Summary: Excellent; his best work.
Review: I love Dennis Lehane's work and this is his best yet. It is gripping from start to finish with a subject that is at times heartbreaking and infuriating, but always interesting.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Stellar yet horrifying
Review: Recommended by my girlfriend ... yow! I was compelled to read this virtually in one sitting. The characters are vivid, yet quite believable. The background, child abduction and torture, is truly horrifying and ... well, any more would be spoilers. You will not have to disengage your brain for this one ... a treat!

Summary: Wow!
Review: It's been a long time since I had to put the rest of my life on hold until I finished a book. This was one I just couldn't put down. What really separates Lehane from the pack, is not his great plotting, but his sense of character and place and his wonderfully evocative writing syle. This book certainly transcends its genre and is well worth reading even for non-mystery/detective fans.

Summary: Excellent Thrill Ride of a book
Review: To the person who disliked the ending of this book and felt "betrayed" - Allow the author to paint believable characters by giving them opinions that may differ from yours. And even real people act inconsistently at times. It's not so surprising that a difficult issue has no clear answer and that when pressed to decide, a character decides differently than the reader. Differing characters themselves feel such a conflict in this book, as you alluded to.

More distressing than an author that sends his characters in what might seem like an inconsistent direction is a reader who reveals too much about the ending in an online review.

Anyone who already likes Lehane's work will love this book. To those unfamiliar, I suggest they start at the beginning of the series and read it all.

Summary: This was the first book of his that I've read & it was great
Review: There's something great about reading an exciting mystery novel on the beach. It was a quick read, two days, and suspenseful throughout. For some reason though I couldn't get the couple from Silk Stalkings out of my head when I was reading this book.

Summary: Extraordinary work!
Review: What can I say that hasn't already been said!? Once I started reading this book I could hardly put it down. The surprises just kept coming and there is no predictability to LeHane's stories. You just have to read it all the way through to find out how it ends. This is the third LeHane book I've read (also read "A Drink Before the War" and "Darkness, Take My Hand") and so far I liked this one the best. I can't wait to read "Sacred" and "Prayers for Rain." The endings of his books seem to universally have a "some good, some bad" theme....much like life itself. As far as detective stories go, LeHane's genius is unparalleled!

Summary: Best I've read this year!
Review: I haven't been this affected by a book in a long time. I got the ending I thought I wanted and then had to think about it alot. I couldn't stop reading once I started and when I got to the end I couldn't stop thinking about it. I finished at 2 a.m. and was so moved I couldn't sleep. I've told everyone in my office about this book and recommended it highly. Now I've got to read all of his works!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: HORRIFIC, TERRIFIC
Review: Like all of Dennis Lehane's work "Gone, Baby, Gone" is brilliantly plotted, shrewdly funny and the characters are intense, interesting and believable. I've read the whole series twice and loaned them to a friend for vacation reading. I live in Boston so if I don't get my books back, I will find Bubba Rugowski and have my friend "taken care of." Can't wait to read the next one.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wow, a deeply disturbing but incredible book.
Review: I am very impressed with Dennis Lehane. So far I've read 2 books and just ordered the rest. I couldn't put this book down until I was finished! Then I went and hugged my boys while they slept, thankful they were safe and loved.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A Gripping,Moving Story
Review: I have read all of Dennis Lehane's books. But this one was the best so far. He has a way of drawing you into the story and you feel you're right there with Angie, Patrick and company. You really never knew what was going to happen next and the ending was gut wrenching. I highly recommend this book and all his other books.
