Summary: My first
Review: Though I have seen several films based on James Patterson novels, this was the first I've read. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. I found Dr. Cross' character, and his family, to be both intriguing and comforting.

The story is of the second coming of a serial killer that Cross put in jail some years back (you may remember Gary from Along Came a Spider). Of course, there are several plot twists that Patterson has thrown, the most profound being that Cross falls in love.

I was very pleased with this novel, and I'll be sure to catch up on the Patterson books which I have already missed.

Summary: Patterson at his best
Review: My husband has read ALL of Patterson's books and still cannot get enough it. He rates this highly and is eagerly awaiting the next one.

Summary: Brilliant!Already started on Pop Goes the Weasel.
Review: Enjoyed the book.Just one loose end.How did Gary Soneji/Murphy escaped from prison the second time?

Summary: Not as good as the previous three Alex Cross titles
Review: I've been reading through James Patterson's Alex Cross novels from the beginning and thus far has been very satisfied. Cat & Mouse starts out great with the return of Gary Soneji and the great "Cat & Mouse" game between him and Cross. All the while there is the mysterious Mr. Smith case going on in the background with no direct involvement by Cross. I would have prefered that this chapter of the Soneji story and the newly introduced Mr. Smith story be given their own treatments in two distinct novels. As it is, I didn't feel that either was developed as well as the plots James Patterson has woven in the previous Alex Cross novels. It was still an entertaining read, just not up to my high expectations after reading the previous three Alex Cross novels. Either way, I'm on to the next...

Summary: Fast paced action with a loose plot
Review: My review is based upon an unabridged audiobook version, which is good. One of Patterson's strongest points is his quick-paced, lean writing. Any abridgements to his work would only weaken the story. This is also my first encounter with the Alex Cross character, who I liked even though I found the detective/doctor/psychologist with the idyllic family and knockout love interest a bit unbelievable.
In "Cat and Mouse" our hero is pitted against two (yes, count them, two for the price of one) serial killers, although whether or not a connection exists between the two is in great debate. Cross is stretched thin, between trying to recapture his old nemesis (who is behaving oddly, even by his standards), pursue a relationship, spend time with his family, and not get sucked into an even more ominous case while trying to capture Soneji. "Cat and Mouse" is an appropriate title - there is always a cat and mouse game going on, and it is usually unclear as to who is which.
Overall, I would recommend this more to the type of reader who accepts what he or she reads versus the analytical type. The plot twists energize the story, but they don't seem logical in retrospect. The slightly unrealistic characters (kids too talented and well behaved, wise old grandmother a little too wise) created a distraction from the overall intriguing story. What really didn't work for me was (spoiler ahead) how you could spend so much time in the killer's head, privy to his thoughts, without realizing it is the killer (as if he forgot to entertain any psychotic thoughts for several days).

Summary: Not Bad, Good Balance
Review: The fourth Patterson book in the Alex Cross series offers an extremely well balanced novel. The book successfully changes gears throughout the first two parts and has a mind-blowing surprise at the end of the third that even the most experienced reader may not predict. An overall good read and a consistent buy.

Summary: Five stars for the fifth number one bestseller
Review: this book was a classic mixture of romance and the chilling supenceful murders from Gary Sonji and the anonymous Mr.Smith. This book will have you doing backflips until your head cracks open or the case is cracked. You won't put down Cat & Mouse until you know the answer to the final question...

CAT OR MOUSE?

Summary: looking for a nightmare?
Review: "Cat & Mouse", by James Patterson, aims to be a thriller. You will realize how twisted, crazy, bizarre, and extraordinarly interesting this book may be, as it slowly pulls you away from your personal world. With unthinkable settings and vivid descriptions, this book will grip you from beginning to end. Character development is sacrificed for the thrills, however.

A notable facet of the story is that author James Patterson writes in first-person from several people's point-of-views. At times a reader may be torn apart wondering which side he is supposed to be on.

If you're looking for a bizarre plot with unpredictable twists, this is a book to read. However, after your first time, this book is no longer interesting. It's a one-time-reading, so enjoy.

Summary: One of his better works
Review: This was the first book by Patterson that I had read. I read the book for a class book report. I became overindulged in the book and the plot. It is a great book. The pages turn quickly and I found myself reading hours into the night trying to get to the ending. The book has influenced me to become a Patterson fan.

Summary: Do it again!!!
Review: Wow!!! When I first met (encountered) Gary Soneji in "Along Came a Spider", he scared me to death. Now he appears again in Cat & Mouse to go after Dr. Alex Cross and get his revenge. Only now Gary Soneji is totally out of control, not the methodical killer we encountered in "Spider", but a killer that wants to go down in a blaze of glory (no pun intended). I could not put this book down. I got the sunburn of my life because I didn't want to stop reading this book long enough to go inside. Of course the book is not entirely about Gary Soneji but introduces us to another "alien" killer by the name of Mr. Smith. His killings are so precise and unemotional that it makes you wonder how James Patterson comes up with this stuff. Fantastic Book---A must read.
