Summary: A Great Book
Review: John Grisham does it again. Having read all of his novels, I can honestly say that this book was just as good as the rest. It was definetly a page turner. I didn't stop reading until I was done. It was nice to read a legal thriller that did not center entirely around the court room.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I Recommend it
Review: This is the first Grisham book I've read. I picked it up out of curiosity after seeing a review in the newspaper.

A good, easy read with a point to it. I enjoyed the descriptive material. Enjoyed the legal characters.

Think about the ending.

Summary: John Grishams best book yet
Review: I started this book on a Friday morning and finished it on Saturday morning even after going to work. This was a fantastic book and I hated to see it end. I consider this book Grishams very best.

Summary: GRISHAM DOES IT AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: GRISHAM IS ABSOULUTELY THE BEST AUTHOR ON THE PLANET. I RECIEVED THIS BOOK ON 2/4/99 AND FINISHED THIS BOOK ON 2/5/99. YOU JUST CANT PUT HIS BOOKS DOWN. I REALLY LIKE THE FACT THAT IT WASNT ALL LAWYER STUFF. IT JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THERE IS HOPE FOR EVERYONE.(WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE 6 SIBLINGS IN THE BOOK OF COURSE.) THIS IS A DEFINTE MUST READ. HOWEVER I MUST SAY THAT I STILL CANT PUT THIS ABOVE THE PARTNER AS HIS ABSOLUTE BEST. PLEASE JOHN IF YOU READ THIS WRITE A SEQUEL TO THAT ONE I STILL LIE AWAKE AT NIGHT THINKING ABOUT THE ENDING. I REREAD THAT ONE AT LEAST 4 TIMES HOPING IT WOULD CHANGE . IT JUST KILLED ME.

Summary: Easy to read, not to technical and a delicious travelog
Review: Of course this doesn't happen in the real world, but what if it did! What a wonderful "testament" to the goodness of the human spirit as well as an accurate portrayal of how money corrupts. This is not a lawyer novel! But rather a great story! I am glad to see Mr Grisham tell a story that is more than courtroom drama and evil. There is a tender story here. I hope that someday he feels that he can write a sequel so that we can find out what good can come from Billions of dollars in the "write" hands. Maybe Mr. Grisham should begin an association with Bill Gates. Thanks Mr. Grisham.

Summary: Yes Virginia, there really are good lawyers
Review: I had serious hopes for this new Grisham. The beginning was quite good, obnoxious billionaire with Jerry Springeresque family, dies with secret will to be unfolded. Total burn out rehab veteran is sent on a wild goose chase to anaconda country after the mystery heiress. Can't go wrong? Oh yes it can. The pages about the ghastly family members seeking the inheritance are hysterically and frighteningly funny (Grisham obviously knows that people turn into werewolves when they are mentioned in a will) I wish he had centered more on that, the rehabbed lawyer has moments of interest but bottoms out and the heiress is totally unrealistic. John Grisham simply does not and never will get women's characters. Too bad. It started out well. Time for another Robert Tanenbaum!

Summary: Hey This is a great book!
Review: To all you simple minded bastards out there who couldn't stand books about Brazil, Southern lawyers or conversions to God, Get A Life. I didn't find any misspellings and I didn't think it was trash. Read the book, let your mind go, have fun. Grisham only wants to take you on an adventure to place you will never go. Why isn't anyone mentioning how amazing the Patanal Region sounds? If you want to read classics read classics. Grisham offers this book to us hoping we enjoy. There is no reason for him to feel it's bad. One other thing, don't come onto Amazon.com to write sux or hated it. You suck for writing that. This is a great book tht I loved reading and I hope others won't attack John Grisham for writing this book.

Summary: OK NOT GREAT!
Review: All of John Grisham's books are worth reading. Some are better then others. The Testament was good but not a page turner.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: A Travelogue for Brazil with boring characters
Review: How much payback did John Grisham receive from travel agencies in Brazil to write this trite, uninteresting, shallow book? A search for what could have been an interesting heir to a fortune devotes itself to the description of a "Crash & Burn" Malpractice attorney. Who cares? I ended up hot and itchy from weather and insect descriptions. A good Calamine Lotion advertisement.

Summary: Why am I reading a Movie???
Review: Why is it that all new books by popular authors are written as screenplays? While the format is not of a screen play, this new books is bound to show up on the screen. I am really tired of my favorite authors writing simply for the money and a possible movie deal. While I enjoyed the book, the story was too far fetched to get into. The heirs are taken from the movie "Greedy", and the idea that Phelens leaves all his money to some unknown illegit daughter in brazil, is just too much! This book was written for one reason - To make a movie out of it. Grisham is not the only guilty one here, Clancy, King & Barker have fallen into the same rut with their new books too.
