Summary: Highly recommend
Review: This is the first Harlan Coben book I have read, and it will not be the last. I grew up in the very same Livingston neighborhood where this book is set. That definitely enhanced the story for me. The dizzying plot twists made me wish the book was a bit longer. I am pleased to see that people all over the world enjoyed this book, and not just myself and the other reviewer from West Orange, NJ.

Summary: Coben's best
Review: I jumped and had my jaw drop several times in the first 50 pages... yeh, there are similarities to the plot of "Tell No One", but this is Coben's style... If you like to follow twists and turns, action that moves and offers surprising interaction between characters, "Gone For Good" and Coben is for you... Just as an aside, I read a couple of other reviews that offered somewhat less glowing remarks. Critical of this being too similarity to Coben's other work... well duh?, I can't stand when authors like Coben, David Baldacci for instance, want to take us down a syrupy stroll through their childhood in the foothills of West Virginia. I for one buy an artist\authors work multiple times, because their genre and style are pleasing. This is a GREAT, fun, quick read!

Summary: Plot twists abound
Review: This was the first Harlan Coben novel that I had the pleasure to read.

I found the plot to be suspenseful and quick paced. While others here did not find Will to be the best main character, I enjoyed the fact that he was fallible and not always on top of his game. I tried to figure out how everyone was linked while reading the story, but soon realized it was pointless to speculate because all of the characters had a secret that needed to be revealed. Coben has written a thriller that hooks you from the beginning and takes you for a ride. Sit back and hang on.

I currently have "Tell No One" on my bedside table to read next.

Summary: Harlan Coben - Master of the Plot Twist
Review: After reading Tell No One, I waited patiently like a good kid for his next book...meaning: the day it was released I ran out to buy it, told everyone who asked "I was real busy with work", and settled into the divan in the big bay window overlooking the Pacific Ocean, with no real plans, I immersed myself into the fast action world of Harlan Coben.

Taking a quote that sets the stage: "We never forget our first love. Mine ended up being murdered." And from this starts the new and ninth book, which was a fast lane ride from beginning the very last and very surprising twist at the end. Coben is the king of twists and he doesn't disappoint. In fact, the book is full of twists. Each time I thought I might be on the right track, Coben would throw out another curve, off I would go believing that now, I was truly on the right path. The only drag on the book is that the lead character, Will Klein is interchangeable with the lead from Tell No One, David Beck but honestly that didn't bother me too much. Between all the action, plot twists, the lead characters dealing with rage, memory, lost identities, broken hearts, and grudges into the next lifetime, my plate was filled, appetite satisfied and I was immersed in a great read.

Summary: A bit florid but an okay read
Review: This was my first Harlan Coben book. I've yet to read his acclaimed Mylon Bolitar series. I didn't enjoy this book as much as other reviewers. I found the main protaganist's continuing self-effacement irritating, and his naive notions on youth homelessness and prostitution a bit preachy. There was some pseudo-philosophy thrown in for good measure early on, and this tended to grate as well. Once the writer refrained from instructing the reader, a pretty good thriller emerged. However, like Jeffery Deaver, Coben is a devotee of labyrithine plots and absurd twists, which I think takes the edge off believabilty and fails to provide the gritty realism I like in crime and thriller genres. All that aside, it's an entertaining read 7/10.

Summary: One of the most entertaing books I have read
Review: I made a mistake after I read this book in that I lent it out only to realize later that my copy was not going to be returned. I went out and bought another copy to keep for myself and to read again.
Buy this book and enjoy it. It will be one of the best reading experiences you have enjoyed. Plot twists, suspense, an unexpected ending. Read this book on the weekend. You won't want to put it down.

Summary: Excellent audiobook, beginning to end!
Review: After two klunkers, I needed a good audiobook to restore my faith in modern American publishing. Thank goodness for Gone For Good! I knew from the first few paragraphs that this well-written story would hold my attention, and it did, with just enough suspense, doubts, and twists. I remember thinking the last chapter would be a simple "They all lived happily ever after" conclusion; I didn't know there were still several twists in store for me. If I have any complaints, it would be that although I liked the Squares character, he was just a little too convenient and omnipotent in his ability to rescue Will again and again.

The narrator did a great job, especially giving the secondary characters like Squares and the Ghost their own recognizable identities. I recommend this audiobook to anyone, but especially anyone who needs their faith restored that there still are good stories, good writers, and good books getting published!

Summary: Phew! What a Ride!
Review: After reading Harlan Coben's Tell No One, I couldn't wait to get my hands on another of his works. The description of Gone For Good wasn't as intriguing to me, but having heard it was as good if not better, I had to try it. I am so glad that I did!

This book had me on the edge of my seat trying to make connections and links between people, and to figure out what was going on! But Coben only relinquishes as much as he wants the reader to know (which makes the book even better), and to the last page, I was shocked by developments.

Nothing in this book is as it seems, and if you think you know someone -- have you ever got a surprise coming to you! The protagonist -- Will, and his enlightened Yoga instructor buddy Squares are amazingly well developed. This book is full of fascinating twists, turns, and secrets. Coben writes with a comedic flair, and the ability to create three dimensional characters, some of whom you wish were your best friends. I am already seeking out more books from this talented writer.

Summary: Great suspense, great mystery
Review: Harlan Coben writes suspense stories about nice guys who are at heart, honorable romantics. Who wouldn't love his protagonists? Then, these characters that you've come to love get caught up in horrible circumstances and have to solve intricate mysteries to save themselves &/or the women they love. In Gone For Good, the suspense and mystery never lets up. Neither does the humor or romance. Highly recommended for readers who seek a well-written, entertaining read with plenty of memorable characters.

Summary: Whose On First?
Review: Harlan Coben showcases many of his dazzling strengths in "Gone for Good." Dead-on dialogues, tenderness that never turns mawkish, quick cuts, oddball characters and parental love are all displayed in abundance in this whirlwind thriller.

Will is a dubious sleuth. He is naïve, credulous, and not the bravest boy on the planet. Fortunately for him, his best friend, a former neo-Nazi who has blossomed into a fantastically successful yoga master, partners him. The FBI (rough, tough and mean in this outing), plus two deadly high school friends of Ken quickly take an interest in his search. It seems Will's fiancée had some connection with brother Ken, but what we do not know. After three chilling murders, a few walks on the wild side, every piece of knowledge Will acquires is designed to throw him in deeper confusion despair.

In a sense, Mr. Coban does not play fair with the reader. We need more character development to accept some of his incredible turnarounds as to why who is doing what. To say I was surprised at the final scene would be an understatement; I was astonished! Unlike some writers, the author attempts to tie up the loose ends. However, a few of his major characters were left in the land of surmise.
