Rating: Summary: Unconvincing Review: This plot was shallow, far-fetched and there was not one character in the book to root for. But there were horrific murders with no motives, poor character development, and corny, (no, not corny, but stupid) dialogue.
Rating: Summary: An entertaining read Review: This book will certainly keep you interest and what's best is the bad guys are girls! And they are smart, too!
Rating: Summary: Pure Sandford Genius Review: What a wonderful ride John Sandford takes you on. He never fails to deliver. Taking a professional killer and pairing her with a more vicious wannabe kept the interest at a high level. I highly recommend this to anyone who has followed the series. And if this is the first of the Prey series that you have read, Certain Prey should cause you to go back and read the first nine. Outstanding.
Rating: Summary: He keeps getting better Review: Sandford cranks out the best straight-to-the-point stories around. The two ladies in this one are great contra-puntal characters given the backgrounds and current status of both. Sandford develops them while Lucas Davenport takes a back seat for once. Nice diversion. Good book. Keep 'em coming.
Rating: Summary: Certin Prey Review: I have read all of Sandford's books and I feel this was the most entertaining. I read it just two settings. I thought that this was his best characters and that you want them to go free. I wait for Sandford books to go Paperback.
Rating: Summary: Actually 3+ stars Review: This was a 3+ star book. The villians were different than the typical crime novel which made them more intreesting than usual. The book had a Pulp Fiction feeling. It as a fast read, good mindless entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely awesome! Review: I can't say enough about Sanford's latest effort..it is superbly written and the plot is totally engrossing, it never slows down! I think this book is clearly head and shoulders above the competition..I can't wait to read the next!
Rating: Summary: The "Prey" series... Review: Everytime I buy the next "Prey" book, I am wondering if this going to be the book where John Sandford starts to slide downhill. Each time I am just as enthralled. How does he do it?
Rating: Summary: Lightweight Prey--No Emotional "Punch" Review: As a lontime Prey series fan, I found this one to be mediocre. Basically the central premise is a lawyer joke--e.g. "How do you know when a lawyer's lying? Her lips are moving". I believe Sandford had this great idea for a contract killer character in Rinker, and tried to wrap a novel around that character. Mr. Sandford--you can't have neat, symmetrical TV miniseries morality and produce a the kind of novel that frightens and enthralls fans. The easy and ridiculously improbable ways Lucas finds clues in this one make it seem like Sandford was just wearily pugging in plot details. Plus, the demise of C.L. was just bizarre and meaningless. I'd bet there was a "darker" draft of this novel that got rejected--I for one, would like to read it.
Rating: Summary: A waste of money Review: The author could at least try and make the characters believable. Come on....the hero meets the perp ONCE and is able to make a connection?
