Summary: My first and last book By James Patterson
Review: Publicity drove me to buy this book and boy am I sorry. From the gut turning (don't read it after dinner) start to a predictable end I found the book to be totally insipid and an amateurish attempt. Can't believe somebody would publish this trash. I am sorry but the unneccessary gory details were a huge turnoff. (Wouldn't one example haved sufficed to provide the insight into the killer's state of mind or psyche?) These details were NOT compensated by any detail of policework that is assumed to have taken place behind the scenes. I agree with some of the other reviewers that this is two plots (and two books) mashed together into one because there wasn't enough material for either! Dr. Cross did not come across credibly as a doctor or a detective. I understand from some of the reviews that this story has a "prior" storyline (Gary Soneji being put in prison) but after reading this book I am inclined to let bygones be bygones! I wish I could return the book and get my money back.

Summary: A Just Terrible Book
Review: This book is not quite as bad as some of James Patterson's others (SEE HOW THEY RUN takes the cake), but it is pretty close. The characters are all paper thin, especially the gleefully psychotic serial killer(s) who provide the motive-less antagonists yet again. Alex Cross is back again, but is put out of commission about halfway through the book. As a matter of fact, this book is divided almost equally in half. The first half involves the serial killer Gary Soneji, the second involves a killer so silly that his entire existence can obviously be defined as "Plot Twist." Ultimately, you may read through this entire book in a relatively short amount of time. By the time it's over, like many of Patterson's other books, you'll be left wondering why.

Summary: one of the better books I have read this year
Review: +AH4-With every book of Patterson's I read, I become more and more of a fan. Cat and Mouse is one of the best, almost better than Kiss The Girls. I finished the book in a day because it held my interest until the end. This is one of those books that holds your thoughts even after you have finished it and put it aside. I definitely recommend it!+AH4-

Summary: EXCELLENT!! One of the best books, suspense-wise, I've read.
Review: I sure wish James Patterson could write as fast as Danielle Steele! I can't wait until his next book arrives. Cat & Mouse will surely be a major motion picture. So suspenseful!! Everyone I've loaned my book to agrees and now they're Patterson fans just like me. K Pacheco Attleboro, MA

Summary: Interesting Premise - A real page turner!!!
Review: I received this book for Christmas and was unfamiliar with James Patterson. I'm glad that I have now been introduced to this author. This book was very exciting and makes for a fast interesting read. The short chapters added to the suspense of the story. The most curious aspect of the book was the fact that there were two different plots intertwined. I plan to read more of Mr. Patterson's novels.

Summary: Alex Cross is back, better than ever...
Review: Patterson continues to develop the character of Alex Cross and succeeds in a fashion not often found in this genre. Cross is a warm family man whose tender moments are not hidden from the reader. Rather than some macho, cynical, cold-blooded manhunter, Patterson crafts his lead as a person whose life and loves you actual care about, feeling Alex's successes and failures as those of a friend. You are right there along with Cross and Sampson, on the trail of the Gary Soneji, now strung out like no recent villain of pulp fiction. While there are some weak parts in the various twists and turns in this novel about TWO serial killers, the basic fact that Patterson's writing has created one of the most endearing of all sleuths causes me to recommend this book highly.

Summary: Nothing new if you have read the other Alex Cross novels
Review: Patterson seems to be trying to capitalize on the recent interest in his Alex Cross novels (due to the movie Kiss the Girls) by trying to pump out another Cross novel. If you have read the other 3 Cross novels (or any of them, for that matter), you will find nothing new or surprising here. In this one, Cross actually gets hurt and, as in the other novels, gets involved in a romance. ZZZZ!!

Summary: one mean thriller by Patterson
Review: After not being thoroughly satisfied by Jack & Jill, the anticipation I felt for his next Alex Cross novel was minimal. I manage a bookstore, and after having so many customers rave about Cat & Mouse I took their advice. Im so glad I did! this novel was not only well written and fast-paced, but the stunner in the middle had me exclaiming out loud. I cant wait for his next---too bad Mr. Smith wont be around.

Summary: Patterson is at it again!
Review: "Along Came a Spider" and scared me to death then I "Kiss-ed the Girls" and was intrigued when "Jack and Jill" went up the hill and now I find myself trapped in a game of "Cat & Mouse". I lucked on to Patterson a few years ago and have been wrapped up in a love/hate relationship ever since. Love because he makes my heart pound with fear and suspense and hate because he leaves me hanging with the lights on and a bad case of insomnia. Cat & Mouse is just as good as it's prequels! I was blown apart in the middle when I was manipulated into thinking tradgedy struck (No I'm not going to tell you what happend... read it yourself!). Patterson's Alex Cross series will lighten your heart with it's warm characters and scare you to death with it's psychosis. If you haven't read any of his books do yourself a favor and begin at the beginning. And if you are a fan as I am then buck up and dig into this great thriller!
