Rating: Summary: So what? Review: Flat characters, no thrill, and a story you could tell in a minute. Boring.
Rating: Summary: Loved It Review: The Testament was very well done. The story was good, and the characters were even better. I especially loved the beginning when Troy is writing. it does slowdown a little bit after about half way through. Though just about everyone else would disagree with me, I love that ending.
Rating: Summary: The Testament Review: I needed something quickly to read for a trip and decided on The Testament by John Grisham. I had read some of his other works (ie. A Time To Kill) and had been fascinated with his style of storytelling. Even on distasteful topics Grisham has a way of really getting the reader involved as evidenced in A Time To Kill. The Testament is no exception. Troy Phelan really had a unique way of sending a message to his vulture-like relatives. It was if I were there watching the entire scene. I was as shocked as everyone in the room. I believe that I even gasped! Grisham's descriptive ability is astounding! It only gets better. The troubled Nate is sent on his mission and endures the seemingly impossible to accomplish the same. I should have realized it wouldn't turn out the way it seemed it would. It was a great, if unexpected, ending though. Who said stories should have happy endings and what would that have been exactly? Maybe it was a happy ending after all. It was sad in parts, evil in parts, and very interesting always. I enjoyed The Testament and am eagerly awaiting his next book's arrival.
Rating: Summary: A good book with a disappointing ending Review: Ive been waiting for the paperback of Grisham's The Testament for quite some time. Adding to this suspense was the plot of the story which was well written. Whats disappointing was the ending of the book. As if Rachel just passed away like that without being reunited with the real world. I was hoping for a reunion of sorts that will change Nate for good... but Grisham's not cheesy enough to do that! Great book thou did not meet my expectations to be rated 5 star...a 4 star will do!
Rating: Summary: Grisham and Beyond Review: "The Testament" has all the elements Grisham fans will remember from his earlier books--legal finagling, large sums of money, a likable hero under a lot of pressure. But the plot gets us out of the USA to Brazil and involves us in some fascinating eco-sleuthing. Gripping and fun from beginning to end. I like this new Grisham, the "world citizen," even better than I like the old one.
Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: Enjoyed this one very much in fact so much, I read it in one day. "The Testament" oozes with greedy relatives you hope get what's coming to them -- and I don't mean money.Nate O'Riley's jungle adventure is unforgetable.
Rating: Summary: Great Read! Review: This was a great read! Couldn't put it down. I read it on my lunch hour, at stop lights, in waiting rooms. I was truly sorry when I reached the last page. Nate was an interesting, likeable, character. Can't wait to read Grisham's next book
Rating: Summary: A major disapointment Review: This book was a thorough waste of time. Not only did it not have the pull of Grisham's other books, it appears that the author simply bored of writing it and hastily procurred a lame ending. Spend your money elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Darn Good Review: Since the last few Grisham books have been a disappointment to me, I am glad to report this one is pretty darn good. Not quite as exciting as Runaway Jury, but an entertaining adventure into the heart of Brazil and some nice characters - very human. The reflective and spiritual references were great!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Reading Review: This book like most of Grisham's work is tightly wound about law. This book is very hard to put down. It grabs you from the beginning and keeps your attention throughout. The only reason I didn't score this book with 5 stars is because the ending isn't as good as I had hoped. It finished well, don't get me wrong. I was just hoping it would end differently. You'll see what I'm saying upon reading it.
