Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: eh.. Review: Corben has many flaws as a writer, though he is talented at creating a complex maze of a mystery. His characters are undeveloped and inconsistent-- examples include the seemingly pure evil Ghost and the love interest in this book. He often obfuscates his plot by simply withholding details that characters know, and the world his book takes place in is a fantastical one with no parralels with the real world-- despite the story's tabloid setting. He will keep you hooked, but dont overthink the motivations and emotions of the characters involved: more often then not they dont make any snese at all.

Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Over the top Review: As a fan of Harlan Coben's books, this one was a mixed blessing. It had great plot twists, some of which were telegraphed, some of which came out of the blue. The problem with the book is that it is simply too disturbing and violent--unnecessarily so. It seems that Coben has decided to imitate Andrew Vachss, and has not done a very good job of it. The gruesome descriptions are not necessary, and interfere with his usually excellent writing style.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Gone For Good Review: If you are thinking about reading Harlan Coben's latest novel solely based on the praise of "TELL NO ONE" I can assure you that "GONE FOR GOOD" will not disappoint! "GONE FOR GOOD" is an action packed, roller coaster ride of a novel that will keep you guessing until the very last page. Will Klein has been leading a pretty normal life since the disappearance of his brother Ken over a decade ago. He has a good job at Covenant House, a girlfriend he soon plans to marry and has finally begun to put the past behind him. That is until his mother's death brings the circumstances surrounding the believed death of his brother back to the surface. This coupled with an abrupt departure of his girlfriend lead Will to believe that these events may somehow be connected, forcing him to take a closer look at the events surrounding his brothers disappearance. This eventually leads Will to the realization that Ken may not really be dead after all.

I'm also lookinf foreward to reading his other book, "Tell No One"
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Outstanding! Review: "The childhood shows the man, as morning shows the day." John Milton (1608-1674) This novel has more twists and turns than a Daedalian Labyrinth. It kept me guessing to it's very satisfying end. Be sure to read it, you will love the ride!

Review: When I pick up a book, my decision is made to continue the read by the first paragraph. In the case with Harlan's books, I am never disappointed. He takes you into the story right out of the gate. And the story gets better with each turn of the page, at each turn of event. You never are really sure of the end until the final page as the story twists and turns. I have read all of his books and am anxiously awaiting the next. Try them, you will like them and pass them on.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Real Page Turner Review: On her deathbed, Will Klein's mother tells him that his assumed-dead brother is really alive, and from there unfolds an incredibly complex series of events, cover-ups, and moments of violence and mystery that take the reader on quite a ride. Klein's brother was implicated in the death of Will's ex-girlfriend, and it becomes apparent that he may have been involved in much more than just that - or maybe not. A string of colourful characters passes through the books pages, each one making an impression and playing a role in the complicated mystery. Among the more memorable is Klein's devoted friend Squares who works with runaways, The Ghost who is an incredibly violent and dangerous friend of Klein's brother, and various other people, including a go-getting out of town journalist and a pathetic ex-hooker. Coban has a great ear for dialogue, and I can only imagine the time it must have taken to plan such a detailed, twisting plot. His ability to bring to life characters that only appear for a short time is something other writers should learn. His plotting and periodic surprises keeps the story moving and always exciting. I don't know if Hollywood will make a movie out of this one, but it would be difficult to capture all that is happening in the story. It's a great read.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A good read Review: Coben has once again written an intricately complicated and ultimately surprising plot. Although not as gripping as _Tell No One_, _Gone for Good_ is entertaining and keeps the suspense at a fairly high level. A couple of caveats, though. Coben's protagonist is a bit too wimpy to be really sympathetic. This may be a personal dislike, but when the hero is more than a little pathetic, it's hard to care much about him. I personally would probably have liked the book better if it had been written from Squares's or even the Ghost's point of view. (Squares is the obligatory tough-guy sidekick and the Ghost is an inconsistently sociopathic hitman.) On the plus side, the complex plot keeps the novel interesting and makes the character's flaws less distracting. A second slightly negative note: The plot, although far-fetched, is amusing enough to justify the reader's suspension of disbelief--until the epilogue. Coben just can't resist throwing in one last twist, but he'd have been better off leaving well enough alone. The last so-called surprise is not entirely unexpected, but Coben fails to demonstrate that it makes any difference to the presumed future of his characters, so it feels like a cheap shot. This novel is fun to read, but don't analyze it too closely--just enjoy the ride.
