Summary: WILDLY ENTERTAINING! A PAGE-TURNING ADVENTURE!
Review: Finally! A thriller that lives up to the hype! "THUNDERHEAD", from the dueling PC's of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, delivers a chilling, nail-biting story in the tradition of the Indiana Jones series--with the danger factor turned up to full-tilt! Nora Kelly is an assistant professor at the Santa Fe Archeological Institute, feeling quite burned out with her academic life. Her heart's passion is to be out in the wilderness making great discoveries in the name of bettering humankind. Her father, an archeologist as well, but better known as a man with dreams bigger than facts could support, mysteriously disappeared sixteen years earlier while pursuing the mythical Quivira--an ancient lost city rumored to contain the world's wealth in gold. His disappearance leaves Nora and her younger brother Skip to fend for themselves. Nora has begun to make a name for herself, but her brother battles with his need to drink himself into oblivion. One night, Nora is drawn inexplicably to her family's now-abandoned and delapidated ranch, where she is terrifyingly and viciously attacked by what she at first thinks are wild dogs, but turn out to be somehow human. In her flight to escape her attackers, she happens coincidentally upon a letter, addressed to her deceased mother...from her father. In it, he hints at his discovery of his fabled Quivira, but the letter is more enigmatic than informative. Thus begins one of the most memorable adventure stories of the past decade, as Nora convinces her employer to fund an expedition to locate the lost city, and perhaps answer the questions that have plagued her regarding her father's disappearance. After a harrowing journey with a hastily but well-thought out team, Nora finally stumbles upon the legendary city...but the thrills only begin there. Haunting, chilling, but wildly entertaining...this was definitely a page-turning adventure! Plan on staying up till the wee hours to follow this awesome tale!

Summary: Excellent Read
Review: I've read all of Lincoln and Child's books and this one by far is the best. The non-stop action and page turning plots leads you through the book in a matter of hours. It was very hard to put down. The overall excitement of this archeological expedition actually makes you feel like you're a part of it. I recommend this to all who want a page turning thriller.

Summary: A disappointment compared to previous books
Review: I have loved these authors previous books, and since I also love the country of southeast Utah, I thought Thunderhead would be a perfect book for me. Instead, I found the story and characters to be superficial, and in some places started reading quickly to get to the "good parts." I'm sorry, but it comes nowhere near to Mount Dragon in being an absorbing story, and it misses the creepiness that Tony Hillerman is able to put in his mysteries. Compared to their previous books, this was "TV movie" quality. So guys, please, return to your roots for the next book.

Summary: Good but they can do better!
Review: This was another great read from this unbelievable duo but it wasn't up to the standard of Mount Dragon or Riptide. I felt a bit of disappointment with the ease with which the team found the city and wondered what could come next with so much of the book to go. Lincoln Preston are developing a formulaic strategy to their writing and I'm kind of hoping that their next one suprises me with a different set of characters i.e No heroine. Great read still!

Review: THE PRESTON/CHILD TEAM DID IT AGAIN! THEY'VE WRITTEN ANOTHER "CAN'T PUT DOWN" THRILLER. THIS TIME IT'S ABOUT NORA KELLY- A WOMEN SEARCHING FOR HER FATHER'S PAST. THIS IS A GREAT BOOK- ONE OF THE AUTHORS BEST. I ALSO RECOMMEND PRESTON/CHILD'S OTHER FOUR BOOKS (RELIC, MOUNT DRAGON, RELQUARY, RIPTIDE) I CAN'T WAIT TILL "THE ICE LIMIT' (BOOK NUMBER 6) COMES OUT! BUY "THUNDERHEAD" TODAY- THEN START A GREAT JOURNEY!

Summary: Thunderhead
Review: This is the most exciting book I have ever read. I love archaeology and the book draws you into the world of archaeology. The main character, Nora, is a very strong, intelligent and beautiful woman. It is refreshing to have the main character who possesses all these traits be a woman. I was so drawn into this book that it was difficult to go on with my life until I finished it. Read it and enjoy!

Summary: Their best effort to date!
Review: I enjoyed Relic and Reliquary and I absolutely loved Riptide. Then there's Thunderhead! What a fantastic story.

Preston & Child offer an interesting and reasonable explanation of what happened to the Anasazi and why no one has had much luck locating Quivira, the legendary lost city of gold! The characters were very well developed and the appearance of Bill Smithback (the reporter \ novelist from RELIC and RELIQUARY) was a pleasant surprise.

Keep up the good work, guys!

Summary: MASTERS OF A GOOD ADVENTURE
Review: These two guys contuine to do it time and again. DP and LC have written a powerful adventure story. It is worth the money. I would say this about the book, that it is one socko thriller and is nearly impossible to put down. I can't wait for their next book called THE ICE LIMIT this July.

Summary: Their best ever! ....well almost :)
Review: First I need to say that I've been an avid fan of D.P. and L.C. since the Relic. I own the first HC edition of all their books AND a paperback copy (or two)of each, for travel purposes. Although I've enjoyed all their books, I never thought they would write a book to rival the Relic, I was wrong. Thunderhead goes beyond expectations and delivers an intriguing and fast-paced punch. With another incredible combination of humor, detailed storyline and palpable characters you get pulled right in. I've read the Relic about twenty times, without exageration and Reliquary almost the same. When Thunderhead came out I was in a slump, so to speak, and it alone pulled me out (yeah, I know it sounds corny, but give me a break! I'm a bookaholic). Oh, by the way, if you really loved the Relic & Reliquary you are in for a real treat here.....

Summary: Thunderhead
Review: Thunderhead is a great book. It's very exciting and always keeps you on the edge of your seat! It is fairly accurate historically, and gives great facts about the Anasazi Indians, their artifacts, and their legends.
