choice I gave this a try because of all of Mr. Grisham's movies I have seen. They were great and this book was wonderful. I got the book read in a week which is really good for me and I would have read it faster if I would have had the time. It was a wonderful book and i recomend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: A truly great novel Review: I am a Highschool Sophomore and a fan of Grisham. I thouroughly enjoyed this book and think it is a wake up call to all who are more fortunate than others. This novel just points out the fact that too many people who can give to the less fortunate dont for whatever reason and this needs to change. I think that The Street Lawyer is an excellent novel about real life.
Rating: Summary: Deffinately a page turner Review: The book started slower than other Grisham novels, then got even slower. The last 200 pages I read in a few hours straight. You never really knew what would happen next. It was not one of those "I know what's going to happen next" type of books. The book also had a great moral that every one of you morons who rated it under 4 start should think about. This book makes you WANT to do community service.
Rating: Summary: An fascinating topic, but a sedative conclusion. Review: The Street Lawyer is a well-written novel with an interesting topic. It revealed the unfairness we have toward our society's powerless. I'm a John Grisham fan, but I certainly don't think that "The Street Lawyer" is his best novel. The thing that I didn't like about this book was the conclusion. The book should've had an exciting litigation instead of a monetary compromise. Otherwise, it would've been an invigorating story.
Rating: Summary: Pure Excellence Review: This book, as all of his others, are excellent. He (John) makes the reader contemplate things never thought of before. A true master of his craft.
Rating: Summary: The Street Lawyer is Definitely a Sedative Review: I am definitely in agreement with my fellow Canadian critics - this book is definitely a Sedative! I am a Grisham fan and up until now have loved all his books but this one basically puts you asleep. It's not an exciting page turner but a valid issue regarding the homeless which could be debated on t.v. or on the Oprah show but as a novel - it lacks excitement!
Rating: Summary: excellent Review: a page turner. Every page filled with exciting details. Depicts the struggle of a man who tries to prioritize his and what he'll do to fullfill his obligations
Rating: Summary: A quick and entertaining read Review: Grisham's stories are always entertaining and easy to read. Great for reading in airports and airplanes. This one started out great, slacked a little and then sort of petered out. Interesting story never the less.
Rating: Summary: Absolutly breathtaking Review: In this book, a homeless man takes hostage nine people including Michael(the main charecter). They somehow find their way out. I will not go any further because that would give it away. Overall this is a great book to read. I would recomend this book for the older generation of readers because there are a lot of big words. If you are reading this review right now then I encourage you to put down the book you are currently reading and start reading the Street Lawyer.
