Summary: A good rebound
Review: An avid Grisham fan, I was totally disappointed by the Street Lawyer, which I found so bad that I put it down after 100 pages. So it was nice to see that he's come back somewhat with the Testament. No, it's not great literature, deep or meaningful; but if you want a good story, you'll probably like this book.

Summary: This book was the worst he has written.
Review: I have read all the Grisham books and this one was the worst. The story is long and drawn out and the ending was so predictable. I am a well read person who has enjoyed all of the Grisham novels, but this one was very dissappointing. There was not enough action and intrigue to keep me interested. I had to force myself to finish it, which I have never had to do with his books. I am very glad that I didn't buy the book, just borrowed it from the library.

Summary: Finnaly a Grishamn where caracters have depth
Review: I was a bit put off by some of the reviews at first but bought the book anyway. I am really glad I did.

This is a wonderful book, one of Grisham best. The storyline is great and the caracters wonderfuly describe and they have depth and motivations you understand. Gladly their motivation is not greed for a change.

Summary: Grisham's best book yet, a welcome surprise
Review: This is Grisham's best book to date, one that is apparently not being well received by many of his readers because he breaks many of his own conventions. This book isn't a good ol' legal thriller like "The Pelican Brief," or a gritty, Southern Gothic story like "A Time to Kill." Instead, Grisham depends far less on purely legal themes to carry his story and takes on weighter matters: Spirituality, greed, enthocentricism, ecology and addiction. The results are sometimes a little awkward, and his pure writing skills still aren't the best around. But this is an admirable work, and equally entertaining. I particularly like his treatment of Christianity and ecology, made without a trace of cynicism; he actually succeeds in convincing us that they are compatible subjects.

Summary: Not a Grisham classic
Review: While I really enjoyed this book, I would have enjoyed it slightly more if it had been writen by a different author. It was a wonderfull book about values in life and money, but it lacked the legal suspense that I read John Grisham for. I had expected more of a legal aspect. I also was surprised that the will was revealed that early in the plot, because I had expected that it would have been concealed until later, to add suspense. Still, it was worth it, and I didn't put it down until I finished it

Summary: Very familiar
Review: Typical Grisham, ok read, but dull ending. Found a better book in the bargin bin by Tom Topar called "The Codicil", which is suprisingly similar. In fact, almost too similar, I wonder if Grisham read the same book before writing The Testament??? If I were Topar, I would look into it.

Summary: Hooray for Grisham!
Review: The Testament is not another formula legal thriller. Instead, it is an updated Pilgrim's Progress. The deep questions of our souls that we try to silence with 90's style diversions, are openly confronted and explored in Grisham's latest. Some readers may be uncomfortable with this. To those who have done the same there will be instant recognition and a feeling of camaraderie with an author who not only understands but also can communicate these inner workings. Hooray for Grisham - very few of us are brave enough to voice our inner workings.

Summary: I LOVE ALL JOHN GRISHAM BOOKS BUT THIS ONE
Review: JOHN GRISHAM BOOKS ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. I HAVE READ EACH AND EVERYONE. I HAVE FOUND HIS LAST TWO BOOKS, THIS ONE ESPECIALLY TO BE FLUFF. WHERE IS THE USUAL GRISHAM SUSPENSE AND PLOT TURNS? I KNOW I'LL GO ON READING HIS NOVELS BUT I WANT MORE ACTION, BETTER CHARACTERS AND FOR GODSAKE MUCH BETTER ENDINGS.

Summary: Pure Schlock
Review: Grisham is usually entertaining, but this was just disappointing

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Miserable Sop to Fundamentalist Christians.
Review: Even though, it's not great writing, the plots are usually interesting and entertaining. But this was an astonishingly, embarassingly transparent effort to sell books to logic-impaired Christians. I'm sure it will sell books, but Grisham should be ashamed of himself. YUCK.
