Summary: my favorite Sandford thus far
Review: One thing about Sandford is he doesn't use alot of different story lines to achieve his goal. The ever present Lucas, has his work cut out for him in this thriller. His badboy attitude helps him attain his goal of catching the Psycho in this one. The wealthy family and innocent hostages add to the drama. As well as the police department details. My 1st knowledge of Davenports side business being involved so much in the plot. Was an excellent story, kept me going. For murder mystery, Sandford is a great way to go.

Summary: Drivel
Review: Puerile. Poorly written.

Please check the other reviews for plot details. I'd rather wash my hands.

Summary: Home Run
Review: Standford has hit another homerun! Davenport is back and stronger than ever. The way he tricked John with the cell phone was a classic! I also loved how Davenport beat John at the end of the book. It was really hard to put down, and I lost a lot of sleep b/c I didn't want to go to sleep. I highly, highly suggest this book. You won't be sorry. You can take that to the bank!

Summary: Lu cas Meets His "Evil" Game Nemesis
Review: Started with book no. 1 in the Prey series, and have enjoyed every one! I feel like Lucas Davenport is a close family member. I thought Winter Prey was the best so far til I read the next one, Mind Prey. Each Prey book has a totally different scenario of circumstances and bad guy/girl. This makes for a new and exciting read with each book even though Lucas appears in every one. I love following the same hero/heroin in a series. They become familiar to you and you don't want anything to happen to them. Very similar to Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta. Am now reading Sudden Prey and it's great too! Keep them coming Mr. Sandford!

Summary: Another hit from Sanford
Review: Thank you John Sanford for another thriller. I have read all the Davenport novels and each one is excellent and unique. I love Lucas; where can I find a man like this?! The ending was superb with a claustrophobic Mail finally suffering a bit after all the torture and murder he inflicted on others throughout the book. At least the victims got a piece of him as well. Great read! Can't wait for the next one!

Summary: A Grade A Detective Story
Review: The "Prey" series is one of my favorite.

Sandford creates some really great characters in this series and one great detective in Lucas Davenport.

The stories are always gripping and believable. The action is fast paced and nerve racking.

Most importantly, unlike so many other detective novel series by other other authors, the ending doesn't cheat the reader.

Start with the first book in this series and work your way through - you won't be disappointed.

Summary: "Mind Prey" is the most intense book in the series.
Review: The best mysteries need two critical elements: (1) a cunning villain, and (2) a tight storyline. In "Mind Prey," you'll find both. I have enjoyed all of Sandford's "Prey" books, but I found this to be the most satisfying because of the factors noted above. "Mind Prey" succeeds on many levels, but the bad guy was particularly interesting. He was clinically insane and acted out his illness at every opportunity. Kidnapping, rape, and murder were disturbingly easy for him. This behavior engaged Davenport's interest and drove pace of the story. It becomes an intense, grisly chess game. The story was tight and seemless, without the twisting complexity of Sandford's earlier stories. Plus, the ending ... no, I won't reveal that, but once you start, you'll get to the end as quickly as you can.

Summary: I love all of his books. He is a great writer.
Review: The Lucas Davenport character is so real, that you don't want to put the book down until finished.

Summary: TOO GOOD
Review: THE PROBLEM WITH THIS AND ALL THE PREY BOOKS IS THAT SANDFORD MASTERFULLY IMMERSES ME IN SUCH AGONIZING SUSPENSE THAT, IN DESPERATION TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT, I SPEED READ AND MISS OUT ON GOOD DETAILS! I ENJOY HIS STRONG, REALISTICALLY CRAFTED FEMALE CHARACTERS, WHO ARE AS CAPABLE AND FALLIBLE AS THE MEN. EACH OF HIS BOOKS I HAVE DEVOURED IN TWO DAYS OR LESS STARTING WITH THE EXPRESS FILE, AFTER WHICH I WAS HOOKED. JUST STARTED THE FOOLS RUN AND I'M TRYING TO TAKE MY TIME AND SAVOR IT! SANDFORD IS THE BEST.

Summary: Love the creativity of the Kidnapper, and of Davenport!!!!!
Review: The third book ive read in the Prey series, and i loved it. None of them have disappointed me. Love the way Villian John Mail and Lucas Davenport kind of play games with eachother and have a battle of wits with eachother. Davenport using witty ideas to find where he is, lure him into traps, while Mail, mentally ill but very intelligent, uses his brain to dodge Davenports traps and tricks, but to send Davenport and his men into booby-traps of his own. The suspense was thrilling. I loved the irony of Davenport having fun with Mail, claustrophobic, in the end, after Mail got to have all the fun leading Davenport around through most of the book. I finished in three days only because school wasted my time, but every chance i could get my nose was buried in it. For a good thrill i would recommend this or any Sanford book in the Prey series.
