Summary: The Teeth of the Tiger
Review: I have liked all the Tom Clancey books, including this one. However, staying up last night I was very disappointed with the ending - there was none! This book seems like it was not completed and it should have stated continued in my next book. If this had been my first Tom Clancey, I probably would not look for another.

Summary: Jack Ryan Jr.
Review: Tom Clancy has been writing suspense novels for a good long while now. Most feature Jack Ryan, the CIA analyst who runs afoul of the IRA in Patriot Games, the Columbian drug cartels in Clear and Present Danger, and the Soviets and the Arabs repeatedly in other books. Lately, the focus has been on Arab terrorists and their ability to penetrate into the U.S. and kill American citizens.

The Teeth of the Tiger's title comes from a saying one of the main characters intones early in the book: "If you want to kick the tiger in the ass, you'd better have a plan for dealing with his teeth." This is, essentially, the plot of the book. Several Arabs are part of an organization suspiciously similar to Al Quaeda, but run by a shadowy figure known only as the Emir. These individuals make a deal with the Columbian drug cartels, helping them smuggle cocaine into Europe in return for assistance in getting a large team of terrorists into the U.S. The result is a bloodbath, and the U.S. must respond, quickly. The response comes from an unlikely source: a financial institution set up in the waning days of Jack Ryan's presidency (he's left office before the opening of this book) and set up to *make* money, and use it to spy on people who might be a threat to our national security. This having been established, the next step is to neutralize the bad guys---i.e. to kill them.

We follow the organization as it moves towards its goals. The main characters are Jack Ryan's son Jack Jr., and two cousins of his, twins named Caruso. One's a Marine officer just back from Afghanistan, the other an FBI agent just out of Quanticol Together the three of them are set onto the trail of the terrorist organization and do what they're supposed to do. It's enjoyable to watch.

Clancy has gotten very good at this sort of thing the last decade or so. Originally the writing in his books wasn't that good, but it's gotten considerably better, and his characters are fun, also. Of course his forte has always been plotting, and this novel has some twists and turns that are pretty fun. There's one big coincidence, which you have to accept to make one scene in the middle work, but it's so satisfying to watch that you almost instinctively do. The ending is similarly satisfying, and I must say I enjoyed it. I would recommend this book, and say I thought it good.

Summary: Not a typical Clancy novel
Review: As usual I bought this book as soon as it was available. It is enjoyable, but not as complex as his other books. This somewhat limits my enjoyment of it since I enjoy the way he intermixes multiple sub-plots in one master-plot. This does not mean it is not a good book- far from it- I don't think Tom Clancy can write a bad book. Teeth of the Tiger just won't be one of my fovorite Clancy novels.

Summary: One of the best.
Review: I am a huge Jack Ryan fan and wasn't sure how a story based upon the younger generation would go over but it was seriously impressive.

I was not impressed at all with Red Rabbit but this book restored all faith I had in the author.

I hope you enjoy it as well.

Summary: The Teeth of the Tiger
Review: I would start by saying that I own every one of Tom Clancy's books and have enjoyed them all until this one. The premise starts with total improbability, that CIA and NSA would let an outside unit read all their electronic mail, that a unit could be set up for assinations with no oversight at all.and so on. This book just did not have the feel of a good Tom Clancy thriller. It was puffed up unesisarily,it disposed of all of Clancy's previous characters in a brief but improbable two pages, and seemed to be forced throughought. Needless to say.I was very sorry that I bought the book, and would recommend if you have to read it,wait for the library copy to become available. The introduction of Jack Ryan's son and two super cousins did just not ring true. In fact, I would not be suprised to find out that although the name Clancy appears on the cover,Tom Clancy didnt write this one, as it is very reminiscent of the Op-Center series. Clancy's novels flow and you just hate to stop reading and are usually sorry to see the end come. This one was a grind to get through.and I personally will read the library copy of the next one before I buy it.

Summary: Disappointing book to intorduce the next generation of Ryan
Review: Coming not long after the trip to Jack Ryan's past in Red Rabbit, this effort has the retired ex-president Jack Ryan in retirement, while his son (graduated from Georgetown, no less) and two nephews join the super-secret outside the law intelligence group called The Campus. The organization, originally conceived of by Ryan, does the dirty work that the FBI and CIA are legally not allowed to do.

Developments in our world (9/11, and the Department of Homeland Security, for example) that never were a part of the infrastructure in any other Ryan books now appear as if this book simply replaced the actual president and put the Ryan characters in place, seemingly ignoring the past events that took place in the fictional realm. It was a little disconcerting, but given that it's fiction, you have to just accept it and move on.

The actions taken against the terrorists in this book certainly are something a Ryan fan would approve of, but the book seems to be a little jarringly laid out, and a less than satisfying attempt to introduce characters that will allow Clancy to keep writing books in the series for years to come.

Summary: Not his best work
Review: This book is just okay. It is like his op-center books. As far as I am concerned this is an imcomplete book. It ends far to soon. He should have written at least another 100 pages. I am a huge fan of Tom Clancy and have purchased and read all of his books but this book just does not measure up. It is a good read but he makes to many references to his other books and events which have taken place since Jack Ryan left the office as President. He should have written a book about this or at least completed this one. This book leaves you hanging in a very incomplete way. He should have done better.

Summary: Gives boring a whole new meaning
Review: This book is unbelievably slow and boring. I struggled through the first one hundred and twenty pages, most of which are dedicated to character development that could have been accomplished in about ten pages. I finally gave up on the book when I could not take anymore. The story line described on the dust cover is what hooked me but it takes forever to get started. Perhaps the book gets better if you stick with it but I could not. This book was entirely unlike other Clancy novels that I have read. It appeared to have been written by a far lesser author. Pass on this one.

Summary: Clancy is still the Best
Review: I have read this book and can state that if anyone thinks that Tom Clancy is slowing down.. better think again.. Teeth of the Tiger is so up to date. This book should be required reading for anyone interested in current world events and the situation concerning terrorism. This book deserves your consideration...

Summary: The Tiger kicks the Red Rabbits BUT!
Review: I'm a huge Clancy fan I have read everything that he has written except the Net Force Stories. After struggling to read Red Rabbit I was not sure what to expect from Tom this time around but I was totally wrong this time. The Teeth of The Tiger is new generation Clancy that runs a full speed with top notch characters and a great storyline. Thanks to Tom for putting out yet another excellent book and I look forward to reading many more just like it!
