Summary: Strong 4 1/2 stars!
Review: Harlan Coben has to be my favorite authors. He writes with wit that other authors can seldom match. And yet when needed, he comes out with a serious side with Myron often pondering the moral issues of his life and decisions. Harlan leaves me laughing with my stomach aching and the next minute tearing up and reaching for the Kleenex. Darkest Fear is a fast-paced book with Myron fighting against time trying to find a donor for the son he never knew he had. Many twists and turns that'll keep you up through the night till the last page. The character of Emily, Myron's ex-girlfriend and mother of their child is slightly annoying in her handling of the situation.Jeremy's acceptance at the end of both his fathers seemed very mature for his age. I don't know if I would've been able to accept it that easily. However, I appreciated the role Myron's parents played in the book about unconditional love between parents and child. This would have been a five star but I was disappointed that my favorite, the WASPY Win Lockwood, didn't play a big a part as he usually does with his deadpanning humor and "killer" moves which Mryon finds disturbingly not bothering him as much as it did before. Another one of Myron's moral complexities he ponders over many times: Does the end justify the means? Not Harlan's best but still great and better than most of his fellow mystery writers. Can't wait for the next one!

Summary: The Best Somehow Gets Better
Review: Harlan Coben is, simply put, phenomenal. DARKEST FEAR is the seventh book in the Myron Bolitar mystery series, and the last one for a little while. And, it truly is outstanding.

This novel is slightly different than the previous six Bolitar novels, in that it is written from a much more personal level. Myron, the college basketball star turned FBI agent turned "investigative" sports' agent, is back again in another thrilling novel. Emily Downing claims that she needs Myron to find a bone marrow donor for her 13 year old son, Jeremy, dying of a rare disease. To make things interesting, Jeremy just happens to be his son, conceived the night before she married his college nemesis, Greg, who ruined Myron's professional basketball career.

In DARKEST FEAR, Myron is faced with many personal challanges, and, unlike the previous six books, he is involved in many heartfelt exchanges. This book allows us to peak into Myron's personal mannerisms and characteristics. There are still the suspense-filled scenes, and wildly interesting investigations. Win, as per usual, is his witty, candid self. In a nice change of pace, Myron's parents, "El-Al" Bolitar, are much more vocal in this book, which makes for a more complete reading experience.

This novel, as in all of the other Bolitar books, is a fast-paced page-turner, with plot twists galore. Coben continues to put out amazing, well-written books, that are a true pleasure to read. DARKEST FEAR is absolutely fantastic.

Summary: Harlan Coben did it again!
Review: Harlan did it again! I enjoyed his past one, "The Final Detail", but this one, "Darkest Fear", it almost drained my heart out. I was stunned about the ending and I did hoped that there would be a different ending than what was written. But it is what Harlan want to tell us! So well, I am telling you that this book is excellent as the usual. Myron Bolitar, the former basketball star turned sports agent was responsible for recruiting the sport players for the TV endorsements or guest appearances, etc, and he was playing a bit of detective, breaking his promise for himself. For the broken promise, Myron met his ex-girlfriend and he was kind of forced to look for the missing donor to save the thirteen years old son who was conceived before his ex fled and married with his arch rival, who had fought him and axed the relationships on each other. Myron had to investigate for the missing donor and realized that it gets so complicated and the clock's ticking for the boy who need the medical treatment. The fired writer for the city newspaper had gone in hiding because of the fraud, plagiarizing from the book to boost his interviews with the killer, and murders are to come. Family secrets must be found. Fighting the clock to find the donor to save Myron's biological child. Myron and his partners had to do things above the law by breaking the rules to do it. Myron had a heavy conscience to carry and looked like he could not make on time to save the boy... Harlan had done the best job to keep me on toes, turning the pages continuously until hitting the bell with a sledgehammer! Bang! Fun to read. You would enjoy this book as you have read his past books. I can not wait to write another book review for his next book,"Tell No One"...it's a very fantastic one! Wait for the next review! I applaud Harlan for the wonderful books! Check it out...Darkest Fear is in paperback edition and the newest one in hard cover...out on June 19th...

Summary: One of my favorite authors!
Review: Harlan just keeps getting better! This book was a joy from start to finish. A great plot with plenty of surprises combined with the patented Coben humor. It was fun to see Myron and Win in action again. I hope the series doesn't end. A SUPERIOR BOOK! Thanks Harlan.

Summary: The best yet
Review: I have read all of the Myron Bolitar novels and this is by far the best. There is less gratuitous violence and more plot. It is obvious that Coben has serious feelings about the realtionship between fathers and sons. It is a must read for any fan of Myron and should interest a more diverse audience than any of the previous Bolitar books.

Summary: Good, but nowhere near his best
Review: I have read all of the Myron Bolitor series and have very much enjoyed them all. However, this book just did not have the power of the previous ones. Myron is still one of the best series going (unfortunately, sounds like this book might be the end of the line).

I would have liked more of Win in this book. Also Big Cindi and the other characters. The plot line about whether Myron is the father of the boy was also a little weak.

Summary: Great Already!
Review: I haven't even read all the books in the series, and I know I(and you) will love it! Myron is funny, Win is charming, and Esperanza is kick***!

They should make these books into movies!

Summary: Last one of the Series?
Review: I just finished the novel, and as usual, found it very entertaining. I have read all the books in the series, and find the character development extremely interesting. Harlan does a great job of developing the characters, and there is some flow from book to book, but a short "recap" is always helpful, but never too boring.

This book, (possible end of the series - say it isn't so Harlan) was a true joy. I enjoyed the plot, and Harlan does a great job of keeping in-tune with relationships (father/son) that really made Myron come to life. Harlan also shed life on "real life" social concerns (bone marrow transplants) and made me more aware of the ever increasing need to do all that we can to help others. The plot and subsequent twists at the end were sure genuis.

Summary: I need more than 5 stars!
Review: I keep saying with each installment in the Bolitar series by Harlan Coben that they just can't get better, and Coben makes a liar out of me every time.

Darkest Fear was everything a great mystery/thriller should be - terrific characters, fast moving plot and great dialogue, but it was more than that. Darkest Fear had me ready to cry on one page and laughing my head off on the next. It was an emotional roller coaster, and I absolutely couldn't put the book down. From the beginning scene with his parents to the final scene in the book, I was caught in Coben's web.

I feel I can safely say that the series can't get any better than this....... Okay, maybe not. :) I highly recommend the entire Bolitar series by Harlan Coben, and especially Darkest Fear. I just need more stars to describe it.

Summary: The best yet!
Review: I love this series and this book was the best yet. I read it in one day. The repartee (sp?) between Myron and Win is as funny as ever and the plot kept me on the edge of my seat. Read it!
