Rating: Summary: Not his best but still very good. Review: The Midnight club is an ealier book. It pre dates the Alex Cross books, which are soome of his better ones.Midnight club is probaly James Pattersons Slowest Book, but for some reason it uis surprisingly satisfying, somewhat suspenceful and well written. It isn't as violent as Roses Are Red, and it isn't as haunting or twisted as Hide & Seek. But it is still satisfying to me at least.
Rating: Summary: Can I give it 0 stars? Review: This has got the be one of the worst JP books that I have read. I am starting to think that if the book doesn't have Alex Cross in it, then it is going to be boring, which this one was.. The offering from JP has the main characters, a cop 'Stef', in a wheelchair. He was put there trying to kill a major mafia/drug lord that he had been chasing for 2 years and unfortunately for him, the guy got to him first. Fast forward 2 years later, the cop enlists the help of a young policewomen to track down a killer who is going around killing memebers of the 'Midnight Club' a club whose members include heavy players from around the world and whose head-honcho was the drug lord that Stef has spent a large part of his life trying to put away. From the beginning, I thought that this had shards of Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme, but luckily, Stef is nowhere near as annoying but still the story is SOOOO SLOOOOOOWWWWWW that it really doesn't go anywhere at all and I dumped it 3/4 of the way through as I really didn't care if Stef and his girl lived, died, figured it out or not, all I knew is that I wanted to get rid of 'The Midnight Club' asap. I ama huge fan of JP's work and I am constantly amazed on how well he can write esp with so many different chacters, he doesn't rely on one main character to write about, but maybe he should stick to it, as 'The Midnight Club' is probably the worst JP book I have read.... Disappointing.
Rating: Summary: Slow book with horrible ending Review: The Midnight Club is a book that just did not thrill me for some reason. James Patterson is a great author and I have enjoyed pretty much all of the books that I have read of him, but this book just wasn't Patterson at his best. The whole book moved at a snail's pace that was hardly suspenseful at all. There are a few twists and turns in the book just to keep you reading but overall it was a mediocre at best book. John Stevanovitch the lead character is in a wheel chair, which is a pretty good idea. But I just didn't like how Patterson wrote about it and explained it to the reader. The love story in the book is needless and predictable. And now to the ending. This is one of the dumbest endings I have ever read and especially for James Patterson, which he is known for horrible endings. I thought it was rushed, anti-climatic, and very disappointing. If you have read enough books and watched enough movies, then you will keep waiting for more in this book thinking that "that" is not how it could end. I have actually changed my rating from 3 to 2 stars in the midst of writing this review now that I have gotten my thoughts out. If you like James Patterson, then this book is very disappointing. If you have never read him then don't start with this book because you might never try him again. But he really is a good author. The Midnight Club is another classic non-Alex Cross book from Patterson and is definitely not recommended from me. 2 Stars
Rating: Summary: A Slow Book Review: This is my second non Alex Cross book that I've read and I'm slowly beginning to feel as if I shouldn't waste anymore time on a book that doesn't feature this character. With that said, I found this book VERY slow moving. The plot moved along very slowly but I kept reading it hoping that it would improve. I must say that I absolutely LOVED the ending which at least made me want to give it 3 stars but I'm sure that lots of people will be so bored that they won't stick around that long!
Rating: Summary: Best Pick of 1999 Review: I'd add a sixth star in order to place this book in the proper rating field. I heard it on audio and it kept me nearly breathless through every chapter. Bet I heard at least 100 audio books in "99 - including mystery best sellers - and I must admit that this was the best of the best!
Rating: Summary: I gave up! Review: I read about 65 or 70 pages of this book and I just couldn't stand anymore. It was too boring. I did not care for any of these characters. Very slow-moving story. Don't bother!
Rating: Summary: Its killing me to try to finish this book Review: I love Patterson, but this is the worst of his books. I'm having a very difficult time getting through this one. WAY too long and drawn out. I don't care enough about the characters one way or the other.
Rating: Summary: Spectacular read! Review: I saw James Patterson at a symposium sponsored by the Broward County (Fla.) Public Library Foundation on 3/4/00. He shared a panel with Michael Connelly entitled "Beyond Crime and Punishment." I started "Midnight Club" after the panel and finished it the next day. It gave new meaning to the term page turner. Great story and characters made me willingly suspend my disbelief.
Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: I thought this was one of his better books not involving Alex Cross. It had an interesting storyline with several good twists. I would recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as the Alex Cross Novels Review: I thought this book was slow. I kept hoping it would pick up, but it didn't really. At some points I thought it was just plain silly, for example when the detective in the wheel chair went up to St. Germain in the limo and bawled him out. Also, it was so obvious that the girlfriends son was going to get kidnapped. The ex-husband takes him for a while to get him away from all the dangerous stuff, and then when the dangerous stuff really get going the son is back home walking to school. Da dee Da......
