Summary: A lawyer in the jungle...This should be interesting
Review: Has John Grisham finally cut to the heart of the legal profession by asking the question 'what happens to a lawyer when he is put into a jungle'? Nah...But it is very amusing to read about the trials and tribulations of a burned-out, alcoholic former litigator who finds spiritual renewal while struggiling with his affliction on his journey in Brazil. Grisham paints a delightful portrait of this undisturbed wilderness and the legal issues portrayed are very interesting. I did have a few criticisms, though. First, I disliked the portrayal of the family. In my opinion, Grisham wrote them primarily to act as thematic devices rather then contributers to the central plot. This process created a slew of characters that were very flat embodiments of the stereotype for rich potential beneficiaries (IE: greedy, financially incompetent and socially inept). Also, this is definately not Grisham's most scathing courtroom drama. It strays from his formula for using legal tribulations to create dramatic prose in favor of providing a narrative of spiritual, psychological and physical rebirth and renewal. But the bottom line is that it is enjoyable, and I would recommend it.

Summary: Not Grishams best book
Review: Although the idea of the book may seem intriguing, it comes out like another Biggles episode. Grisham is a great writer, no doubt about it, but...he just doesn't reach the same quality level as some of his previous work in this one. It might not be as good as "The partner" or "The firm", but if you're a fan of J.G it's a couple of hours of amusement, a good supplement to the TV anyhow.

Summary: This One is Worth the Time
Review: Grisham has a bad habit, and that's been the disappointing endings, but this book may be the exception. This book is worth exploring because it deals with a theme so few books do these days: What really matters? Entertaining, fast paced, and filled with plot twists, Grisham has written a masterpiece with "The Testament."

Summary: Grisham's written better
Review: I've listened to most of Grisham's audiobooks, and this is the worst yet. The South American adventures are boring ... but the legal twists are fascinating (particularly the first chapter). Get out of the jungle, John, and go back to the courtroom! And while you're at it, bring back Michael Beck. Muller is good, but his narration pales beside Beck's. Michael, I miss you!

Review: I loved this book. I enjoyed traveling along with with the hero. I am glad to see that the author was brave enough to show that money can be misused. I was glad to see that the missionary, event though she died, was given a monetary reward

Summary: GRISHAM FANS WILL LOVE IT...HOWEVER THE ENDING WAS ABRUPT
Review: I am an avid reader of Grisham's work and found this story delightful, insightful, and entertaining. The ending left me a bit confused as it seemed to have just ended suddenly without reason. I would have preferred a different ending, but then again...i'm not John Grisham. Definitely worth the read.

Summary: Finally a broken formula
Review: Finally John Grisham put aside the formula which started with The Firm and has given us a different story. The first Grisham novel I consider as more than filler between serious books since the re-release of A Time to Kill. His books had gotten monotonous. While this still reads like a screen play at least its a fresh I dea from a writer who has given us the same story over and over again. Well done. Three stars for the sry and one extra for creativity. Keep it up.

Review: I LOVED THE TESTAMENT! IT WAS REALLY INTERESTING AND HELD MY INTEREST FROM THE START. IT WAS THE FIRST JOHN GRISHAM NOVEL I HAVE READ AND I NOW PLAN TO READ THEM ALL. I THOUGHT THE STORY AND CHARACTERS WERE STRONG AND FULL OF LIFE.

Summary: The Testament
Review: I loved this book! I have read four other Grisham novels and have found this one to be my favorite. The plot was intricate and full of surprises. And what made this story so amazing was the ending. It left you with a feeling of hope (unlike "The Partner"). I can't wait until the movie comes out for this one.
