Rating: Summary: Be It Ever So Humble Review: LuAnn returns to the United States simply because "Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home." If I were a fugitive and my prescribed ten years were up, I sure would head for home, wouldn't you? Aside from being a valid plot device to change venues, why is her return to the United States so difficult for some readers to swallow? And,incidentally, I was mesmerized by the audio book version -- a fabulous listen! Viva Baldacci!
Rating: Summary: Good Book! Review: I really enjoyed this book. Better than other Baldacci books I have read. Makes you wonder - can the lottery be fixed? Lou Ann deserved the money - I wish I knew the secret to being as "fit" as she wass to beat up on so many men. Good Girl!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Fabulous! Review: This book was one of the best suspense novels i've read in a LOOONG time. I personally want to pat the author on the back if i ever had the chance. THe character "Jackson" was so unbelievably cold and remarkably intelligent, you almost want to be him, despite the fact that he's the villain! Or at least I did. And a book about money...earning money, the way people do things or manipulate people to gain more money, etc. It was a flawless, edge-of your-seat novel to me!
Rating: Summary: Great read Review: this was my first david baldacci book and i have now read them all. i thought it was great just as the rest of his are!
Rating: Summary: Great read...but requires suspension of disbelief Review: Let me start out by saying that I really enjoyed this book. The heroine, LuAnne Tyler, was a likable character with very noble motivations throughout the book. The villain, Jackson, was so calculating, resourceful and cold-blooded that he gave me goosebumps. The plot kept me engaged and seemed plausible, though improbable. Now for the critique. I will not rehash the multiple grumblings about the perfectness of LuAnne (even though the superhuman strength from lugging around a baby seat is hard to swallow). The character Matt Riggs is implausible and boring. Much of the dialogue is trite and contrived, and the fight scenes are laughable. The character Uncle Charlie is a bit two-dimensional and Baldacci's use of deus ex machina flourishes throughout the book. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars is because of LuAnne and Jackson, two of the most interesting characters I've read about in a novel in a long time. The book was an easy read that kept me interested throughout it's length. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys escapist fiction and can dissociate it from real-life.
Rating: Summary: Spine-tingling Thriller Review: This book was well structured and left you sitting on the edge of you chair throughout it's entirety. I had a very difficult time putting the book down and read it over a weekend! You really feel for the characters and the strength of LuAnn/Catherine and Matthew/Daniel is realistic throughout. The villian in the book is terrifying and you always know that he has to be lurking in the shadows. This is a brilliant read - do yourself a favour and get a copy !
Rating: Summary: A big disappontment Review: Disappointing hardly begins to describe this book. After enjoying two other books by David Baldacci, I have to wonder if he employed a hack to ghost write this one. The miserable dialogue, lack of real research, stock characters, and oh yes, forseeable plot development rate a big zero for effort.
Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: This is a nice easy read. The characters were well developed and the action keeps you interested through the entire book.
Rating: Summary: Ought to be a movie Review: Very exciting reading! I can't wait to stop by the store to buy another one of his books! It was one of those - 'Oh my gosh I can't believe that just happened!' books. Very good reading. I wish every book was this good.
Rating: Summary: Fun Fun Fun! Review: If you haven't read this one, grab it! It was a light, fun read - kept a fast pace, and totally grabbed my interest. Wish I could win the lottery! hehe
