Summary: summary about dragged under is not a scene in the story??!
Review: There is no thrill in the story at all. The murderer is so stupid he falls into traps every time. First of all, his name is revealed at the beginning, which takes away all the fun, and then he is such a fool that everybody would believe he himself would get murdered easily instead. Then, the back summary is a disguise again. The passage about Melis's about to be pulled under( seems... only seems... so exciting) is nowhere to be found in the story. Is there nothing in the story capturing enough that the author has to make up a new passage to grab readers' attention?

Summary: Fatal Tide
Review: This book isn't as bad as some reviewers have said. It isn't excepetional, but it isn't bad either. If anything, wait for it to come out on paperback, don't spend the money on hardcover. The only problem I had with this book was that it was too similar to Iris Johanson's "No One To Trust". The abuse situations were almost identical. A few times I had to stop and actually think about which book I was reading because I was starting to get the plots mixed up because they were just too similar. If you haven't read "No One To Trust", then it is a good book to sit down and relax with.

Summary: Excellent
Review: This book was outstanding. I've read many books, and I'm just taken by all the books that Iris ahs written. This lady knows what women want to read and basically gives it to them in her books. I will be seeing more by this author.

Summary: Simply Awful
Review: This has got to be THE most horrible read I've ever suffered through. Flat characters, those damned dolphins ("gotta check the dolphins", "gotta look in on the dolphins", "how are the dolphins", "I hope the dolphins are alive"), no surprises. Sheesh. The writing style is one where you expect a character to jump off every other page, look you in the eye and say, "OK, you got that?". Really, I devour books and find good qualities in most. This one was torture.

Summary: More please
Review: This is such a good read. The story flows, the characters are easy to identify with, they stay true to their original character and even though I don't really feel that this is one of those books you can not put down, it is definately enjoyable.

Summary: Silliest Book of the Year
Review: Unbelievable, and unlovable, main character. Although the author tried to develop Milis as a super woman, instead she delivered a whiny, unbelievable and unlovable brat. The plot itself is far fetched, but when combined with a main character whom you hope will come to an unpleasant end, there isn't much left to keep you interested. Don't waste your time on this poorly constructed tale.

Summary: Absolutely excellent!
Review: Well, Fatal tide is certainly a page turner! I have read a couple of other Iris Johansen novels and must admist that I think this is the best one I have read! .... this lady knows her stuff!

Iris Johansen (IJ) manages to fill her story's with both factual and interesting themes: this one involves dolphins (and the training of), and a lost city ........ and let me tell you it is one heck of a story!

Yes, IJ does infuse this story with a leading lady who has had a very abusive past (we're talking child abuse here) .... in fact, one would think that the kind of abuse this women had been through would be repugnant as a story-line for a fiction novel BUT IJ puts an angle on the abuse that puts you in the "shoes" of the leading lady enabling the reader to understand the psyche of an abused child and the effect of the abuse in adulthood .... the 'honest and emotional' dialogue is perfect for the setting and the story is exceptional.

I didn't actually choose this book myself, a friend lent it to me, and I have to say that this was an excellent story, with the best characterisation and plot that I have read in a long, long time: I started this book at 6pm and had finished by 2am .... and I have a baby!

If you are looking for a page turner, that is interesting and adventurous, with some sex/romance chucked in sporadically then this is definitely worth your while!

Good reading to you, Kristina

Summary: One of Iris's Worst
Review: Wow. I like most of Iris's novels - very rote though they may be. They usually have some semblance of a thriller plot, and characters that are interesting. Not this novel. She basically vomited up everything she has written in past books. But, no, this is not a "Best Of." It is a worst of. If I heard the main character whine one more time about where she was rescued from, *I* was going to vomit. Melis Nemid (the main heroine) is boring, a whiner, and needs strong love from the hero of the story. Get a life lady - you are not an example for females everywhere. The hero is cookie cutter Iris - ex-SEAL, rich, handsome, and rough. Big surprise. The most interesting character is a secondary character: Nicholas Lyons, the gentleman that helps the hero.

Save yourself the stomach pain - skip this book!
