Summary: Good - but what happened on p 249, - 2 guys on the couch?
Review: Gosh, I hate that. Does anyone want to hire me to be a proof reader? Or didn't I understand that part. One guy in the chair, one on the couch, couch guy snoring. Couch guy gets up, gets shot and still is on the couch snoring. Whoa! Of course, I always catch the boom or mike in the shot in movies too. Interesting story. I hope to read more, but please, let's proofread!

Summary: The best of all Sandford books.
Review: Davenport meets his match as he squares off against a team of killers. He knows who they are and is just seconds behind them. I have read all of the Prey books and this is by far the best.

Summary: This book made reading cognint again
Review: Noir at it's best! I couldn't get enough of the non-stop action, dangerous trysts, and witty banter that this book offers. Like most stuff released by this author, I found reading this book to be very much like achieving Zentopian enlightenment. Let's hope this Staford person has a few dozen more books left in them! Grazti!

Summary: 2 C's make 4 1 deadly thriller
Review: Clara and Carmel - what a team! While "Winter Prey" was my favorite Sanford, this book comes in a close second. The story was fast-paced and the antagonists, especially Carmel, diabolical. Carmel redefines "cold-hearted lawyer." I finished this one in 2 sittings. Way to go, John!

Summary: Just as great as the rest of the "Prey" series
Review: I waited very long for this next book to come out and it didn't dissapoint me..if you are a fan of Lucas Davenport, you'll like this book. If you've never read a Davenport storyline before...DO NOT READ THIS UNTIL YOU READ THE REST OF THE BOOKS IN THE SERIES!! You have to know the background. I think I actually liked the woman hit "girl" in this book...I'm glad the book ended the way it did (won't give it away!)..only thing that upset me was no real love interest for Lucas (he needs a woman) ...and only one mention of Del....but, as long as Sanford keeps writing Prey novels, I can wait....

Summary: As magnificent as all the others- wonderfully consistent
Review: John Sandford is one of the best series writers around. He can take Lucas Davenport and develop him over the course of eleven books without missing a beat. I never get tired of reading John Sandford. All his books you could finish in an afternoon and never feel tired. Mr. Sandford's books were what put me back into the reading world and I would like to thank him for that gift. Now I read at least thirty plus books a year even with my busy practice.

Summary: Not Vintage Sandford
Review: This story was thin and not as appealing or enjoyable as his other books of the Prey series. I truly enjoy the Lucas Davenport character and the shenanigans he gets himself in and out of, but this story line was so thin, weak and non-appetizing, I couldn't wait to finish to put it away. Very disappointing for a true John Sandford fan!

Summary: A Worthy Successor!
Review: John Sandford has a definite gift with his "Prey" series. I am still searching for the first two volumes; I am that much of a fan. I was disappointed in the "Night Crew" aberration which was just not up to his usual standards. That said, while I loved "Certain Prey," and gave it the highest rating, mainly because of Sandford's ability to create intriguing characters, I found this volume a bit "thin" in plot, and somewhat lacking in making Lucas Davenport the focal point. I almost felt at times he was a background charac ter rather than the "lead." Nevertheless, I read the book in two sittings, it was so good. I cannnot see any way a "Prey" book could ever get less than five stars. Sandford has created a new standard for thrillers, which has placed him in the top rank of contemporary suspense writers,

Summary: Could not put it down!
Review: I think this was one of the best out of the Prey series. The characters were vivid and wonderfully written. Lucas, it seemed, met his match with Clara. I was pleased with the ending and can't wait for the next one!

Summary: A lighter touch makes for more energy in this novel
Review: Certain Prey is a fine book, and one that I would recommend to anyone. Lucas Davenport and his team's frantic chase to find a killer is as entertaining as any of Mr. Sandford's previous novels and more fun. As an avid reader of the "Prey" series, I was especially interested in certain styling changes offered by Mr. Sandford. The ending and the unknown police leak offer options for future novels, where normally the "Prey" novels do not leave room for future connections beyond romantic interests or jail breaks. While there was the normal flood of dead bodies, Sandford omitted the normal secondary plot line he uses as a complement to or comic relief from the primary story (remember the air conditioning killing in "Night Prey"?). He offers far more information on the killers, does not draw Lucas into a romantic relationship, does not send Lucas to Sister Krueger for brainstorming, has Lucas in a non-hostile stance with federal agencies, and ends the book on a less than somber note.

The changes make for a story that is lighter without losing any of the thrill or danger. This is a welcome addition to the Prey series, and shows Sandford seeking a new direction for his main character. Now if only he did not beat up those expensive clothes so much...

N.B. Appropos of earlier comments, I too hope that future TV or movie offerings on the "Prey" novels have something much closer to the novels than the recent TV movie.
