Summary: It was so damn good, it lingered...
Review: I have read all those books from Mr. Lehane featuring Patrick Kenzie, Angie Genarro, and Bubba Rogowski. Still, I can't get enough of it. In this 4th installment, Patrick and Angie worked to hind a little-girl-lost. And what a shattering ending! It was so damn good, I still couldn't get it out of my mind. And great characters Mr. Lehane gave to us. How could you NOT falling in love with Bubba...despite his hobbies of killing people. You'll love Patrick's sarcasm and Angie is a fantastic woman. Dennis Lehane is surely my favorite thriller writer...forget Grisham. You ain't see nothing before reading Lehane's works.

Summary: Amazing ending, pretty good beginning and middle
Review: Lehane is one of those rare writers whose writing is neither consistently outstanding nor consistently middling -- there are long patches of cardboard characterization, comic book action, and too-familiar devices (does *every* thriller these days have to have a huge, sociopathic criminal sidekick?), but there are also moments of grace, beauty and insight to rival the best in the genre. In GONE, BABY, GONE, the good and the bad come in roughly equal measure until the very end, where Lehane makes a plotting decision that smacks you in the gut like a brick and stays with you long after you finish the book. Wish it had been better elsewhere, but the ending alone makes this one a keeper.

Summary: Oh yeah, baby, oh yeah!
Review: Oh Lehane is back! After reading the disappointing book "Sacred". I stayed up all night reading "Gone Baby Gone". This is book has the complex moral delimna that has so attracted me to his writings. Good grief what would I have done? I can't believe that people eat up Grisham and Cornwell when Lehane is out there. His books stay with me for days after I have read them. I find his work so affecting and appealing. I absolutely loved this book!

Summary: Wow!
Review: Whew! I couldn't help but race through GONE, BABY, GONE. The Kenzie/Gennaro series is tough, gritty and absolutely stunning...page turners like no other. It isn't often that characters are as memorable and real as Patrick and Angie...days after finishing the first four of his books, it will be some time before I will be able to release them from the corner of my mind. Lehane has proven himself a major player in the genre, no one else even comes close...I just wish I didn't have to wait so long for the next installment! P.S. Thank you Leah Loar-Mays for giving away the end of the book...when reviewing, please refrain from giving away important plot details. Some of us who read these reviews have yet to read the book!

Summary: Great read!
Review: This was the first book I've read by Dennis Lehane(convinced to give him a try by other customer reviews) and it was great! Not cutesy, gritty, tightly well-written, hated to have to put it down to continue my life. He joins my favorites list which includes Michael Connelly and Robert Crais. I'm now on a search for the rest of Lehane's books and can't wait to read them all, but maybe not Sacred right away since these reviews seem to count it as not-as-good as the rest of his works. Keep up the good work, Dennis!

Summary: Gone on Dennis Lehane
Review: Wow. That one word pretty much sums up this entire book. Dennis Lehane has a knack for the suspense thriller like no other author currently in print. In this fourth installment of the Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro series, I was under Lehane's spell from page one, and even once I had finished the book, the feel of the story stayed with me for a long time. I was really disappointed with Patrick's decision regarding little Amanda, and could not fault Angie for moving out. With all of his righteous vigilante justice for the cause of good vs. evil, how could Patrick have picked this particular time to 'do the right thing' according to the law, and send Amanda back to her poor excuse of a mother? Really bad timing, Patrick. I sure hope you get smarter in 'Prayers for Rain'!

Summary: You will regret missing this one!
Review: This was my third Lehane book, and he seems to just get better and better. He is simply a masterful writer. While I am a huge fan of authors such as Patterson, Baldacci, and Cornwell, none of them can touch Lehane for pure writing ability. And he doesn't lose anything when it comes to plot or characters either. This book is a rollercoaster of ups and downs and Lehane writes with an amazing insight that really makes you think twice. He is also excellent at injecting bits of humor throughout. My only problem with this book was not enough of Bubba - that guy kills me! This is definitely a "first tier" book from a "first tier" author (in response to an earlier review!)

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great Action, Twists; Characterization Lacks Something
Review: This author is pretty good for 2nd tier (1st tier being Waumbaugh, Hiaasen, Ellroy, Mosely, etc.). Plotting is great and unpredictable, and reading makes a "good ride". Characters, however, lack something - but, hey, Agatha Christie never had any good characters, either, but could you guess her plots?

Actually, I'm well beyond Agatha Christie, but I still like good characters. I also like a good plot. Unfortunately, you can't seem to get both at once except with a few authors.

This guy is worth reading for plotting. Hopefully, his character development will become better.

Summary: Don't Read This Book....
Review: This fourth book in this great series is Lehane's best one yet. The ending is very thought provoking and will stay with you for awhile. One very important piece of information is NOT to read this book if you haven't read the previous three. Information is disclosed that gives away the endings of some of the previous novels so they work best when read in order. Believe me when I say you'll want to read all of them.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: fast, but not necessarily easy, reading
Review: Gone Baby Gone has me wanting to read more of Lehane's work, but it also has me sad and angry. He is a masterful writer, but he doesn't paint pretty pictures with his abilities. A very vividly written and tough novel that points out how unfair and cold the world is today, told from the perspective of someone who still has a heart. It's a challenge, but it is rewarding, and thought-provoking. I'd recommend it to anyone.
