Rating: Summary: overdone! Needs focus, direction. Review: I found this book more convoluted than an elephant's intestine. It had "I'm writing for Hollywood, hope the studios are looking at this" written all over the watered down, overcooked story story. Gary Sonjei had AIDs, this was supposed to be ravashing his body, yet he showed no signs or the overused disease. It was gratuitious, as were all of the chase, shoot 'em up scenes. The tale lasted too long, needed a couple of hundred pages cut, several characters who added nothing but names and cinfusion needed to be edited out. Killing the villain (Sonjei, who was cheapened in this tale) early on, stopping the story to inject the love scenes, introducing another villan for the second half of the book, showed how unfocused Mr. Patterson really was. It felt like he did a cut and paste from scenes he didn't use in other novels.

Rating: Summary: The mouse got limburger. Review: James Patterson lost steam halfway through this latest edition of the Alex Cross series. After waiting almost two years to see what would happen when Gary Soneji finally caught up to Cross, I was sorely disappointed by the seeminly simplistic way that his character was finally knocked off. Although I must admit I was at the edge of my seat until that fateful moment in the New York subway station, I really felt like I was reading another shlocky script for Bruce Willis or Sylvester Stallone. The character development for Mr. Smith/Mr. Pierce seemed to be very shallow. Although the idea of a new killer who did not fit any of the bureau's established profile for serial killers, seemed to be a case written for Dr. Cross. The fact that he was thrown in the same tale where Cross and Soneji duel to the end, seemed to cheapen both tales. A tip to Patterson, stick to what made the other books work, one tightly woven tale that is well-thought out and the characters are deeply drawn. I really felt like I was reading an outline for a good book that never got written. I'm still a fan, but am hoping for better from the next edition of the Dr. Cross series.
Rating: Summary: Bit of a disappointment... Review: It is almost like he had ideas for two books, but didn't have enough plot devices to fill either one; so they became one book! This will not keep me from reading subsequent books by Patterson, but it was not up to what I have come to expect from him.
Rating: Summary: Total waste of money and Boring, ... Review: Although I kinda liked Hide and Seek, had some doubts after having read Jack and Jill, I bought C&M. I did not even finish it. At first I thought it was some kind of re-write of Jack and Jill, but as I do not know the ending, ... Precious time wasted.
Rating: Summary: Leave the Cat & Mouse at Home Review: I was looking forward to this installment of an exciting series. Unfortunately, despite a few twists, the story was predictable. I think Alex Cross needs a vacation.
Rating: Summary: Patterson has done it once again!!!! Review: Patterson keeps you on the edge of your seat with the intricate tangle of the story. Once again you are drawn into Alex's head and that of the killer(s).....he keeps you thinking and is full of surprises. His detail is fantastic. A MUST read for any suspense fan!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Patterson's latest will keep you awake until you're done. Review: This was another outrageously gruesome (and I mean that with all good intentions) thriller pitting Alex Cross against his old protagonist Gary Soneji and another equally as bad villian for good measure. No one does psychopaths better than Patterson. I am only sad that Soneji is gone for good. Or is he?
Rating: Summary: Fast moving....but Review: Definitely enjoyed this one. It moved and I didn't always know where it was going. The only thing I found difficult to follow was the author's use of the first person in two characters simultaneously! Don't remember ever seeing that before. Sometimes confused me as to who he was. Overall I would recommend it and will read some other "stuff" by this author!
