Summary: Starts with a bang but well........
Review: One of the reviews on the cover of the book says something like the best first 50 pages ever written...well this statement certainly holds good..the book starts with a bang and you rush through the first 50 pages but then what happens..we are taken through a tour of brazilian wetlands and the book alternates between america and the adventure in the brazilian wetlands :-( to find the missing heir.Skip the portions of the supposedly brazilian adventure and read through the rest of the book...so out of the 500 odd pages the 250 pages are pure grisham stuff thats why 2 stars and the rest a big yawn...hoping that the next book of grisham 'The Brethren' will be a good read.

Summary: Won Me Over on 2nd Reading
Review: I have to admit that The Testament wasn't one of my Grisham favorites after the first reading, but for some reason I picked it up again recently in anticipation of The Brethren and couldn't put it down this time. Nate Riley is such a deeply flawed character that I suppose it took some getting used to his hidden charms. On reconsideration, Grisham took a risk with this story -- by writing about a despicably weak man who'd ruined his life with his addictions -- and won by writing a riveting tale of redemption. I highly recommend it!

Summary: I keep falling into the Grisham trap
Review: Every time I fall into the Grisham trap. I loved his first three books. I had my doubts about The Client and was really disappointed with The Chamber. It never really got better after that. Good beginnings of the books, but the endings have been a real anti climax ever since The Chamber. The Testament is better than the previous two or three books of which I do not even remember the titles. I guess it isn't a coincidence that his books haven't been made into movies after the first four books. Or were the movies even worse than the book. I do not think I will buy the bretheren.

Summary: Not one of Grishams best by far !
Review: A friend lent me the book to read and though I have only read a few of Grishams novels,(mostly earlier ones)I was mildly disappointed in THE TESTAMENT. I did not care for the story line and it seemed to far fetched to believe. I guess once in a while,a dud comes out and this is the ONE!

Review: ...namely, "a woman pursued by enemies and friends alike" holding "a stunning surprise of her own." This text was on the back cover of the book and I thought it would be more suspensful than it was. No enemies in pursuit, no stunning surprise. Yawn.Nate O'Riley was likeable and the descriptions of Brazil were colorful. This is good beach or airplane reading.

Summary: Great read!
Review: What are people looking for in a book anyway? I've read some of the bad reviews about this book, and I can't believe it! The Testament gave me everything I look for in a book, i.e. suspense, adventure, and a great story. It's one of the few books published lately that makes me want to pick it up and see what happens next. I wish more authors were as easy and fun to read. I've read most of Grisham's books, and this one rates along with The Firm and The Rainmaker. I hope he continues to write more books like this one.

Summary: Is John Grisham born again - or still searching?
Review: Amazed to find so much of the Christian gospel in a secular publication; either John Grisham has decided his writing is the best medium to transmit the gospel or he's searching big-time! I loved Grisham novels anyway, but this was the icing on the cake for me!

Summary: Another Great Book! Hard to put this one down.
Review: I've read all of John Grisham's books, and this one is another great book. There are a few slow spots, but they are very few. For the most part, it is exciting, entertaining, and even quite humorous. The characters are entertaining, and the stories of the Pantanal area of Brazil are very interesting. I came across a documentary on the Pantanal a couple of days after I finished the book, and it turns out that Grisham's descriptions are actually very accurate. I have read that he has visited the region, so the material comes first hand. Best of all, there is finally a somewhat happy ending to the story, which is different from most of Grisham's books. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and would recommend it to all.

Summary: Outstanding, Grisham's best effort.
Review: The only objection I have with The Testament is that it came to an end. From the very 1st chapter and paragraph John Grisham gets the reader immediately involved. He has you immediately wondering what the intentions of Troy Phelan might be? A man of tremendous wealth and a huge dislike for his children. The intensity of the book grows with each page. Difficult to put down. Just an outstanding novel, a true 5 stars.
