Rating: Summary: Not worth my time Review: Please Mr. Grisham, get back on track and write more books like The Firm. I could not finish reading The Street Lawyer and for me thats bad. It gives a lot of details on homeless people and how they live, which the all of society needs to know, but the story is very boring and drags on.It has an interesting main man that goes nowhere.
Rating: Summary: Grisham got bored in writing towards the end Review: The beginning was great, but it seemed like John Grisham got tired and bored of writing toward the second half of the book. Very disappointed at the ending. Enjoyed the Firm much more.
Rating: Summary: Good but not Great Review: The only other Grisham novel I've read is The Firm, which had more action and was more entertaining than this one. This book starts off with a very intense scene, but see very little action afterwards. The story goes on to detail how Michael's life changes and he helps the homeless, but the transition isn't quite convincing enough. Grisham is great with quick, active scenes, but when it comes to inner monologues or personal transitions, he could use some work. He describes the external events, but what exactly IS going on inside Michael's head? We rarely hear how he really feels about the incident at the beginning, about the corruption at his firm, of his estrangement from his wife, etc. It was almost a little too glib about really intense subject matter.
Rating: Summary: Politically Correctness + Boredom= The Street Lawyer Review: Dissapointment. The Street Lawyer began as a wild fire that grabbbed you in the beginnig chapters. After the suspense and action concluded by about page 25,the fire was all but extinguished. The Street Lawyer could have been told in only a few sentences. Money isnt everything. Respect the homeless. Yada,Yada, yada. This novel fooled me with its initial excitement, and resulted in a dull, slow waste of time. Dont get me wrong. Grisham is my favorite author. I find most of his novels intriguing. But this book was a departure from his usual courtroom suspense. And an unsuccessful one at that.
Rating: Summary: Grisham's best yet! Review: John Grisham strikes again with his most atmospheric and timely novel yet. The characters are original and the plot is like a ticking time bomb. The dialogue (a Grisham trademark) is absolutely seamless! His best story yet and his most heart-wrenching deserves the praise of all!
Rating: Summary: Started great then got boring Review: This definitely isn't Grisham's best work. The plot isn't that exciting, yet I still had to continue reading to find out what happened to the characters (they were very likeable and interesting). If you haven't read The Runaway Jury (Grisham) get that one instead.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as I'd hoped Review: Grisham's The Street Lawyer didn't appeal to me, perhaps because I read it right after The Pilot's Wife, The Triumph and the Glory, and Memoirs of a Geisha. It couldn't compare to those three gems, at least not in my mind.
Rating: Summary: Not his best, but still an enjoyable read Review: While not as involved as A Time to Kill or as entertaining as The Firm or The Client, TSL is still an enjoyable "quick" read. I thought this was much better than his latest, The Testament.
Rating: Summary: Money is important but its NOT everything Review: After a slight dissapointment with the Runaway Jury, I found the Street Lawyer full of emotions. This is so especially when an incident hit Mike and changed his entire life and its not impossible to happen to us. In life money is important but its not everything, there's more to it in life than just $$$$$. I am also touched by the author's comments that he had not worried too much about the homeless before writing this book but with his effort this book was published and I believe it has touched him emotionally one way or the other. Thumbs up to Grisham for delivering such an entertaining story.
Rating: Summary: A little bit anti-climactic Review: The beginning of the book was quite strong, but it dragged on to be a book about how we should all give to the homeless. I didn't like how he wrapped the ending up in a nice little package. I enjoy John Grisham books very much, but this one was a bit disappointing.
