Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Inordinately Inescapable Review: Fresh off of reading _Tell No One_, I still craved more of Coben's magnetic characters, unanticipated plot complications, and _Sixth Sense_like endings; He (Coben) transcendes all parameters of imagination in _Gone For Good_. I rank this as the 3rd-best novel I have ever read (behind 1. _The Pic. of Dorian Gray_ and 2. _The Man Who Wrote The Book_). Witty but believable dialogue, caring but engrossing characters, a conclusion that....--all of these make Coben's _Gone For Good_ the bellwether against which fiction should be judged. (Good luck to the competitors!)
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: An emotionally rich page-turner Review: A great read! I'm an avid thriller reader but this was my first sit down with Harlan Coben. It wasn't wasted time. An unflagging pace and mind bending twists and turns will keep you reading. But the rich and vivid characters speak in refreshingly honest voices and offer insightful dialouge that's blessedly free of the hackneyed villany or too-cute heroism so often found in "beach reads". This is more than a beach read. It's a page turner that tugs at your heart.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent thriller! Review: I don't know if I liked Tell No One or Gone for Good better, they were both excellent thrillers. I hope H. Coben has more coming!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Mixed feelings Review: "Gone for Good" was the first Coben book that I had read. I really enjoyed it, finding it a quick and well-plotted book. It was entertaining and suspenseful, and I would have been prepared to give it a higher rating than I have, if I had not bought and read Coben's earlier novel, "Tell No One," immediately after. It turns out that "Gone for Good" is not as fresh and original as I had believed. Rather it is a variation on the very similar plot of the earlier novel. In each case the narrator is a somewhat naive character who suddenly has reason to believe that a loved one who was long believed dead may still be alive. There are plenty of plot twists before a surprise ending that is quite unbelieveable. Coben's writing style becomes annoying if one pays attention to it. If you want a fast-paced, light mystery novel, go for "Gone". But if you want a really superior book, find something else.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Ingenuous. Review: "Gone For Good" by Harlan Coben is spectacular. An ingenuous fast-paced plot full of numerous deceptions, double identities, misplaced faith and countless twists and turns. There are surprises every chapter, making it almost impossible to put down until you've read "just one more chapter." Mr. Coben does not just throw the reader an occasional curve---he throws sliders and change-ups as well, misdirecting the reader in a myriad of ways. Protagonist Will Klein's life is unraveling after he learns his brother (thought dead for eleven years) is alive and part of a sinister conspiracy. No one, from family, friends and enemies is who they appear to be. "Gone For Gone" is engrossing suspense that is unpredictable. You may sleep with the light on after reading this one. A Plus.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Memorable characters, plot twists make a great summer read! Review: Will Klein's life was forever changed when his ex-girlfriend was strangled and his older brother, Ken, accused of the murder. Ken fled and an international manhunt reported sightings in many countries but Will believed Ken was dead. Eleven years later, he found unexpectedly found love with a fellow worker, Sheila, in Covenant House, a shelter for runaways in New York City. His world was rocked again at the deathbed of his mother when she told him that Ken was alive. Searching his mother's possessions after her death, he does find what seems to be a recent picture of his brother. The plot picks up when Sheila mysteriously disappears and her fingerprints are found at a murder scene in New Mexico. The police don't believe Will that he knows nothing of her disappearance or the whereabouts of his brother. Although the police are after him, the biggest threat to Will is the appearance of the "Ghost" a former childhood friend, now hired assassin, who is also looking for brother Ken. I liked the fast paced plot but really enjoyed the quirky characters who befriended Ken. Squares, a volunteer at the shelter, is also a famous yogi, who sees through Ken's mental defense mechanisms and tells it like it is. Streetwalker and transvestite Raquel helps in the search for Sheila. Even the evil Ghost has some interesting secrets related to the 11 year old murder. The ending is so full of plot twists you will think you have whiplash. But the plot evolves in a believable and satifying way that wraps up all the story lines. Recommended as very enjoyable vacation read.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fantastic! Review: This is one of those books that you hate to put down - there isn't any good place to stop! Almost every chapter ended with a (usually) unforeseen *twist,* and you just HAD to continue. I truly thought I knew what the ending would be, and I was surprised yet again! I HATED to have this book end, because I know whatever I read next will be boring by comparison.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Too Bad It's Gone For Good Review: I rejoiced as I read and sighed as I finished...this is one book you want to go on forever. A great plot, fantastic twists, and fabulous characters make this book The Ultimate Summer Beach Read.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Not so terrific. . . . Review: And it doesn't hold up to "Tell No One." He crams red herrings and double crosses to the point of failing any suspension of disbelief. Are we really supposed to believe a father would essentially sell his son off to prison for $5000, and that the son would turn out to be a ruthless killer (with a penchant for breaking noses)who ends up having a heart of gold? It's light summer reading- - -fast and with some excitment, but ultimately as light and airless as a summer dessert. Pick up "Tell No ONe" instead.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A true thriller! Review: You know a book is great when you get mad if anyone tries to talk to you while the book is in your hand. This is a great book that grabs you in the first chapter and never lets go. The plot twists and turns and the characters develop in ways you never expect. The ending is a little pat, but even the very last page is a surprise, and a good one, leaving the reader satisfied. Your family may not see you for awhile once you begin this book. It is that good. This is Coben's best book yet.
