Rating: Summary: A PLEASURE TO MY EARS! Review: I am a blind woman, that has difficulty staying with audiobooks. This book was so outstanding, that it was like having my eyes back again! My only hope is that Mr. Woods will again allow his work to be made audio. Thanks for the great time!
Rating: Summary: Woods right up there with Cather Review: I am a Broadcast Journalist in Portland, Maine. I am primarily a storyteller and frequently write stories about my childhood in Somersworth, New Hampshire on a web site devoted to that City. I also maintain a website where I tell Franco-American stories. My favorite writer until I saw the Made for TV movie "Chief's" in 1983 had been Willa Cather (Pioneer, My Antonia etc.) Now Stuart Woods joins her. My co-workers will tell you I can recite from memory the entire "Chief's" screenplay...almost. Patiently waiting for it to come out on DVD I delight in the paperback while waiting for that big day. I select chapters at random and enjoy the extra detail cut from the movie. I always wondered how Foxy Funderburke lived with no visible means of support. It's all in the book. Writer Stephen King, though a magnificent benevolent person, sometimes reveals his social awkwardness in his writing..(Kingdom Hospital is a good example)..Stuart woods reveals his social savvy. Billy Lee's proposal to his British War bride epitomizes what I mean. If all these characters lived for real...they would walk and talk as scripted by Woods.

Rating: Summary: Truly, a believable story Review: I am a fan of Stuart Woods. Chiefs is a wonderful book about real life people. The color and theme is super. I have never read such a book. It was homey as well as frightening in places...kept you on the edge at all times....
Rating: Summary: Great book depicting the "good ol' boys" of the old south Review: I am from a small town just 30 miles from the place in the book. I could really relate to the descriptions of the characters, locations, etc. This is a "keeper". I have never been able to find this book in hardcover. Do you have any suggestions on where I could locate one?
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I decided to try this book after reading the "Stone Barrington" series (New York Dead, Dirt, Dead in the Water, and Swimming to Catalina) and thought it was great. I can't wait to move on to the next in this series....I'm sure there is much more to come! It was fun to experience his earlier work after the more recent, which is excellent also. Stuart Woods has a great way of keeping the plot alive by keeping you guessing.
Rating: Summary: sort of a let down but still a great ending! Review: i didn't like the beginning but it does have agreat ending.
Rating: Summary: This book was Awesome! Review: I enjoyed reading this book several years ago & and still tingle when I remember the boy opening the chest, up in the attic and discovering the worn Sheriffs Star for the first time.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Read!! Review: I enjoyed this book tremendously. From the very beginning it held my interest. Not only is it a fascinating story, but it makes one think. My only regret was that the killer should have had to go to trial and face the humiliation of his secret being exposed. I strongly suggest to other readers to BUY THIS BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: video available Review: I finally found the video of this (from the mini series) at videoflicks.com.
