Rating: Summary: A good read - and no Relic Clone Review: I read this because I loved all the previous books by the authors. Given the blurb I was concerned that the book would be a copy of the story from the Relic, which it most definately was not. While the characters were slightly cartoonish, I was left guessing for quite awhile just what was going on and who was involved. The setting was great. If you are interested in the Anasazi or the Southwest, you should find it entertaining.
Rating: Summary: A very enjoyable thriller-don't expect Shakespeare! Review: I enjoyed reading this book a lot. I knew going in this wasn't going to be like reading Shakespeare! I was in the mood for a good, popcorn-movie type thriller with a cool plot, fun characters and a great setting, and that's what i got. The whole Anasazi culture is extremely interesting and i love the archaelogist-indiana jones looking for the lost city of gold search story. Overall, i would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun page turner!
Rating: Summary: Thunderhead is "Pure" Gold Review: The historical authenticity, the description of place and the pace of the tale kept me spellbound. Having spent time in the canyonlands, I loved the visual return to those vast, empty spaces. This is my first Preston/Child read but it certainly won't be my last!
Rating: Summary: THUNDERHEAD Review: THIS WAS MY FIRST INTRODUCTION TO D. PRESTON AND L. CHILD'S WRITING AND WHAT AN INTRODUCTION IT WAS! I COULDN'T PUT THE BOOK DOWN. NON-STOP ACTION AND AN INTERESTING BOOK TO BOOT! I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE WHO LIKES A BOOK TO MOVE, MOVE, MOVE! SINCE READING THIS BOOK, I HAVE ORDERED THREE MORE BOOKS BY THESE AUTHORS AND CAN'T WAIT TO READ THEM.
Rating: Summary: Child and Preston just keep getting better ! Review: These authors just get better and better with every book they write. This was the best so far by leaps and bounds. I could not get away from this book even when not actually reading it. I found myself thinking about it with anticipation. It is the first book in a long time that I have hated to see end. The combination of archaeology, mystery and adventure was irresistible. The speculation about the disappearance of the Anasazi was intriguing and made plausible by extremely good writing. Hope their next one is out very soon. Can hardly wait.
Rating: Summary: RANKING UP THERE WITH THE RELIC ET AL Review: This was such a terrific-and terrifying-novel. The suspense was outstanding, the gore was engrossing, and--and-- WHOEVER REVIEWED THIS AND SAID THIS WAS A KID'S TALE IS A COMPLETELY STONEBRAINED CUCKOO! THIS IS A DAMN GOOD BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Another Winner for Preston and Child! Review: Once again, these two authors did not dissapoint. I loved this book and could not put it down. I especially liked the fact that they used a character from "Relic" and "Reliquary". Smithback was and is my favorite character. I highly recommend this book! It actually made me look up web sites on the Anasazi people.
Rating: Summary: KIDS tale Review: I read the Readers Digest, Select Editions version of Thunderhead which is a mere 137 pages and I still found myself skipping pages out of boredom. This story is better suited for children.
Rating: Summary: An incredible adventure Review: I have read all of Preston and Childs books, and found this one to be right up there with Relic and Riptide. It is a fascinating journey that is not only suspenseful but educational as well. I found myself completely engrossed with the discovery of Quivera and the skinwalkers. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Not up to snuff Review: I didn't care for this one as much as his other books. The book was too long and I kept waiting for something to happen more suspensful as in his other books. But I will be anxiously waiting his next book to read.
