Rating: Summary: Great story! Review: The book was incredible to say the least! I have only read 2 of Grisham's books; including this one. The other was "The Pelican Brief." I will have to say that "The Street Lawyer" is far better than the other book. Grisham spends a lot of time explaining the detail about the characers and their surroundings. This sometimes makes the book less interesting to read. However, for this story, the details were nescessary. Otherwise, the reader would not be able to fully understand the main character's feelings and actions. All in all, a great book! I would highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Makes ya think though Review: Previous Grisham novels may have been more captivating and exciting but, none made me ponder what I take for granted. I found it enjoyable throughout...obviously, the first 50 pages are more intense than the rest. I have to admit I preferred other books but, none makes me think more about sociey.....even weeks after finishing. I don't see how anyone could not finish the book in less than a few days. It has to be one of his shortest works.
Rating: Summary: Could it be any slower? Review: I am a fan of John Grishams books but this one? The first 50 pages were excellent then it just stops. I started reading it in November and still have 150 more pages to go - I took it with me to the ER to read where I spent 5 hours, I knew I had no other choice but to read this book and that's why I am on page 300 now. I don't see the purpose of describing each and every client in detail that walks into the main characters office. Honestly - it's a waste of time, but it will not stop me from reading and buying more of Grishams books.
Rating: Summary: good book, couldnt put it down Review: very exciting, easy to read, makes sense, makes you get a sense of why lawyers are the way they are.
Rating: Summary: The Street Lawyer Review: I only read this book because I knew that it would be a quick read, and it didn't disappoint there. The book is preachy, and just down right silly in some parts. It ends with a very mellow dramatic and anti climatic ending. Unless you need something to read and the air sickness bag just won't cut it, sure, go for it...otherwise, buy a magazine, or just move on -- don't read this...it seemed as though he had a great idea for a novel, but then ran into a deadline.
Rating: Summary: very disapointing Review: This started off with a lot of potential but then it really faltered and got boring. Really all the whole thing is about is the main character going to homeless shelter and helping the homeless. This book was painfully slow. It did have a fairly good plot but the book didn't follow the plot enough. This is the reason I gave the book only 2 stars. So if you don't like long dragging books don't read The Street Lawyer.
Rating: Summary: If You Read One Book This Year... Review: This was the first Grisham book I read, having been lent it by a friend, and since then I have be able to stop reading his work. The book shows a section of the law not usually covered in a fascinating and wonderful way. He is a master and by the end of the book, I wanted to be a public defendant. Brilliant
Rating: Summary: Not his best... Review: A good book, but not up to Grisham's standards. I like the main character's transformation, though. I just think Grisham could have done better.
Rating: Summary: dull Review: If you're a big fan of JG, take a pass on this. You won't be missing a thing.
Rating: Summary: The worst Grisham ever! Review: This book is so bad, you wonder if Grisham really wrote it, or he got someone else to write it for him. Ok, so its a great pitch for the homeless people. So it belongs in the sociology section. Certainly not the thrilling pageturner that you've come to expect from John Grisham - it doesnt even have a story. At the best of times, it is boring, for a John Grisham fan who wants to maintain his respect for the author - it is an absolute no-no!
