Summary: He did it to me again
Review: After reading "The Chamber" I vowed to stay away from Grisham. Don't get me wrong, I think he is a brilliant writer, I just don't think he knows how to end a story. A friend convinced me to read "The Testament", and once I start talking to my friend again, I'll tell him what I am going to tell you. The book gets your attention immediately and in typical Grisham fashion holds your interest. Unfortunately, as he has done countless times before, Mr. Grisham chooses to end the book in a most unappealing manner. Will I read another Grisham novel? Definitley not, well probably not, possibly, oh o.k. but let me know how it ends first

Summary: The Testament
Review: The testament by John Grishman is very interesting because at the beginning when Troy Phelans a multi -billionaire falls off a building and commits suicide, and he makes this will called the testament. It is very fascinating when Nat O Riley a person that they hired to take a plane to the Brazillan Jungle in South America. While Nat is in the Brazillan Jungle he is looking for a missionary named Rachel Lane who has inherited billions of dollars from Troy Phelan. When he gets to Brazil he has a bunch of problems with the heirs. Excitement occurs when he goes to South America and he gets into alot of trouble; he gets lost out in the wilderness of South America, and he can't find Rachel Lane anywhere. The Testament was a book I could'nt put it down because it was so exciting, and the book is very fascinating and very good.

Summary: HIS BEST YET>>>>>>>>>>>>
Review: At first I thought I was reading a book by another great writer, Douglas Kennedy (The Big Picture and The Job). It begins with billionare Troy Phelan narrating his soon to be death. His "family" are bums and little do they know they get nothing when he dies because Rachel Lane, a missionary living deep in the jungles of Brazil is named the sole heir whom Nate O'Riley, a disgraced corportate attorney has been picked to find Rachel Lane at any cost. The fastest 533 pages I've ever read.

Review: I read the other reviews, and frankly I was surprized. I loved all the Grisham books, but this one was by far and away my favourite. I loved it! I could hardly put it down, and read far into the night to finish it. I know it sounds corny, but I actually found it "life changing". It gave me a whole new perspective and there was lots of "food for thought". Well done.

Summary: A fast, entertaining read. Spiritualy uplifting.
Review: I felt this was a great novel because of the fact the author included God is his plot. I enjoyed the missionary, her impact on Nate, and the peacefull ending of the book. I was able to read this book in a week. Being the slow reader that I am, books normally take me much longer than that to read. I was so into the characters, that I had to keep reading on. Forget going out to the movies, stay at home and read this book!

Summary: An MGM Picture of the Year!
Review: This book is a MUST for a movie! A "thriller" till the end. Kept my interest on every page. Loved the detailed explaination of the travels through the jungle; Loved the compassion for those who give their lives to serve their God; loved the compassion for the children who are reared by a self sustaining, "greed-for-money-and power" man who puts self first and forgets his family. (That is the criminal part of the book.) Loved the determination we saw in the lead character to give up his vices and become a survivor, and that he did. Loved the passionate ending where he recognized a Godly person who sent a spirit to him who recognized the goodness in a once broken man. Only a God loving person sees the goodness in others beneath their dispair, regardless of religious beliefs. Beautifully written, held my interest throughout, read it in 3 days, couldn't put it down. It can truly become a new testament for those who allow themselves to read between the lines and recognize their past failures, without it becoming a "preached-to" lesson. For those who feel they have been "preached-to" really didn't read the book to it's fullest. A great quick and enjoyable read.

Summary: NOT a Spritual Novel
Review: "The Testament" was my first - and LAST - John Grisham novel. I read it because I had heard from so many others what a wonderful writer Grisham was. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I was not in any way inspired or uplifted by this book which has been, in many cases, classified as "spiritual". It was full of unrealistic, stereotypical characters, with none of which I could relate or sympathize in the least. The only humorous parts of the book were those in which the misplaced modifiers gave the sentence a meaning far from that which I suspect was intended. In my own personal opinion, taking a book, of which the first two-thirds consist of vile people uttering obsenities every other breath, and adding a "reformation", a preacher, and a missionary in the end does not make for a spiritual novel. This book may have been enjoyable to others, but it definitely was not my style.

Summary: The Testament
Review: Grabs your complete attention page 1 and holds on to it. Great story told well. Grisham's characters are well thought out. You knew who was good and who was bad but couldn't sympathize with the good ones nor feel sorry for the bad ones. I enjoyed this one more than some other Grisham tales. It made me laugh and cry. It was spell-binding!

Summary: Excellent
Review: I think this book is superbly written, the characters are wonderfully depicted and the plot is original. Congratulations to Grisham for churning out yet another great novel.
