Summary: Wow! A movie waiting to be made!
Review: Baldacci's character developement and plots are so exciting; this book is a movie in the making. As you read the book, you can actually picture the movie. While there were some lapses in character, they can be forgiven as the characters and story are very interesting and so much fun.

I have just started Baldacci's "The Simple Truth"; I hope it will be as captivating.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Entertaining, yet not totally explained
Review: I agree with most of the reviewers. The book is well written and kept my interest, however, there are some plot twists that do not make sense. I recommend the book but not a best seller.

Summary: WHY DID LUANN COME BACK TO THE UNITED STATES?????
Review: I have enjoyed reading all of the reviews of "The Winner" that are posted here, but was surprised to see that only one person commented on the inadequately-explained motivation of LuAnn to return to the United States. That is a crucial turning point in the book, for if LuAnn had remained in Europe or elsewhere, none of this would have happened to her. The only explanation given by the author is that she was "tired of running" for ten years and wanted to make a permanent home for her child. But, why the United States?? She had every reason in the world not to come here: Jackson, the lunatic, had warned her not to, she faced possible murder charges in Georgia, and she owed the IRS a ton of money. If she wanted to "make a permanent home" for her child, there are many beautiful, cosmopolitan cities in other parts of the world. She could have settled in any of them and would not have faced what she faced in the United States.

I could not get away from this criticism while reading the rest of the book. Everything that happened to LuAnn caused me to think, "Well, idiot, this wouldn't have happened to you if you had stayed out of the country!" That spoiled the whole book for me.

Also, another ludicrous plot twist - Jackson allowed LuAnn to go to New York prior to the announcement of the winning lottery numbers??? NO WAY would this have happened!! Jackson was too methodical and always made sure there were no loose ends. If Jackson found out that LuAnn was on the run from murders committed in her trailer in Georgia, Jackson would either have killed LuAnn right then and there and chosen another "winner" for that month's lottery, or he would have allowed her to remain as the winner but would have told her that to head to New York prematurely was out of the question. He would have sent her elsewhere until it was time to show up in New York.

I found the book interesting in the beginning, deadly dull in the middle, and fun to read at the end.

That said, I have one more question, where can I find someone like Jackson who will make me the winner of the next multi-million dollar lottery? I will gladly obey all of his instructions and therefore he won't kill me. He'll just allow me to enjoy all of that money! :)

Summary: Fun read! Not as good as Absolute Power and Total Control.
Review: As assistant to the Director of the Trauma Center at the University of Virginia Health System I would like to say "thank you" to Mr. Baldacci, on behalf of the Trauma Center, for the reference to, and his comments in the book regarding the quality of our Center.

Summary: David Baldacci is absolute winner after wrting this book!
Review: This is the first one I have read of him. And now I will read his all past and future creations. The characterisation of the main character i.e. Tyler is very nicely descrbibe and one can think as herself in all the situations of the story. The plot of the story is very rare and bold. So one just thinks how the lottery can be fixed. This is totally a new surprising story by a very well surprised author. I am waiting to read his latest the simple truth. I hope his all new coming stories will be more surprising and having fine new plot which no one can imagine.

Review: i feel bad for giving other books 5 stars, compared to the winner, they dont deserve it. i have never read a book as suspenseful as this. im readin total control now and enjoying it too. david baldacci and john grisham ARE the two best writers in the world today.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is a MUST read
Review: Of all four of Mr. Baldacci's books, this is THE most exciting! This should certainly be made into a movie. Move over, Mr. Grisham.....WAY over!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An awesome thriller with a little romance also.
Review: Yet another great book by a great author. This is my favorite of all his books. It keeps the reader on the edge throughout the book.

Summary: The Winner is a sure-fire WINNER!
Review: Absolutely one of Baldacci's best! The Winner starts with exceptional character development and then, like a tornado, sucks you in and up in a story that is both believable and expertly paced. Balducci's ability to craft a story line, that gets more energized by the page is remarkable. He knows when to set the hook and reel the reader in to the plot even more deeply. Out of his three top sellers, The Winner is absolutely his biggest WINNER of a novel. I can't wait to read his next book! You won't be disappointed.
